Texans | Tom Savage impressing in training camp

Sun, 07 Aug 2016 07:18:01 -0700

Houston Texans QB Tom Savage has had an impressive first week of training camp, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. "He's really worked hard to change his body, become stronger, become quicker, quicker release," O'Brien said. "He has a much better knowledge of our offense. It takes a while for that position. The only thing Tom needs is an opportunity. Tom is a good football player and he's put a lot of time in to get to where he is right now." Savage is competing with QBs Brandon Weeden and T.J. Yates to serve as the backup to QB Brock Osweiler.

Texans | Brandon Weeden contract details

Fri, 01 Apr 2016 13:31:16 -0700

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans QB Brandon Weeden re-signed to a two-year, $4 million contract Friday, April 1, according to a source. The move could lead to the release of QB Brian Hoyer.

Fantasy Tip: It would be a surprise at this point if Hoyer was not released. The Texans will start Brock Osweiler with Weeden backing him up. Teams like the Denver Broncos and New York Jets could take a chance on Hoyer, but he won't be in the QB1 conversation any time soon.

Houston Texans QB Brandon Weeden said he would "absolutely" like to return to the team next season.

Fantasy Tip: Weeden was one of four quarterbacks that saw playing time for the Texans this year, but the team's ong-term solution at quarterback probably isn't currently on the roster.

Texans | Brandon Weeden accounts for three TDs

Texans | Brandon Weeden starting Sunday

Houston Texans QB Brandon Weeden will start Week 16's game against the Tennessee Titans, with recently-signed B.J. Daniels serving as the No. 2 quarterback. QB Brian Hoyer (concussion) has been ruled out.

Fantasy Tip: Weeden ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) went 11-for-18 for 105 yards and a touchdown in relief of T.J. Yates during Week 15's game against the Indianapolis Colts but he is not a recommended starting option in any fantasy format. Hoyer traveled with the team to Tennessee but wasn't cleared to resume playing.

Texans | Brian Hoyer will not play

Sat, 26 Dec 2015 07:35:13 -0800

Houston Texans QB Brian Hoyer (concussion) will not play against the Tennessee Titans in Week 16 because he still has not received clearance to play, according to a source. QB Brandon Weeden will serve as the starting quarterback for the team.

Fantasy Tip: Weeden ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) probably will not be asked to throw much during the game but does have some solid weapons to work with in the passing game. Weeden is not a strong fantasy option and could be avoided in most leagues.

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 14:50:14 -0800

Houston Texans QB Brandon Weeden went 11-for-18 for 105 yards and one touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 15. He entered the game after QB T.J. Yates (knee) suffered his knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Weeden will start next week, so owners should keep an eye out on the situation during practice. Weeden probably would not be a solid fantasy option this week against the Tennessee Titans if he receives the start.
