Steelers | Ladarius Green goes to PUP list

Tue, 30 Aug 2016 13:13:16 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, Aug. 30, meaning he will miss the first six games of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Jesse James is officially on the fantasy radar. He had a good showing with the first-team offense in their last preseason game, and he's a bargain right now in fantasy drafts as he can achieve TE1 status in any of the first six weeks of the season.

Steelers | Slow rehab for Ladarius Green

Thu, 25 Aug 2016 15:17:21 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) still hopes to be ready for Week 1, but acknowledged that the rehabilitation process is "very slow."

Fantasy Tip: If Green is sidelined for Week 1, then Jesse James would make for a nice, cheap tight end play in daily formats. Ben Roethlisberger frequented Heath Miller's catching radius and has always been fond of dumping the ball off to his tight ends. James is also a handcuff consideration for those who draft Green as their TE1.

Steelers | Ladarius Green calls headaches a rumor

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 13:57:38 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion, ankle) said he has no idea where rumors of his headaches spawned.

Fantasy Tip: Green is still on the PUP list because of an ankle injury, but maybe his recurring headaches aren't as severe as originally believed. Either way, his status will need to be monitored leading up to the regular season, especially since he'll need to be taken off the PUP list before the season starts if he wants to play. If he is not ready, then Jesse James becomes a nice sleeper option as he should become the starting tight end in Pittsburgh.

Steelers | Jesse James in line to start

Thu, 18 Aug 2016 13:55:13 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Jesse James would start if TE Ladarius Green (concussion, ankle) is not ready by the start of the season. James has developed a nice red-zone rapport with QB Ben Roethlisberger, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: James is becoming a pretty sneaky option at the tight end position. He can be had for nothing and could start at least half of the regular season depending on Green's status. As of now, James can probably even be claimed off waivers in most leagues while he's still under the radar.

Steelers | IR an option for Ladarius Green

Thu, 18 Aug 2016 13:48:22 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion, ankle) could begin the regular season on the Reserve/Injured list, according to ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler.

Fantasy Tip: Green's situation is murky at best right now. He could either retire, be cut, start the season on IR or be healthy enough by Week 1. Green is not totally undraftable, of course, but one should strongly consider taking Jesse James in a later round as a handcuff to Green.

Steelers | Mike Tomlin talks Ladarius Green

Fri, 12 Aug 2016 21:37:25 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) is on the Physically Unable to Perform list solely because of an ankle injury, head coach Mike Tomlin said Friday, Aug. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Rumor has it Green is dealing with headaches stemming from concussions and could be forced to retire. Tomlin's comments have to be taken with a grain of salt, and at this point, Green is a late-round, roll-of-the-dice pick.

Steelers | Ladarius Green could retire

Thu, 11 Aug 2016 13:09:00 -0700

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) may be considering retirement if his recurring headaches persist, according to a source. There is also speculation that the Steelers could cut Green.

Fantasy Tip: A bad situation has quickly turned into a worse one for Green and the Steelers. If the tight end hangs up his cleats or is released, then Jesse James would suddenly garner sleeper attention. This situation will need to be monitored leading up to the regular season, but it's best to place Green outside of TE1 territory for now.

Steelers | Ladarius Green dealing with headaches

Thu, 11 Aug 2016 11:01:34 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (head, ankle) is not participating in practice because of recurring headaches and not because of his surgically repaired ankle, according to a member of the organization. Green suffered two concussions in two weeks last September.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation during the preseason to see if he will be ready for the regular season. He was expected to be a big part of the passing game this season, but it is not known when he will be able to return. Owners may want to drop him in their rankings a bit because of the injury, but he should still be a low-end No. 1 or a high-end No. 2 tight end if healthy.

Steelers | Ladarius Green still unable to go

Wed, 10 Aug 2016 19:04:42 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) remains on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list nearly two weeks after the open of training camp. He is still recovering from ankle surgery in January and has yet to practice with his new team. He will miss at least the first preseason game Friday, Aug. 12, against the Detroit Lions. Expectations are so low at this point, QB Ben Roethlisberger did not mention Green when talking about the team's tight end situation Tuesday, Aug. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Green has a ton of potential and could be a giant addition to the Pittsburgh offense, and way better than his predecessor Heath Miller. However, he needs to get on the field and build rapport with his new quarterback. If Green isn't ready for Week 1, it would likely be Jesse James, Xavier Grimble or David Johnson forced to step up. Green is still a nice middle-round fantasy pick in most drafts, but he needs to get healthy in a hurry. He is a TE1, but have depth on hand just in case.

Steelers | No timetable for Ladarius Green

Sat, 30 Jul 2016 06:20:52 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) does not have a timetable for when he will be able to return to practice.

Fantasy Tip: Green is recovering from offseason ankle surgery and likely will take his time returning to make sure he will be ready for the start of the regular season. Green should have a significant role in the passing game in 2016 and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some leagues.
