Eagles | No updates on Nick Foles

Tue, 18 Nov 2014 11:01:29 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone), who cracked his clavicle in Week 8, is expected to miss at least another month, but head coach Chip Kelly said there have been no recent updates on his condition. "No," Kelly said. "He'll get a re-check at some point in time, but they said it's usually three to four weeks out before they ever take another x-ray. So he has not had that done yet." Foles has been working out, but not in game conditions.

Fantasy Tip: Foles shouldn't be a consideration for fantasy teams for the rest of the season. Mark Sanchez ($6,500) came back down to earth a bit in Week 11, but he still put up points, and he has a great opportunity against the Tennessee Titans this weekend.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone) didn't practice Saturday, Nov. 8, and is out for Week 10.

Eagles | Nick Foles' long-term future cloudy?

Tue, 04 Nov 2014 13:47:33 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles' long-term future with the team was in doubt before he broke his collarbone in Week 9, according to people with knowledge of the team's plan. Foles' inconsistent play this year has "soured" some in the organization, including general manager Howie Roseman, according to sources. Foles has thrown 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this year for a quarterback rating of 81.9. The people that drafted Foles in 2012 are no longer with the team, too. Roseman and his scouts preferred Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins to Foles, but then head coach Andy Reid insisted on Foles.

Fantasy Tip: Many believe that Chip Kelly's system can make almost any quarterback successful, including Mark Sanchez, who will take over with Foles injured. Sanchez ($4,400) could be a fine sleeper play against the Carolina Panthers on Monday night.

Mon, 03 Nov 2014 14:11:09 -0800

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (clavicle) is expected to miss six to eight weeks because of his fractured clavicle, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Owners in single-year leagues can consider dropping Foles since he likely will miss all but a few weeks of the remaining schedule. Mark Sanchez will start in his place and should be a matchup play.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (clavicle) will not need to undergo surgery on his fractured clavicle, according to a source. The team hopes Foles will be able to return in around six weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Mark Sanchez will be the starting quarterback while Foles is out. Sanchez should be considered a matchup play most weeks if owners are looking for a quarterback. Sanchez could be a solid starting option against the Carolina Panthers.

Eagles | Nick Foles has cracked collarbone

Mon, 03 Nov 2014 10:12:39 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (clavicle) underwent an MRI Monday, Nov. 3, and has been diagnosed with a cracked clavicle, according to head coach Chip Kelly.

Fantasy Tip: Foles likely will miss a few weeks because of the injury, so Mark Sanchez should be the starting quarterback during that span. Sanchez could be a cheap starting option on FantasyScore this week against the Carolina Panthers.

Eagles | Nick Foles has broken collarbone

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 19:06:38 -0800

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone) suffered a broken collarbone in the Week 9 game against the Houston Texans, a source confirmed Sunday, Nov. 2. An MRI Monday, Nov. 3, will determine how long Foles will be sidelined.

Fantasy Tip: Foles is likely to miss multiple games, so Mark Sanchez is expected to take over under center. FantasyScore owners will be especially interested in Sanchez in Week 10 in a Monday night matchup against the Carolina Panthers and their leaky pass defense.

Eagles | Nick Foles has arm in sling

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 15:22:08 -0800

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone) had his arm in a sling after the Week 9 game against the Houston Texans, but head coach Chip Kelly said Sunday, Nov. 2, that he did not know any more than that.

Fantasy Tip: Mark Sanchez finished up for the injured Foles, and would likely start in Week 10 if Foles if forced to miss any time due to his injury.

Eagles | Nick Foles has collarbone injury

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 12:21:51 -0800

Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone) is believed to be dealing with a collarbone injury.

Fantasy Tip: There is a chance Foles could miss several weeks depending on the severity of the injury. Mark Sanchez likely would be the starting quarterback if Foles misses some games. Sanchez may be an option for owners next week since he could have some success against the Carolina Panthers.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (shoulder) left the team's Week 9 game early because of a shoulder injury and went to the locker room for X-rays. He is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Mark Sanchez will replace Foles in the game and could start if Foles misses any more games but may not be the best option for owners. Owners will need to monitor the situation to receive an update on Foles' condition.

Eagles | Nick Foles needs to improve

Fri, 31 Oct 2014 10:10:20 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles knows that he needs to improve and limit his turnovers on game days. "A few plays, fundamentally I just missed it," Foles said. "I think I just have to continue to work through practice and in the game, just trust it. Trust my footwork, trust the pocket. Just because I made a few mistakes, I'm not going to not throw it when I don't have my feet under me. It's decision-making where I really have to get better."

Fantasy Tip: Foles, in his second season, is having his ups and downs after a surprising rookie season in 2014. It's a reminder that his owners should temper their expectations for him as a low-end QB1 based on the matchups. In Week 9 against the Houston Texans, he costs $7,700 (15.4% of cap) at FantasyScore.

Eagles | Nick Foles loses in Arizona return

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 17:51:19 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles completed 36 of his 62 pass attempts for 411 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 8 game against the Arizona Cardinals. His 62 pass attempts tied the franchise record set by former QB Randall Cunningham in 1989. Foles is also the first Eagles QB with nine interceptions through seven games since Cunningham, also in 1989.

Fantasy Tip: Foles had a big performance against a leaky Cardinals pass defense in his return to the state he played his college ball (University of Arizona). He remains a solid fantasy option when the matchup is right, although he has certainly taken a step back from last season's breakout performance.

Eagles | Nick Foles leads in turnovers

Mon, 13 Oct 2014 09:18:53 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles leads the league with 10 turnovers this year (seven interceptions and three fumbles). Last season, he had 29 touchdown passes, including the playoffs, and just two interceptions.

Fantasy Tip: Foles' excellent 2013 season was mainly a byproduct of Chip Kelly's new fast-tempo offense. He's still a serviceable quarterback with plenty of weapons, but we're seeing that he's still young and learning. Foles is a matchup play but is better as a QB2.

Eagles | Expectations too high for Nick Foles?

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 10:07:40 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles entered last season as the full-time starter and jumped into a situation with head coach Chip Kelly's offense catching other teams off guard because of its ingenuity. Also, the offensive line was mostly veteran and 100 percent healthy. Foles didn't have to do much to be successful. Coming into the season, expectations were that he'd be the franchise quarterback. However, Foles has struggled due to lack of experience and a changing scene around him. "He's playing on a team where we're less than perfect in a lot of ways," offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur acknowledged. Foles has made some terrible throws this year, and he isn't always setting his feet or sliding in the pocket. "I'm progressing. I'm continuing to learn. I might not go out there and have the stats that are perfect, but I'm going to keep on working to be the quarterback I know these (coaches) want me to be," Foles said.

Fantasy Tip: Foles' FantasyScore salary this week is $8,100 (16.2% of cap) against the New York Giants. He's a risk as your starter, and he's preferably a QB2 in standard leagues.

Eagles | Nick Foles working on accuracy

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 16:44:11 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles said he has been working on improving his accuracy during practice this week after missing some throws during the Week 4 game. "I've definitely tried to just take some shots, stretch them out a little bit," Foles said. "I need to be a little more accurate, that's what I'm working on this week, working on that, and staying clean in the pocket so I can deliver the ball to our guys where they can go up and make a play, not where the ball lands in front of them."

Fantasy Tip: Foles is coming off a game where he threw two interceptions and zero touchdowns but will look to improve his play against the St. Louis Rams. Foles costs $8,100 on FantasyScore and could be a good option to use against the Rams.

Eagles | Nick Foles struggling deep

Tue, 30 Sep 2014 06:45:42 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles has completed 25.6 percent of his throws over 20 yards this season. He is on pace to make 156 attempts of 20 or more yards. He had 55 attempts and completed 45 percent of them last season.

Fantasy Tip: Foles doesn't have a pure deep threat now that DeSean Jackson is gone. He has a decent matchup against the St. Louis Rams this week. At $8,100 (16.2% of the cap), he's a weak QB1 on FantasyScore.

Eagles | Nick Foles not hitting deep passes

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 14:44:23 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles did not complete any of his 10 passes that traveled at least 20 yards down the field in Week 4, and two of those passes were intercepted. Foles completed 35.3 percent of his passes that went at least 20 yards last season but is completing only 17.2 percent of those throws this season. Head coach Chip Kelly said he does not believe his deep passes are being affected by his banged up left shoulder because the passes are not being underthrown.

Fantasy Tip: Foles has not been able to duplicate his 2013 season so far in 2014 but was able to put up solid numbers in the three games before Week 4. Foles could get more time in the pocket moving forward since Lane Johnson has returned from his suspension. Foles should still be seen as a solid option to start for most owners.

Eagles | Nick Foles adequate in win

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 20:02:18 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles completed 21 of his 37 pass attempts for 331 yards, one touchdowns and one interception in the Week 2 game against the Indianapolis Colts Monday, Sept. 15. He also ran four times for 22 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Foles went over 300 yards for the second straight week, and he has posted a total of three TD strikes. He remains a Top 10 fantasy option at his position, despite the lack of TD passes through the first two games.

Eagles | Nick Foles ready to improve

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 19:41:24 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles said the indecisiveness that led to him missing several open receivers in the team's Week 1 game is a "correctable" issue.

Fantasy Tip: Despite missing plenty of big-play opportunities, Foles still finished with 322 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1, and he should continue to pile up yards and touchdowns as long as he is running Chip Kelly's offense. His $7,500 salary (15% of cap) in FantasyScore ranks 10th among quarterbacks this weekend, and he offers plenty of upside for the price against an Indianapolis secondary that is average at best.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles completed 19 of 29 passes for 179 yards with one touchdown and one interception during the team's preseason game Thursday, Aug. 21. He led the offense to three scoring drives in the first half.

Fantasy Tip: Foles and Chip Kelly's offensive system seem to be made for each other, and Foles is a starting-caliber fantasy quarterback in any format.

Eagles | Nick Foles bounces back

Sat, 16 Aug 2014 12:11:47 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles performed well against the New England Patriots Friday, Aug. 15, following a poor outing in the team's first preseason game. Head coach Chip Kelly said he was pleased with Foles' play and how he moved the team down the field.

Fantasy Tip: Foles should continue to progress as the regular season inches closer. He is solidly in QB1 territory.

Eagles | Nick Foles picked off twice in preseason opener

Fri, 08 Aug 2014 19:27:19 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles completed six of his nine pass attempts for 44 yards in the preseason opener against the Chicago Bears Friday, Aug. 8, but he was also picked off twice.

Fantasy Tip: Foles was intercepted just two times all of last season, but fantasy owners shouldn’t be too concerned just yet. Still, Foles is expected to take a slight step backward this season, but he should still be a No. 1 fantasy type heading into the regular season.

Eagles | Nick Foles focusing on improving

Tue, 08 Jul 2014 14:16:17 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles recently said his goals for this season include continuing to move better in the pocket, to be more efficient and to stay tight. He added that he wants to be smart with the ball and find his checkdowns early. Foles admitted improvement is "an everyday thing, but so far, we're looking good."

Fantasy Tip: Despite losing DeSean Jackson, the Eagles should still be one of the most prolific offenses in the league under head coach Chip Kelly. Foles averaged 22.5 fantasy points per game last season, which would have put him in QB5-QB6 territory for a full 16 game season. Consider him a QB1 in the Eagles' potent offense.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy praises Nick Foles

Thu, 03 Jul 2014 12:21:26 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy praised QB Nick Foles, saying this is the year Foles has a great season. "Nick, he wants to play, he wants to get better," McCoy said. "He's playing lights-out even in camp, but he still wants to be at a higher level. He's at that peak where people know him like, 'Man, this Foles, is he that good?' Because you see the stats, you see the numbers. I think this is the year he blows 'em out like, 'Yeah, I'm Nick Foles. I'm Philadelphia's quarterback. I'm the guy.' And this is the year he blows it away."

Fantasy Tip: Foles surprised everyone and had a fantastic season in 2013, but losing his best wide receiver in DeSean Jackson may be a lot to overcome in 2014. Temper your expectations with Foles.

Eagles | Nick Foles had most yards per attempt

Thu, 03 Jul 2014 08:34:29 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles led all of quarterbacks last year with 9.1 yards per attempt in the team's quick offense, and he also led the league with a passer rating of 119.2. Foles had a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 27:2.

Fantasy Tip: Foles burst onto the scene unexpectedly and had a magical season in 2013, and Chip Kelly's up-tempo offense meshed perfectly with Foles' strong arm. Unfortunately, he'll lose his most trusted target in DeSean Jackson. Expecting a repeat might be asking a lot. Foles will have some great games, but we're hesitant to stamp him as an elite QB1 this quickly.

Eagles | OC impressed with Nick Foles' smarts

Fri, 20 Jun 2014 14:09:14 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles has impressed new quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave with his ability to process everything that is happening on the field quickly. "We know he's a gifted athlete. He can throw the ball exactly where he wants to. He can add air, add touch. He can add velocity and really drive it when it's needed. But to see the way that he can visualize formations, coverages, and process what he sees has been impressive," Musgrave said. Musgrave thinks Foles can work on getting rid of the ball faster, taking fewer hits and moving the ball forward with his legs when needed.

Fantasy Tip: Foles was impressive in Chip Kelly's up-tempo offense last year, but the loss of DeSean Jackson is troubling. Temper your expectations a bit for Foles in his follow-up campaign. Trusting him as a true QB1 is risky.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles said he's not worried about signing a contract extension with the team. According to the collective bargaining agreement, he isn't even eligible to sign an extension from his rookie year contract until after the 2014 season. "I've always said how I play, how our team is, how I am as a leader -- that will all take care of that when the time comes," Foles said. "I'm really just having fun out here. I'm having fun with my teammates. I'm having fun playing the game."
