Raiders | Marshawn Lynch staying put |
Thu, 15 Mar 2018 12:46:44 -0700
Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch will not be released despite the addition of RB Doug Martin.
Fantasy Tip: Oakland's backfield is somewhat of a conundrum with Martin now. He and Lynch figure to be in on the first two downs with Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington splitting time on passing downs. Lynch remains the most valuable fantasy back, but his ceiling is obviously lowered with Martin. Don't draft Lynch as more than a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3.

Raiders | Doug Martin agrees with Raiders |
Thu, 15 Mar 2018 11:27:45 -0700
Free-agent RB Doug Martin (Buccaneers) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Oakland Raiders Thursday, March 15, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Marshawn Lynch should be able to hold off the oft-injured Martin for the starting job, but this move puts a damper on his fantasy value. Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington will maintain pass-catching duties, so Martin is no more than a flex in this scenario.

Raiders | Doug Martin meets with Oakland |
Fri, 09 Mar 2018 12:01:34 -0800
Free-agent RB Doug Martin (Buccaneers) recently had a face-to-face meeting with Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden, who was reportedly "impressed with him as a person." As such, the Raiders are expected to make a "strong push" for him in free agency.
Fantasy Tip: Any interest or push in Martin could be taken as a sign that Gruden isn't sold on Marshawn Lynch, although Martin doesn't really possess anything Lynch doesn't have skill-wise (the 29-year-old Martin is about three years younger). If Oakland lands the former Buc, it is possible the Raiders move on from Lynch and complement Martin with DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin cut |
Tue, 20 Feb 2018 08:19:53 -0800
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin was released Tuesday, Feb. 20. The Bucs will save $6.75 million. Due to the structure of his contract, the team will absorb no dead money on their salary cap.
Fantasy Tip: Other than a resurgence in 2015, Martin has been a perennial fantasy disappointment after a monster rookie season. Those are the only two seasons he has managed to play at least 12 games. He's 29 and could be an interesting piece of a committee. Monitor where he lands for a potential RB3 grab.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin not returning? |
Wed, 17 Jan 2018 11:21:24 -0800
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin has "no chance" of being on Tampa Bay's roster next season, in the opinion of the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud.
Fantasy Tip: Martin has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career, playing in just 16 games over the last two seasons. His production lacked when he was playing, so there is merit to releasing Martin. At 29 years old, he may be over the football hill. Peyton Barber, Charles Sims and Jacquizz Rodgers are more than capable of manning the Bucs' backfield.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin 'wasn't ever the same' in 2017 |
Tue, 16 Jan 2018 09:16:01 -0800
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin failed to rush for even 500 yards for the fourth time in five years. General manager Jason Licht attributed Martin's most recent disappointing season to his season-opening suspension and the idea he wasn't able to reach the form he showed in the preseason after returning from his three-game absence. "I think the lack of, or having a hard time getting the run game going was…you know, Doug just didn't have…he just wasn't ever the same. And it wasn't until late that Peyton (Barber) kind of arrived and things started going a little bit better with him, starting with the Green Bay game and on and on," Licht said.
Fantasy Tip: It's a weak excuse, especially considering Martin looked sharp in his season debut against the New England Patriots in Week 5. Martin obviously wasn't able to find the same form, but his offensive line didn't do him any favors either - even before injuries really started to strike the front five. Either way, Martin is likely done in Tampa Bay, which figures to add a running back in the first two to three rounds of the upcoming NFL Draft.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin bottled up in Charlotte |
Sun, 24 Dec 2017 13:43:34 -0800
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin rushed six times for seven yards in Week 16 against the Carolina Panthers and he did not have any receptions or targets.
Fantasy Tip: Martin was awful, outplayed by Peyton Barber badly. While Carolina's defense is rather stout, Barber was still able to average 3.9 yards per run to Martin's 1.2 yards per tote. His future in Tampa looks rather murky at the moment, as does his fantasy outlook.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin set to rejoin team? |
Tue, 19 Dec 2017 09:52:27 -0800
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin's one-game suspension is "behind us now," according to head coach Dirk Koetter.
Fantasy Tip: Koetter has yet to specify what infraction Martin actually committed, but it would be far from surprising if Martin did not play another snap for the Buccaneers. The 28-year-old back voided all of his remaining guaranteed money with his suspension last season and Peyton Barber has filled in adequately when given the chance this season. Martin will almost certainly be playing somewhere else in 2018.

Buccaneers | Doug Martin violated team rules |
Mon, 18 Dec 2017 16:31:46 -0800
Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin has been declared inactive for the team's Week 15 game because he violated team rules.
Fantasy Tip: Martin was the starting running back earlier in the season but could lose the job if Peyton Barber plays well in Week 15. Owners in all leagues should probably avoid Martin for the final two games of the season if he plays.
