Chargers | Ladarius Green ready to play

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 09:10:24 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green said he is ready to fill in for TE Antonio Gates while he serves his four-game suspension. "I'm always ready to make plays because you never know when it's your time to go out and make them for the team," Green said.

Fantasy Tip: Green could be a sleeper option in the first four weeks for fantasy owners since he probably will see a good amount of targets. Owners could consider Green as a late-round option in drafts but should have another tight end on the roster that they can use for the entire season.

Chargers | Philip Rivers talks Ladarius Green

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 15:28:17 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green is expected to take on an increased role in 2015, especially with the four-game suspension of fellow TE Antonio Gates. "[Green has] looked really good and he needs to be a bigger part [of the offense]," Rivers said. "We need to have him be a weapon for us because he could be a heck of a matchup for us against some defenses."

Fantasy Tip: Green certainly has the size (6-6, 240 pounds) to create those mismatches. Green will start the first four games for the Chargers this season due to Gates' suspension. Those are the games in which Green could put himself past the hump he's been trying to get over throughout his three-year career. Overall, Green should be considered a low-end TE2.

Chargers | Ladarius Green playing faster

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 14:52:34 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green has looked faster than he's ever been, according to QB Philip Rivers. Rivers said he believes the main reason Green is playing faster is because he's more confident and feels more comfortable with the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Green will be starting in place of Antonio Gates for the first four games of the season. He hasn't done much in his three-year career so far, but the size and talent are there. He may be worth starting while Gates is suspended and could end up as a TE2 at season's end.

Chargers | Ladarius Green likely will start

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 12:22:43 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green likely will be the starting tight end with TE Antonio Gates being suspended for the first four games of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Green has shown promise in previous years but did not put up great stats last season. Owners could consider Green as a short-term starter in fantasy leagues but should not count on him as a weekly starting option.

Chargers | Ladarius Green to see more touches?

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 14:51:51 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green may be more involved in the offense this year, according to QB Philip Rivers. "I hope and I think we all agree that he needs to be a bigger part of [the offense] as we move forward this year," Rivers said. "We need to have him be a weapon for us because he'll be a heck of a matchup for us on some defenses."

Fantasy Tip: Green was one of the bigger, if not the biggest, fantasy disappointments at tight end last year. He was supposed to take the baton from Antonio Gates, but Gates is the one that produced. Gates will still be the San Diego tight end to own in 2015, but Green is a great handcuff and has the potential to break out.

Chargers | Ladarius Green a work in progress

Fri, 02 Jan 2015 14:20:26 -0800

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green had just two more catches this year (19) than he did last year, but he also failed to find the end zone in 2014 after catching three touchdown passes in 2013. Green missed two games this year due to various ailments, which limited his role in the offense. He played in just 274 snaps (27% of the team's offensive snaps) this year compared to 350 offensive snaps last season. "I've got a lot to work on, from route-running, to blocking and catching -- everything," Green said, when asked about his offseason plays. "It could have been a lot better. I was hurt. I've got to try and stay healthy. And I've got to try and do what I can for the team. I've still got a lot to improve on."

Fantasy Tip: As long as Antonio Gates continues to be an offensive force like he was this year, Green's opportunities and fantasy value will be inconsistent. Heading into the 2015 season, consider Green nothing more than a midrange backup tight end with upside.

Chargers | Ladarius Green not involved

Mon, 20 Oct 2014 13:29:02 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green hasn't seen his role expand this year after head coach Mike McCoy expected him to earn a much bigger role in the offense in the offseason. Green wasn't thrown to at all in Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs after being featured extensively against them last year.

Fantasy Tip: Green was a popular breakout candidate in the preseason, but the decline of Antonio Gates was greatly exaggerated. Green doesn't have more than four catches in a game this year, and his involvement in the offense likely won't increase unless Gates suffers an injury.

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green (hamstring) practiced in full for the second straight day Friday, Oct. 3, and is probable for Week 5 against the New York Jets.

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green (hamstring) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 2, after being limited Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: We expect Green to play against the New York Jets. Don't sleep on him this weekend at FantasyScore against a defense that has been kind to opposing tight ends so far this season.

Chargers | Ladarius Green limited Wednesday

Wed, 01 Oct 2014 14:39:19 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Green has just seven targets in four games, and he wasn't targeted at all last weekend. Despite his disappointing start and the presence of Antonio Gates, the New York Jets have been a welcome mat for opposing tight ends this year. Consider Green a deep tight end sleeper at FantasyScore.

Chargers | Ladarius Green will play

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 11:29:38 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green (hamstring) is active for the team's Week 4 game.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Green will be limited during the game, but he should have a role in the passing game. Green costs $4,800 on FantasyScore, and could be a solid option if owners are willing to take a risk.

Chargers | Ladarius Green's role expanding?

Sat, 27 Sep 2014 18:00:07 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green (hamstring) has been targeted seven times this season, and five of those targets came in Week 3. Meanwhile, TE Antonio Gates saw just one target in Week 3 after being targeted a combined 17 times in the team's first two games.

Fantasy Tip: After Gates lit up the Seahawks for three scores in Week 2, the Bills responded by paying extra attention to the veteran in Week 3. If opposing defenses continue to focus on Gates, Green could continue to be the main beneficiary. A hamstring injury could force Green to miss San Diego's Week 4 matchup against Jacksonville, but when healthy, he could provide more production than Gates for a cheaper price at FantasyScore.

Chargers | Ladarius Green questionable

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 13:19:15 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 26, and is questionable for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Green not practicing can't be a good sign that he will play on Sunday. It is probably best to look elsewhere this week in FantasyScore.

Chargers | Ladarius Green limited

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 14:19:46 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Green did not appear on the injury report earlier this week so this will be worth monitoring. He hasn't shown enough consistency to merit starting anyway.

Chargers | Bolts need Ladarius Green to block

Wed, 10 Sep 2014 14:38:15 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green will likely need to do a better job run blocking against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2. Despite gaining nine pounds of muscle in the offseason, Green was pushed around on multiple occasions against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. Green is more of a pass-catching tight end, but the Chargers will need him to block at times.

Fantasy Tip: As expected, Green took a back seat to Antonio Gates in the offense in Week 1. That looks like it'll continue into Week 2 against the league's best defense. Green's FantasyScore salary of $4,100 should be avoided.

Chargers | Antonio Gates leads team

Mon, 08 Sep 2014 22:57:10 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates had a game-high six receptions with a team-high 81 yards in the Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals, while fellow TE Ladarius Green managed just two grabs for 24 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Gates was considered a game-time decision leading up to the game, and people have tried writing him off, but he is still clearly productive. FantasyScore owners should still pay him mind in Week 2, and he could be had at a pretty nice price compared to the other top players at the position.

Chargers | Ladarius Green involved in red zone drills

Mon, 28 Jul 2014 11:08:12 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green has scored two times in the Chargers' red zone offense during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Green will have an increased role in 2014, and added work could propel him into weekly flex territory.

Chargers | Ladarius Green still improving

Mon, 02 Jun 2014 11:12:47 -0700

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green is still figuring out how good he can be, according to QB Philip Rivers. Rivers added that Green has the desire and ability to be really good and that he will continue to improve. Green trained in mixed martial arts this offseason to help with his hand usage and leverage, two key components for blocking an area in which Green knows he must improve. It is expected that as Green continues to improve, his involvement in the offense will rise accordingly.

Fantasy Tip: Ladarius Green is one of those breakout candidates for 2014. Veteran teammate and fellow tight end Antonio Gates had just one more touchdown than Green last season, despite seeing 84 more targets. If Green can play to his potential, he could be a borderline TE1.
