Chiefs | Nick Foles debuts with new team

Sat, 13 Aug 2016 19:03:50 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Nick Foles made his team debut in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 13, against the Seattle Seahawks. He completed half of his eight attempts for 37 yards and he ran once for two yards.

Fantasy Tip: Foles is battling the likes of former college standouts Tyler Bray, Kevin Hogan and Aaron Murray for the backup job to Alex Smith. The winner of the backup job still has very little fantasy relevance.

Chiefs | Nick Foles terms

Thu, 04 Aug 2016 08:33:35 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Kansas City Chiefs QB Nick Foles' contract is a one-year deal with a team option for a second year. He'll earn $1.75 million with incentives in 2016. His option for 2017 ranges between $6.75 million and $16 million based on 2016 performance.

Fantasy Tip: Foles has no fantasy value unless something happens to starter Alex Smith. In the event he is pressed into duty, he could still have enough in the tank with upside in this offense to contribute in fantasy.

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams) agreed to terms with the Kansas City Chiefs Wednesday, Aug. 3. Terms weren't disclosed.

Chiefs | K.C. is dark horse for Nick Foles

Wed, 03 Aug 2016 19:15:25 -0700

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams) is a player on the radar of the Kansas City Chiefs, and they are considered a sleeper team for his services, sources said Wednesday, Aug. 3.

Fantasy Tip: If Foles were added by the Chiefs, he would still be the backup to Alex Smith. If he lands in K.C. he would only be worth a look if Smith went down with a long-term injury.

NFL | Nick Foles expected to decide soon

Wed, 03 Aug 2016 14:15:22 -0700

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams) is considering a few options and is expected to make a decision by Wednesday, Aug. 3, or Thursday, Aug. 4, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Foles likely will be a backup quarterback no matter where he plays in 2016, which means owners can avoid him in most leagues.

Cowboys | Dallas has its eye on Nick Foles

Wed, 03 Aug 2016 12:28:02 -0700

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams) is of interest to the Dallas Cowboys, and they have reached out to Foles' agent, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones. However, Jones noted there are other options to replace Cowboys QB Kellen Moore (ankle), including a potential trade, but the organization is doing its due diligence.

Fantasy Tip: With Tony Romo's injury history, Foles could see fleeting value as a QB2 and potential streaming option should he land in the starting gig. Foles should sign somewhere soon, and since he's not going to be a starter initially, Dallas isn't a bad spot for his fantasy potential. He's only worth drafting as a stash candidate in SuperFlex or two-QB settings.

Cowboys | Dallas interested in Nick Foles?

Tue, 02 Aug 2016 18:25:49 -0700

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams) might be of interest to the Dallas Cowboys after losing backup QB Kellen Moore (ankle) to a broken ankle. He is represented by the same agents as head coach Jason Garrett, offensive coordinator Scott Linehan and Moore.

Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys were reportedly kicking the tires on Foles before the injury to Moore, now they're in desperate need of a backup. He wouldn't have much in the way of fantasy appeal unless Tony Romo goes down with a long-term injury, but Foles could do some damage if he gets in there with Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, etc. He would be a huge upgrade over Moore and last year's backup Brandon Weeden.

49ers | San Francisco not looking at Nick Foles

Mon, 01 Aug 2016 10:49:17 -0700

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams) is not an option for the San Francisco 49ers, according to head coach Chip Kelly.

Fantasy Tip: The 49ers are going with either Blaine Gabbert or Colin Kaepernick as their starting quarterback in 2016. Kaepernick would be the better option for fantasy owners but neither player is a No. 1 quarterback for owners. Foles probably will be able to find a backup job with a team during the preseason but will not have much fantasy value.

Bills | Nick Foles unlikely an option for Bills

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 15:39:36 -0700

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams) likely will not be an option for the Buffalo Bills because general manager Doug Whaley said the team is happy with their quarterback situation.

Fantasy Tip: Foles should be able to find a backup job during the preseason but will not have much fantasy value unless he becomes a starter.

NFL | Dallas out on free-agent Nick Foles

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 12:23:06 -0700

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams) is not an option for the Dallas Cowboys, owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Friday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: Foles will likely start the season in a backup role, which makes him a fantasy afterthought in the majority of leagues. Although, should he find his way into a starting gig, he would return to being a low-end QB2 worth owning in two-QB leagues and a potential streaming and DFS option in favorable matchups.

Vikings | Nick Foles could start for Vikings

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 18:20:38 -0700

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams) would be given the chance to start for the Minnesota Vikings if he does sign.

Fantasy Tip: It's not terribly plausible that Foles would beat out Teddy Bridgewater even if he does join the Vikings. Foles' fantasy value remains next to nonexistent and he can keep being avoided in all formats.

Broncos | Nick Foles not an option in Denver

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 06:44:10 -0700

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams) isn't an option the Denver Broncos are interested in, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Fantasy Tip: Foles is likely to land somewhere as a backup and could be worth a mid-season waiver claim if an injury or demotion prompts him to start.

Vikings | Minnesota eyeing Nick Foles?

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 22:50:55 -0700

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams) might be of interest to the Minnesota Vikings, one of three teams believed to be in on the quarterback, according to a source. The Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys are also believed to be interested.

Fantasy Tip: Foles would serve as the backup to Teddy Bridgewater, so unless disaster struck in Minnesota Foles would be the No. 2 and have zero fantasy appeal.

Cowboys | Nick Foles to join Dallas?

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 22:47:22 -0700

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams) is drawing interest from the Dallas Cowboys, joining the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings, according to a source. The New York Jets also had interest in Foles, but after signing QB Ryan Fitzpatrick it's unlikely the Jets are still interested.

Fantasy Tip: Foles might land in Big D, but with Tony Romo in place as the starter you can expect Foles to serve as the 2016 version of Brandon Weeden. In other words, he would only step in if the starter is injured, and can go undrafted in most fantasy formats.

Bills | Buffalo among those in on Nick Foles

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 22:44:03 -0700

The Buffalo Bills are one of three teams interested in free-agent QB Nick Foles (Rams), a source said Wednesday, July 27. The Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings also have interest, while the New York Jets were interested but are now likely out after re-signing QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills already have Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel, so if Foles were added it would likely mean the team is ending the Manuel experiment. Either way, if Foles ended up in Buffalo he wouldn't have much fantasy appeal unless injuries created a starting situation.

Rams | Nick Foles released

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 12:49:47 -0700

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles was released Wednesday, July 27.

Fantasy Tip: Foles should have a decent chance to find a backup quarterback job with a team during training camp but will not have any fantasy value unless he starts.

Rams | Nick Foles should be at camp

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 11:47:12 -0700

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles is expected to be present for training camp as the Rams wait for a quarterback vacancy or possible trade partner.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Foles stays with the club, he'll be behind Jared Goff and Case Keenum. Foles can be avoided in all formats.

Jets | Ryan Fitzpatrick stance could escalate

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 16:17:42 -0700

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick's (Jets) impasse with the New York Jets could be more heavily addressed in the coming weeks, according to ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini. Head coach Todd Bowles said the Jets could wait until training camp in late July, but Cimini believes New York will want to get something done before that.

Furthermore, if Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles is released, then it could prompt the Jets to force the issue with their prodigal quarterback, as Foles could be deemed a last-chance option for a veteran signal-caller.

Fantasy Tip: This has been one of the more intriguing situations that have unfolded this offseason. It still seems unlikely that Fitzpatrick won't be playing for the Jets in 2016, but we'll see who wins this game of chicken. If Fitzpatrick does re-sign, he's worth a look as a high-end backup fantasy quarterback.

Rams | Nick Foles' absence OK with coach

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 15:15:21 -0700

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles has not participated in organized team activities yet, but head coach Jeff Fisher is OK with Foles being absent. Fisher said he and Foles are on the same page. Foles is disgruntled at the prospect of possibly not being on the Rams' roster in 2016. Fisher said Foles prefers to stay away and get things worked out at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Foles doesn't end up being traded or released, he would still likely be the No. 3 quarterback, at best, behind Jared Goff and Case Keenum. Foles' fantasy value is nearly non-existent for the time being.

Rams | Nick Foles skipping workouts

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 06:18:48 -0700

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles has not participated in any offseason workouts since the team selected QB Jared Goff with the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, according to sources. Foles was not present for organized team activities Tuesday, May 31.

Fantasy Tip: Foles likely will be a backup quarterback if he remains with the Rams, so he may be looking to be traded or released. Foles probably would not be able to find a starting job with any team this season and will not have much fantasy value.

Rams | Two Rams QBs up for grabs

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 11:42:33 -0700

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles is on the trade block, and the Rams are willing to listen to offers for QB Case Keenum as well.

Fantasy Tip: One of the two could wind up starting to open the season, and Keenum figures to be ahead of Foles. Jared Goff has a chance to start if the team feels he's ready. Goff has the most fantasy value, but it's as a low-end QB2. His value is more prevalent in dynasty leagues. The other two don't have much fantasy promise.

Rams | Los Angeles hoping to trade Nick Foles

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 16:10:55 -0700

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles could be traded as a result of the Rams likely drafting a quarterback Thursday, April 28, on the first day of the NFL draft. Several teams have already expressed interest in Foles, but if he is unable to be swapped then he will likely be released.

Fantasy Tip: Foles will almost definitely be playing for another team in 2016, and it will probably be as a backup. His fantasy appeal is essentially non-existent right now.

Rams | Nick Foles receiving interest

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 11:01:06 -0700

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles is a trade target for several teams, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Foles could be traded at some point during the draft, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. Foles has had some success as a starting quarterback but would only be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he is a starter in 2016.

Rams | Nick Foles to be cut soon?

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 11:37:41 -0700

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles could be released before the start of training camp, and he will definitely be released before the regular season starts, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Case Keenum is the starting quarterback, and Sean Mannion will probably back him up, although the Rams could very well draft another quarterback. If Keenum does remain the starter, he still won't be worth drafting as an every-week fantasy starter.

Rams | Nick Foles will get chance to start

Tue, 22 Mar 2016 20:16:36 -0700

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles will get a chance at the starting job in training camp and the preseason, head coach Jeff Fisher said Tuesday, March 22. He will battle QB Case Keenum for the starting gig.

Fantasy Tip: Foles would be a QB2 if he is able to unseat Keenum for the starting gig. It's possible the team also adds another quarterback via the draft or free agency, so stay tuned.

Rams | Three teams could be in on Nick Foles

Fri, 04 Mar 2016 10:14:40 -0800

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles will likely draw interest from the Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins if the Rams look to trade him.

Fantasy Tip: Foles didn't have a lot to work with last season and could be a low-end QB2 with some upside if he lands in a place to compete as the starter.

Rams | Nick Foles could be paid to leave

Tue, 23 Feb 2016 11:18:47 -0800

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles could be released this offseason, but the Rams would likely have to pay him still. He is due $8.75 million in 2016 with $6 million already guaranteed, including another $1.75 million guaranteed by mid-March.

Fantasy Tip: Case Keenum was named the starter by head coach Jeff Fisher after the end of last season, so Foles is on the outside looking in even before offseason activities commence. Even if he is released, he may not even start, and he definitely won't be worth starting on your fantasy squads.

Rams | Might RG3 be good fit for L.A.?

Mon, 15 Feb 2016 22:54:36 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III is likely to be released until they can find a trade partner. The Los Angeles Rams depth chart has QBs Case Keenum, Nick Foles and Sean Mannion, so Griffin could potentially be an upgrade for the team.

Fantasy Tip: It's all speculation as to what will happen with RG3, but it would be ironic if he lands with the Rams, a team which benefitted tremendously when it swapped picks with the Redskins so they could land Griffin. Stay tuned.

Eagles | Nick Foles of interest to Eagles?

Mon, 08 Feb 2016 13:16:27 -0800

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles is expected to be inquired about rejoining the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Sam Bradford will not receive the Eagles' franchise tag, so Philadelphia could very well be planning to move on from Bradford after one year. Bringing back Foles seems puzzling, though, as he didn't really work out in his first stint with the Eagles and did nothing productive with the Rams either. Neither Bradford nor Foles should be viewed as a starting fantasy quarterback right now.

Eagles | Philly not pursuing Nick Foles?

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 17:12:35 -0800

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles has no chance of being reacquired by the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a league source.

Fantasy Tip: Reports previously said that new head coach Doug Pederson was interested in bringing back Foles, but for now, it remains unclear who will be under center for the Eagles in 2016.

Eagles | Philly interested in Nick Foles?

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 10:23:12 -0800

Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles could be an option for the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason because head coach Doug Pederson drafted them when they were both with Philadelphia and is interested in Foles, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Foles finished the season as a backup after being the starting quarterback back for most of the season. Foles did not have a lot of success when he did play in 2015 and probably would not be more than a backup option in most fantasy leagues if he won a starting job.

Rams | Case Keenum enters offseason as starter

Mon, 04 Jan 2016 17:30:37 -0800

St. Louis Rams QB Case Keenum enters the offseason as the starting quarterback, head coach Jeff Fisher said Monday, Jan. 4. He said QB Nick Foles will get a chance to compete, and the team will also evaluate outside options.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum and Foles were each unimpressive in their stints as the starting signal caller, and it wouldn't be surprising to see the Rams look outside of the organization or to the draft for an immediate upgrade.

Rams | Nick Foles has awful outing

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 17:46:09 -0800

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles completed just 15 of his 35 pass attempts for 146 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in the Week 13 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Foles will be back to the bench in Week 14 against the Detroit Lions, so avoid him in all fantasy formats.

Rams | Case Keenum to serve as backup Sunday

Sun, 06 Dec 2015 09:10:49 -0800

St. Louis Rams QB Case Keenum (concussion) is serving as the backup to QB Nick Foles for Week 13's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) was limited in practice this week and had been listed as questionable on the team's most recent injury report. Don't be surprised if he regains the starting quarterback job next week if Foles ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has another poor performance today.

Rams | Nick Foles to start in Week 13

Thu, 03 Dec 2015 16:51:23 -0800

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles will start in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. Fisher also said QB Case Keenum (concussion) will serve as Foles' backup if he clears the league's concussion protocol. Even though Foles will start this week, Fisher said Keenum remains the starting quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: The quarterback situation is a mess in St. Louis regardless of the injury to Keenum ($4,600, 9.2% of cap). Foles ($4,600) faces one of the better defenses in the league this weekend. He's definitely not playable on FantasyScore.

Rams | Nick Foles ineffective in return

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 15:14:33 -0800

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles struggled in his return to the lineup, as he was 30 of 46 for 228 yards along with three interceptions in a 31-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Foles ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) had 16 incomplete passes to go with those picks, and no doubt that was a part of the Bengals' strong defense. Foles is a better play against a much weaker defense, but there are much better options out there.

Rams | Nick Foles to start versus CIN

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 09:15:24 -0800

Confirming previous reports, St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles will start against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12, with QB Case Keenum (concussion) still recovering from a concussion.

Fantasy Tip: Foles ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) began the year as the team's No. 1 quarterback but was benched in favor of Keenum for Week 11's game against the Ravens, only to regain the starting job due to injury. Foles has a 75.9 quarterback rating this season, making him 29th out of 31 NFL quarterbacks who qualify, and does not have a favorable matchup this week against one of the league's better pass defenses. He should be avoided in FantasyScore despite the low price.

Rams | Nick Foles should start

Sat, 28 Nov 2015 11:41:28 -0800

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles is expected to start in Week 12 against the Cincinnati Bengals with QB Case Keenum (concussion) still recovering from a concussion, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals have a pretty tough pass defense, and Foles ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has played subpar this year. He's not worth starting in Week 12.

Rams | Nick Foles prepared to start

Fri, 27 Nov 2015 15:14:58 -0800

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles is prepared to start in Week 12 against the Cincinnati Bengals with QB Case Keenum (concussion) still in the concussion protocol, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. However, the Rams will see how Keenum is feeling Sunday, Nov. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) seems unlikely to suit up this weekend. Foles ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has looked ugly under center for St. Louis this year and can't be expected to produce much against a strong Bengals defense. Stay away from both quarterbacks in all formats.

Rams | Nick Foles has guarantees remaining

Tue, 17 Nov 2015 07:12:46 -0800

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles, who was recently benched, has $7.75 million guaranteed remaining on his deal. His 2016 roster bonus of $6 million became guaranteed Aug. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Foles can be dropped in traditional leagues. Case Keenum ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has a decent draw against the Baltimore Ravens, but he doesn't fit the bill for a FantasyScore flyer.

Rams | Nick Foles does nothing again

Sun, 15 Nov 2015 18:53:08 -0800

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles completed 17 of his 36 pass attempts for 200 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in the Week 10 game against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Foles has a new toy in Wes Welker, but Foles was limited to just short and intermediate routes with very little open down the field. His first season has been a challenge in St. Louis, and he isn't worth using most weeks in FantasyScore.

Rams | Nick Foles tosses four picks

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 16:22:52 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles completed 11 of 30 passes for 141 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions in a 24-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Foles ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) hasn't topped 200 yards in the four games since the opener, and he has five touchdowns and five interceptions over the same stretch. Throw in the fact that it looks like the St. Louis offense is going to run through Todd Gurley ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) going forward, and Foles won't have much value at FantasyScore most weeks.

Rams | Nick Foles impresses in Week 4

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 14:40:25 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles threw three touchdowns to help defeat the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Foles did only throw for 171 yards, but in addition to the three scores, he did not turn the ball over. It was his most efficient outing of the year. That being said, he's still not a reliable starting option in seasonal leagues, although he can be a nice value play from time to time on FantasyScore.

Rams | Nick Foles disappoints in loss

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 16:39:28 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles completed 19 of his 28 pass attempts for 197 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in the Week 3 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also ran once for 10 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Foles ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) was a huge disappointment for FantasyScore players who expected more against a Steelers pass defense which entered allowing six TDs through the air, most in the NFL.

Rams | Road woes for Nick Foles?

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 18:51:53 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles faces the Washington Redskins on the road in Week 2, and he has thrown four touchdowns and four interceptions in his last four road games and no touchdowns and two interceptions in his only career road start against Washington.

Fantasy Tip: Foles ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) delivered a solid performance in Week 1 at home against Seattle, but it might not be a bad idea to wait and see how his first road start with the Rams goes before using him at FantasyScore.

Rams | Nick Foles comfortable in St. Louis

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 12:53:58 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles is comfortable with his new team in part because they are running a west coast offense, which he has used in the past. He is showing good chemistry with his new teammates.

Fantasy Tip: Foles appears to be doing well with his new team and will have some weapons to work with on offense, but owners should see how he performs during the preseason. Owners could consider Foles as a No. 2 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Foles can void the 2017 part of his contract if he and the team hit certain incentives. He is scheduled to make $10.75 million in 2017 with a $1.5 million signing bonus but none if it is guaranteed. St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles signed a two-year extension with the team Friday, Aug. 7. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Foles should be the team's starting quarterback for the next few seasons. He was limited to eight games in 2014 when he threw 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Foles will have some weapons to work with and could be a No. 2 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.
