Packers | Jarrett Boykin emerging

Thu, 28 Aug 2014 07:35:24 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jarrett Boykin has taken the next step, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. "He's physical, his toughness, he's relentless," McCarthy said. "I think he's exceptional at the top of his route. You see his strength and balance to separate from a DB." Boykin's hold on the No. 3 receiver spot will likely limit WR Davante Adams as the fourth receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Boykin is worth a flier as a WR5 and is worth playing as a flex in good matchups.

Sat, 12 Jul 2014 08:56:53 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jarrett Boykin will be entering training camp as the No. 3 wide receiver, and it will be hard for one of the other wide receivers to outperform him for the job.

Packers | Have high hopes for Jarrett Boykin

Wed, 26 Mar 2014 16:08:51 -0700

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said he "fully expects" WR Jarrett Boykin to "step up" in 2014 now that WR James Jones has moved on.

Fantasy Tip: Boykin excelled in the Packers offense when Jones went down due to injury last year. Expect more of that in 2014. Boykin can be a solid No. 4 wideout, especially in PPR leagues.

Packers | James Jones to play

Mon, 04 Nov 2013 16:02:58 -0800

Green Bay Packers WR James Jones (knee) is active for the team's Week 9 game.

Fantasy Tip: Jones should start if owners have the chance to use him this week. His availability likely will cut into Jarrett Boykin's targets, but Boykin should still be in starting lineups.

Packers | James Jones limited

Thu, 31 Oct 2013 13:32:23 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR James Jones (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 31, and hasn't practiced in full since spraining his left knee Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Jones may have a tough time making it back for the Week 9 game against the Chicago Bears Monday night. It'd be extremely risky to leave him in your starting lineup. Jarrett Boykin remains a nice flex option with Jones out.

Packers | James Jones sitting out

Wed, 23 Oct 2013 11:00:33 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR James Jones (knee) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Fantasy Tip: It's likely that Jones will miss his second straight game with the knee ailment. Jarrett Boykin will continue to benefit from Jones' absence, especially now that Jermichael Finley (spine) is also sidelined.

Packers | Jarrett Boykin bursts onto scene

Sun, 20 Oct 2013 16:41:06 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jarrett Boykin posted 103 receiving yards in the Week 7 game against the Cleveland Browns. He entered the game with just 70 career receiving yards, but saw plenty of action with injuries to WRs Randall Cobb (leg) and James Jones (knee) inactive.

Fantasy Tip: Boykin should continue to be in the mix for targets in the Green Bay offense, especially with TE Jermichael Finley (head) also leaving the game Sunday due to a head injury. Boykin is worth a look as a WR4 or flex play in most fantasy formats.

Packers | James Jones questionable

Fri, 18 Oct 2013 13:32:55 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR James Jones (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 18, and is listed as questionable for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was not able to practice this week, so there is a good chance he sits out the game. If Jones is not able to play, Jarrett Boykin likely will have bigger role in the passing game and could be a flex option for fantasy owners. If Jones is able to play, he should not be considered more than a risky flex option because of the injury.

Packers | James Jones misses practice

Thu, 17 Oct 2013 15:00:23 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR James Jones (knee) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 17.

Fantasy Tip: A second straight day of missed practice for Jones doesn't bode well for his chances of suiting up in Week 7. Jarrett Boykin will be present in Green Bay's three-wide sets against the Cleveland Browns. He's more of a desperation play if your starting wideouts are either injured or on bye.

Packers | Jermichael Finley may be used as WR

Tue, 15 Oct 2013 15:30:25 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley may line up as a wide receiver starting in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns with WR Randall Cobb (fibula) on the Injured Reserve and WR James Jones' (knee) availability in question.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb will be out until the final month of the season, so Finley's usage and targets will go up rather significantly, assuming Green Bay doesn't shift to a heavy run-centric game. Jarrett Boykin deserves consideration as a waiver wire addition; he'll be lined up often in the team's three-receiver sets without Cobb around.

Packers | Jermichael Finley to have bigger role?

Tue, 15 Oct 2013 09:05:58 -0700

The Green Bay Packers were forced to use mostly two-tight end, two-receiver, one-back sets when WRs James Jones (shin) and Randall Cobb (knee) were injured and left the Week 6 game. TE Jermichael Finley had all three of his catches for 75 yards in the second half of the contest with Jones and Cobb absent, meaning he could take on a much bigger role moving forward. "I don't know that his role will change," offensive coordinator Tom Clements said. "He's always been a focal point of the offense. Depending if Randall or James or both aren't in there then obviously he may get more opportunities, but we try to get him as many opportunities as we can based on how the defense is playing. Whoever's in there is going to have to come up and make plays. I'm certain he'll make his share."

WR Jarrett Boykin dropped two passes and caught just one of his six targets after Jones and Cobb left the game. The Packers may add WR Reggie Dunn off the practice squad or sign WR Tavarres King off the practice squad of the Denver Broncos. QB Aaron Rodgers had his lowest completion percentage (53.1 percent on 17 of 32 passing) against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Finley should be expected to receive more targets with Cobb out, and Jorday Nelson will likely see a similar boost in value. The Packers may also have to rely more on handing the ball off to Eddie Lacy. Either way you look at it, it would seem that this hurts the stock of Aaron Rodgers, too.

Packers | Randall Cobb expected to miss 6-8 weeks

Mon, 14 Oct 2013 15:00:59 -0700

Updating previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (leg) is expected to miss six to eight weeks because of a fractured fibula he suffered Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Cobb owners can consider dropping him in their leagues because he may not be back until the last month of the season. Owners in deeper leagues should look to add Jarrett Boykin because his role in the passing game probably will increase substantially with Cobb out with a long-term injury.

Packers | Randall Cobb expected to miss several weeks

Mon, 14 Oct 2013 13:22:27 -0700

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said WR Randall Cobb (knee) will miss several weeks because of the knee injury he suffered Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: With Cobb missing time, Jarrett Boykin and Jermichael Finley likely will receive bigger roles in the passing game. Owners in deeper leagues could consider adding Boykin as a flex option. Finley was performing well before Cobb's injury, but now should be seen as a safe starting tight end option each week. James Jones could also see a bump in value depending on when he will be able to return from his injury.

Thu, 01 Nov 2012 14:27:02 -0700

"There's an expectation around here that when a guy goes down, the next guy up has got to step in and play well. Jarrett's going to get some more opportunities and we feel confident. There's a reason we kept him on the team after training camp, it's because he's going to be a big-time player for us at some point."
