Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn said he like the speed LBs K.J. Wright, Bobby Wagner and Malcolm Smith brings to the defense. "I think the thing that jumps out is just the speed of those guys who are playing linebacker," Quinn said. "Sometimes that translates into being a good blitzer. Sometimes it doesn't. But the versatility for us is having a guy who can play on the end of the line, show the ability to cover, and then now when you add the pass rush element to it, I think that's when you really develop as a player."

Seattle Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner said he believes the Seahawks will surpass the San Francisco 49ers as the team to beat in the NFC West. "I definitely think we're ready to pass them," Wagner said. "We have the talent on both offense and defense. Our defense is pretty strong and our offense is pretty strong too. If we continue to put everything together, we should surpass them."

Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley said the team has been impressed so far with the development of LB Bobby Wagner. As a result, the Seahawks are trying to speed up his learning curve, including having Wagner make all the calls in the defensive huddle. "That's probably the biggest adjustment," said Bradley. "We got Kam Chancellor, Red Bryant, but this guy (the middle linebacker) is in front of the huddle every play. And he's giving the calls, he's setting our front, he's making checks, so they really rely on him."

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said the race for the team's middle linebacker job is wide open among second-round draft pick LB Bobby Wagner and veteran LBs Matt McCoy and Barrett Ruud. Wagner will be given every chance to win the job as Carroll would love to get his speed on the field. "But he's got to do it," Carroll said. "He's got a long ways to go before he can take that on."

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with second-round draft choice LB Bobby Wagner, fifth-round draft choice LB Korey Toomer, sixth-round draft choices CB Jeremy Lane and SS Winston Guy and seventh-round draft choices OG J.R. Sweezy and DE Greg Scruggs. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said the team was interested in Seattle Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner and would have taken him if they still had their second-round draft choice. The Seahawks selected Wagner in the second round.
