Steelers | Ladarius Green limited Wednesday

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 13:14:17 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Green will be cleared to play in the AFC Championship game. Green will be a risky fantasy option for owners this week but will have some value if he is active for the game. He could be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in leagues.

Steelers | Ladarius Green not expected to suit up

Tue, 17 Jan 2017 20:53:04 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) is not expected to play in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 22, against the New England Patriots, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette.

Fantasy Tip: Green is still in the NFL's concussion protocol, so this declaration seems more likely to occur than not at this point, especially given the former Charger's history with concussions. With Green probably remaining on the sidelines, Jesse James will slide back into the starting tight end spot and offer solid value for DFS lineups this weekend.

Steelers | Ladarius Green struggling to get back

Tue, 17 Jan 2017 09:37:54 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Fantasy Tip: Green has been sidelined since Week 15, although Tomlin said he had a chance to play in the Divisional Round before ultimately being ruled out. Although Jesse James had a fine game last week, the Steelers could really use all hands on deck in the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots after failing to score a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs. Owners should consider him highly questionable at best.

Fri, 13 Jan 2017 13:12:18 -0800

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Jan. 13, and is listed as doubtful for the Divisional Round playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Green has not been cleared to play yet and likely will miss another game because of his concussions, so owners in all leagues should avoid him. Jesse James likely will start at tight end for the Steelers but should also be avoided.

Steelers | Ladarius Green tabbed doubtful

Fri, 13 Jan 2017 11:21:53 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) is listed as doubtful for the team's Divisional Round playoff game Sunday, Jan. 15, against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Green hasn't played since Week 15, and considering he hasn't even practiced this week, it seems highly unlikely that he'll be able to suit up on Sunday. With Green headed towards his fourth straight absence, Jesse James should once again get the majority of snaps at tight end, and actually could end up being one of the best values at his position this weekend for DFS.

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) did not participate in practice Thursday, Jan. 12.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Green will miss another game, so owners should avoid him in all fantasy leagues. Jesse James probably will receive a few targets during the game but is not a strong fantasy option and can be avoided.

Wed, 11 Jan 2017 12:58:23 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Green is still in the concussion protocol and will not be able to play if he does not receive clearance from the doctors. Owners can keep an eye on the situation, but he probably should be avoided in fantasy leagues even if he is active for the game.

Steelers | Ladarius Green remains in protocol

Tue, 10 Jan 2017 10:41:21 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) participated in two full practices last week before sitting out the last one of the week after the team did not get the results they wanted from him following a post-practice test, keeping him in the league's concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: Green may follow a similar routine this week, but he is far from a sure thing to suit up this weekend as he has not played since Week 15 and a troubling history with concussions. The Steelers' offense has been humming recently without him, but a healthy Green would further tax defenses and make Antonio Brown as well as Le'Veon Bell even harder to defend. Even if he clears protocol this week, he'll spend most of the game in Eric Berry's coverage, making him a poor option in fantasy.

Steelers | Ladarius Green declared out

Sun, 08 Jan 2017 07:47:25 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) will not play in the Wild Card game against the Miami Dolphins Sunday, Jan. 8, after being unable to clear concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: Green was a full participant in two practice sessions during the week but will be sidelined for the second consecutive game after failing to receive clearance from an independent neurologist. TEs Xavier Grimble and Jesse James are expected to split time at the position and have a favorable matchup versus the Dolphins, making them worthy of consideration for DFS lineups.

Steelers | Ladarius Green questionable

Fri, 06 Jan 2017 13:07:15 -0800

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) is listed as questionable for the Wild Card playoff game against the Miami Dolphins. Green did not participate in practice Friday, Jan. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Green may have suffered a setback at some point, but owners will need to check the inactive list to see if Green will be cleared to play. Owners may want to look for other options to use since Green is a risky option and may not play.

Steelers | Ladarius Green misses practice Friday

Fri, 06 Jan 2017 10:02:43 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) sat out practice Friday, Jan. 6, after participating in full each of the previous two days and remains in the league's concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: It means Green has yet to receive clearance from an independent neurologist and is highly unlikely to play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. The downgrade is a shame for fantasy owners as Miami has been abysmal against tight ends. If Green sits, DFS owners should strongly consider investing in a few shares of Xavier Grimble and bump up their previous projections a bit on Eli Rogers.

Steelers | Ladarius Green fully practices

Thu, 05 Jan 2017 13:12:37 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Jan. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Green adds yet another weapon to an already potent offense. He was involved when he did play in 2016, despite a limited workload. That involvement is a good sign for his 2017 prospects in what will hopefully be his first full season with the Steelers. He should be considered a borderline TE1 for 2017 drafts if he's fully healthy.

Steelers | Full practice for Ladarius Green

Wed, 04 Jan 2017 12:58:40 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Jan. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Green missed the final two regular season games but appears to have a decent chance to play against the Miami Dolphins. Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if he has any setbacks during the week. He will be a risky option for owners this week but could be a low-end No. 1 tight end if he is active.

Steelers | Ladarius Green might be ready to play

Tue, 03 Jan 2017 12:31:19 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) is still in the NFL's concussion protocol, but head coach Mike Tomlin said he looks good and that he could play against the Miami Dolphins this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Green gives the Steelers another valuable weapon in the passing game, something Jesse James can't provide. He's a risky fantasy draft pick even if he's healthy in the offseason, but he does have TE1 potential in a potent offense.

Steelers | Ladarius Green still in protocol

Tue, 03 Jan 2017 10:08:42 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol, but head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters Green "looks good" in practice and is among a handful of injured Steelers who could play in the AFC Wild-Card game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Jan. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Green has a concerning concussion history and will probably remain a high-risk fantasy property for the remainder of his career as a result, but he is a difference-maker when he actually sees the field and provides the Steelers with a much-needed third weapon to take some of the burden off Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell. If he is cleared for this weekend, he automatically becomes one of the top plays at his position in DFS and playoff leagues.

Steelers | Ladarius Green will not play

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 13:48:26 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 30, and has been ruled out for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Jesse James should receive most of the playing time at tight end with Green out another week. He is coming off a 49-yard performance in Week 16, but owners in most leagues should be able to find better options and can avoid James.

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 18:53:02 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Fantasy Tip: It seems unlikely that Pittsburgh would risk using Green with nothing to play for in Week 17. Even if he plays, his value is diminished with Ben Roethlisberger sitting.

Steelers | Ladarius Green limited Wednesday

Wed, 28 Dec 2016 13:24:59 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Green has dealt with concussions in the past, so the Steelers likely will take their time with his recovery. There is a good chance that Green will sit again since the game does not mean anything for the Steelers, so owners should look for other options.

Steelers | Ladarius Green still in protocol

Tue, 27 Dec 2016 10:13:15 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) is still in the league's concussion protocol and not expected to play in Week 17 versus the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: With the Steelers planning to rest so many of their key players, it would make virtually no sense to rush Green back. Jesse James and Xavier Grimble should see the majority of snaps at tight end this weekend, although neither player is an enticing fantasy option with Landry Jones expected to lead the offense.

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 06:26:57 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) is not expected to play in Week 16's game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Green is listed as doubtful on the injury report and did not practice at all during the week. Jesse James should get the bulk of the work at tight end versus the Ravens but he is not a great fantasy option.

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 23, and is listed as doubtful for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Green probably will not be able to pass his concussion tests before the game, so owners should avoid him in all leagues. Jesse James and Xavier Grimble likely will share time at tight end but both should be passed over by owners.

Steelers | Ladarius Green's Week 16 status up in air

Tue, 20 Dec 2016 14:42:20 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green's (concussion) status for the team's Week 16 game Sunday, Dec. 25, versus the Baltimore Ravens is up in the air. He's still under concussion protocol and will be meeting Dr. Mickey Collins of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for evaluation.

Fantasy Tip: It seems Green is closer to the doubtful side for Sunday's huge tilt with the Ravens, as he may not escape concussion protocol in time to suit up. It's a tough break for the former San Diego Charger, as he's finally settled in with his new team after missing the first nine games of the campaign. In fact, he's recorded more than 65 yards in three of his last four games, while drawing a desirable 34 targets over that span. If he has to sit, Jesse James would be a fine streaming option.

Steelers | Ladarius Green held in check

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 13:53:09 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green caught two passes for 25 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Green was coming off a very good game in Week 13 but was held to two catches against the Bills. He will continue to see a solid amount of targets moving forward and can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues.

Steelers | Ladarius Green could see 30 to 40 snaps

Sat, 10 Dec 2016 15:32:16 -0800

Steelers TE Ladarius Green played 35 snaps in Week 13 after totaling 34 in his first three weeks back. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Green can expect 30 to 40 snaps going forward because of the Steelers' usage of run-heavy sets.

Fantasy Tip: Green was one of the more pleasant surprises of Week 13, finishing with six catches on 11 targets for 110 yards and a touchdown. There's plenty of reason to believe he's capable of posting similar numbers going forward, as he is a great downfield threat for a tight end and has Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown to keep defenders occupied. With 30 to 40 snaps weekly, Green should be considered a TE1.

Steelers | Ladarius Green misses practice

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 17:16:07 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (non-injury) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 8.

Fantasy Tip: It may have just been a day of rest for Green, and there has been no indication that his status for Week 14 is in jeopardy. Coming off a 110-yard performance, he is a TE1 against the Bills.

Steelers | Ladarius Green shines in win

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 23:01:33 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green posted six receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown in the Week 13 game against the New York Giants. "I'm not close to where I thought I would be, but I'm getting closer," Green said Sunday, Dec. 4. "I'm building a little more confidence every game."

Fantasy Tip: Green was targeted 11 times, and it was a combination of Green getting better in the offense, healthier and the Giants not paying much mind to opposing tight ends. He is worth adding in all fantasy leagues in Week 14, especially if you continue to search for a replacement for someone like Rob Gronkowski.

Steelers | Ladarius Green making solid progress

Tue, 29 Nov 2016 09:49:35 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green should expect increased reps moving forward and has the coaching staff "excited" about potential contributions, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Fantasy Tip: Green has yet to play more than 14 snaps in any of the three games since his return, but it sounds as if that is about to change. He is rare downfield threat for a player at his position for a team that is beat up at receiver, and he flashed his big-play ability Thanksgiving night by gashing the Indianapolis Colts for 67 yards on two catches. While his biggest impact will probably be felt in 2017, he has at least entered the TE2 conversation.

Steelers | Ladarius Green on the upswing?

Sat, 26 Nov 2016 10:57:51 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green played only 14-of-54 snaps in Week 12 against the Indianapolis Colts after getting 20 total snaps in his first two weeks back from injury, but head coach Mike Tomlin sounded as if he's ready to see his level of participation increase. "There's one thing to be healthy. There's another to be football-ready. He's been healthy for a number of weeks, and we're seeing him display some football readiness, so hopefully that continues," Tomlin said.

Fantasy Tip: It's important to remember Green didn't log his first practice - offseason or regular season - with the team until Oct. 25, so the fact he is contributing at all a month later is rather amazing. He still shouldn't be expected to be a difference-maker during the fantasy playoffs, but he is definitely making a case for himself to head into 2017 on the right note.

Steelers | Ladarius Green to be full go in Week 12

Tue, 22 Nov 2016 23:08:17 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green will not be under any snap restrictions in Week 12, according to offensive coordinator Todd Haley, who said Green would be a "full go" against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Green's goose egg against the Browns this past Sunday was a major disappointment, but Haley says the training wheels are coming off, and the Colts have some health concerns in their secondary. If you're looking for a high-upside play, Green has some appeal.

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 18:32:26 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (knee) played 12 snaps in his debut in Week 10, and he said he is going to be involved in the game plan more going forward.

Fantasy Tip: Green finished with three catches for 34 yards in his debut, and the possibility of a bigger workload against the Browns in Week 11 makes him a low-end TE1 candidate.

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 13:52:03 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 18, and is not on the injury report for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Green was limited in his first game of the season and should see more snaps against the Cleveland Browns. He should see more targets in the game and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues.

Steelers | Ladarius Green logs full session

Thu, 17 Nov 2016 17:19:10 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 17.

Steelers | Ladarius Green limited

Wed, 16 Nov 2016 13:29:21 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Green received limited snaps in Week 10 since it was his first game of the season but should receive more work this week. He may receive more targets in the passing game because of the injuries the team had at wide receiver. He will have a favorable matchup in Week 11 and can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 20:49:32 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) made his regular season debut in the Week 10 game against the Dallas Cowboys. He was targeted four times.

Fantasy Tip: Green appears to be behind Jesse James on the depth chart and he is fighting for scraps with Xavier Grimble. As such, Green has very little fantasy appeal except in the deepest of formats.

Updating previous posts, Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) has been activated from the physically unable to perform list and will dress for the game Sunday, Nov. 13, against the Dallas Cowboys. The team released OLB L.J. Fort to make room.

Fantasy Tip: Green may not be 100 percent, so you may want to avoid him for the first week. His stats should get better as time passes, however.

Updating an earlier report, Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (calf) said his explosiveness isn't 100 percent, but it's close. He's still working on rebuilding his calf.

Fantasy Tip: Green will have considerable rust to kick off, but he's worth stashing if you have space. He could be a dynamic piece in the fantasy playoffs.

Steelers | Ladarius Green set to come off PUP

Sat, 12 Nov 2016 10:09:17 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green was activated off the Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, Nov. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Whether or not he makes his debut is another story, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Green is a top-five talent at tight end and has reportedly impressed in practice, so he makes for a worthy roster stash at a weak position. With that said, he is likely to be on a snap count this week and durability has long been a problem for the fifth-year tight end. If he is right physically and shows a good grasp of the playbook in the coming weeks, he could be a difference-maker during the fantasy football playoffs.

Steelers | Ladarius Green close to returning

Sat, 12 Nov 2016 08:22:00 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) is expected to be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform List this weekend, according to multiple sources. He is expected to play in Week 10's game against the Dallas Cowboys, although the decision ultimately rests in the hands of head coach Mike Tomlin.

Fantasy Tip: Green has missed the entire 2016 campaign while recovering from offseason ankle surgery, so he makes a risky play in all formats this weekend. However, he is expected to have an important role in the passing game, so owners in deeper seasonal leagues and daily fantasy games might find it worthwhile to take a gamble on him.

Steelers | Ladarius Green saw time with starters

Thu, 10 Nov 2016 10:52:20 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) said he received some snaps with the first-team offense during practice Wednesday, Nov. 9. He said he is optimistic about his status for Week 10, but indicated that the coaches will decide his status.

Fantasy Tip: Green has miss the first eight games because of offseason ankle surgery but may be able to play in the next week or two. He probably will have a decent role in the passing game when he does return to the lineup but would be a risky option for fantasy owners. He could be an option for desperate owners in daily fantasy leagues if he plays in Week 10.

Steelers | Ladarius Green could play in Week 10

Tue, 08 Nov 2016 10:20:17 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Ladarius Green (ankle) has a chance to play in Week 10 versus the Dallas Cowboys, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Fantasy Tip: Green is a tantalizing talent, but a rather small window left (one week) to get activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list, as his clock started when he began practicing two weeks ago. Tomlin said earlier Tuesday that Green has "done some nice things" and "proven his health", so perhaps optimism is warranted here. Owners in deeper leagues need to monitor him, although he is far from a sure thing to contribute at any point this season.

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) has little chance to play in Week 9, in the opinion of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette.

Fantasy Tip: Green probably needs a few weeks of practice before he is ready to play, so owners can keep an eye on the situation. He may have a decent role in the passing game when he joins the lineup and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end against certain opponents.

Steelers | Ladarius Green could make Week 9 debut

Tue, 01 Nov 2016 10:09:32 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) has impressed the coaching staff with his attention to detail in his first few practices with the team. As a result, head coach Mike Tomlin acknowledged the possibility Green could see his first game action in Week 9 versus the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Green's only work with the Steelers have come over the last week, as he did not log a single practice during the spring or summer after signing with the team as a free agent back in March. Owners shouldn't expect many snaps or much fantasy impact for at least a month, although there is no question he possesses the athleticism to contribute much sooner. As a result, Jesse James should remain relevant in fantasy for a few more weeks.
