Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak indicated OG Brandon Brooks could get first opportunity at the starting right guard next season because he did well there at the end of the 2012 season and that the team would like to use OG Ben Jones as the backup at center and both guard spots.

The Houston Texans indicated they are content with OT Derek Newton as their starting right tackle and allowing OG Brandon Brooks and OG Ben Jones to compete for the starting right guard job. The team could also rotate Brooks and Jones at that spot like they did in 2012.

Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said the team planned to rotate OG Antoine Caldwell and C Ben Jones at right guard in Week 2. "I told Gump (Antoine Caldwell) going into this week we were gonna play Ben every third series, we were gonna give him some snaps," Kubiak said. "First off, Ben's doing some good things, and obviously, I'm pushing Gump to be the best he can be as a player from a consistency standpoint. Everybody's going to have to contribute. But it was a plan going into the game."

Houston Texans OG Antoine Caldwell made the start at right guard in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he was lifted in favor of C Ben Jones. The move was apparently due to coach's decision, and not because of an injury.
