Rams | Nick Foles instilling confidence

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 17:09:32 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles' command of the huddle is something that has been missing from the quarterback position in recent years, according to TE Jared Cook. "Hopefully, he can make all of us better," Cook said. "This is something we've needed the past few years -- somebody to fill the mold, step in, grab the ram by the horns and say, 'Let's go, guys! This is our time!'"

Fantasy Tip: The Rams figure to be a run-first team in 2015, but Foles should still make a solid QB2 in seasonal leagues and a useful weekly play against friendlier matchups.

Rams | STL looks to lock up Nick Foles

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 21:22:09 -0700

The St. Louis Rams are looking to lock up QB Nick Foles to a long-term contract. The two sides have had initial talks, and they're expected to ramp up leading up to the season.

Fantasy Tip: The Rams plan to pound the ball frequently, but there will still be plenty of room for Foles to post big numbers in the offense, too. FantasyScore owners will want to pick and choose their spots to use Foles against the strong NFC West.

Rams | Nick Foles praised by teammates

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 21:09:02 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles was praised by WR Kenny Britt and TE Jared Cook for his performance during OTAs. "We love him," Britt said Thursday, June 4. "Great deep ball, he puts it on the money every time. He can throw every pass in the book."

Fantasy Tip: The Rams' offense will likely center on the power running game, but Foles should still be a useful option at FantasyScore when facing friendlier matchups in 2015.

Rams | St. Louis intends to draft a QB

Fri, 27 Mar 2015 10:14:28 -0700

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said it's the team's intention to draft a quarterback in this year's draft, despite trading for QB Nick Foles in the offseason. Florida State QB Jameis Winston and Oregon QB Marcus Mariota are expected to be off the board when the Rams pick with the 10th overall pick in the first round, but the Rams could also trade up to take one of them. The Rams could also look at the second tier of quarterbacks in this class, which includes Baylor QB Bryce Petty, California-Los Angeles QB Brett Hundley, Oregon QB Sean Mannion and Colorado State QB Garrett Grayson. Petty indicated that he has a visit planned with St. Louis. Rams QBs Austin Davis and Case Keenum will compete for the backup job, and the loser might be on the street if the Rams draft another quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Foles upgrades the Rams offense, but unless St. Louis adds some more playmakers around him, he won't be anything more than a boring QB2 for fantasy purposes. It's highly unlikely that the quarterback the Rams draft takes over the starting job from Foles in 2015.

Rams | Nick Foles didn't see trade coming

Fri, 20 Mar 2015 08:33:03 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Nick Foles said he didn't know the Philadelphia Eagles were looking to trade him, despite rumors swirling about their intentions, and the first time he learned about the move was the moment Eagles head coach Chip Kelly called him to say Foles had been dealt to the Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Foles seemingly needed a fresh start away from Kelly, whether he'll admit it or not. Fantasy owners will be happy, sort of, since the young quarterback has more job security. To the contrary, he also has fewer weapons than he was accustom to in Philly. Consider Foles a No. 2 quarterback with weekly starting consideration based on the matchups. He and his situation are ideal fits for DFS players at FantasyScore.

Eagles | Sam Bradford obtained officially

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 15:56:04 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford has officially been traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles also receive a 2015 fifth-round draft pick and surrender QB Nick Foles and a 2015 sixth-round draft pick and a 2016 second-round draft pick. However, the 2016 second-round pick will go back to Philadelphia if Bradford does not start.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles have lost RB LeSean McCoy and WR Jeremy Maclin already this offseason, so Bradford doesn't have as much to work with as he would have. Still, he seems to be going to a better offense and the Eagles could still make some offensive acquisitions. That being said, Bradford should still not be considered a starting fantasy quarterback, especially with his injury history.

Rams | Nick Foles officially acquired by STL

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 15:52:28 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles has officially been acquired by the St. Louis Rams. The Rams also receive a 2015 sixth-round draft pick and a 2016 second-round draft pick.

Fantasy Tip: Foles doesn't have as much to work with in St. Louis as he did in Philadelphia, though pieces could still be added to the offense. For now, his fantasy value seems to have dipped a bit, though he should still remain in the starting fantasy quarterback conversation if he can stay healthy.

Rams | Nick Foles expected to join Rams

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 13:07:19 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles is close to being acquired by the St. Louis Rams in exchange for QB Sam Bradford, according to sources. The Rams will also receive draft-pick compensation.

Fantasy Tip: Foles likely will be the leading candidates for the starting job entering training camp. Foles does not have a ton of weapons to work with in St. Louis, so owners should see him as a No. 2 fantasy quarterback at this point.

Eagles | Philly rejected trade for Josh Gordon

Mon, 16 Feb 2015 15:27:42 -0800

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon was offered to the Philadelphia Eagles at the start of the 2013 season, but the Eagles did not want to trade QB Nick Foles for Gordon, according to a source. The Eagles were concerned about Gordon's two-game suspension, while the Browns wanted Foles to be their starting quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon struggled in the five games he played in this past season after he served his suspension and is in danger of missing the entire 2015 season since he tested positive for alcohol. Owners should monitor Gordon's status during the offseason but should not count on him as a top fantasy receiver. Foles likely will have to compete for the starting job during training camp and should not be seen as a No. 1 fantasy quarterback even if he wins the job.

Eagles | Teammate endorses Nick Foles

Sat, 17 Jan 2015 19:45:35 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles is the leader of the team and is capable of leading the team to the playoffs, RB LeSean McCoy said Friday, Jan. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries eventually derailed Foles's season, but his numbers had regressed already declined from the previous year. Still, any quarterback playing in Chip Kelly's offense will likely produce worthwhile fantasy numbers.

Eagles | Nick Foles expects to be starter

Mon, 29 Dec 2014 09:49:28 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles expects to return as the starting quarterback next season. "I expect to be back here," Foles said. "I expect to be the quarterback. I love my teammates and I expect to be back out there leading them and winning some games. I'm excited to come back better than I ever have been." Head coach Chip Kelly won't commit yet to Foles as the starting quarterback heading into the offseason. Foles broke his collarbone Nov. 2 and missed the rest of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Foles had an extremely disappointing season this year compared to his rookie year in 2013. His performance this year is more likely indicative of what we can expect from him moving forward, making him nothing more than a solid backup QB for fantasy football owners.

Eagles | Nick Foles not guaranteed spot

Thu, 25 Dec 2014 07:10:15 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles isn't guaranteed to return as the starting quarterback next season, as head coach Chip Kelly said he would evaluate the position in the offseason. Kelly said a decision would be made based on what he has seen to date, rather than what could come to fruition in the future.

Fantasy Tip: Foles is probably the best option the team will have next season unless a better one goes on the trading block. He'll be a low QB1 option in drafts.

Mon, 22 Dec 2014 10:08:34 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone) has been ruled out for the team's Week 17 game.

Fantasy Tip: Mark Sanchez should start tine final regular season game with Foles out. Sanchez has thrown four touchdowns and four interceptions in the last three games, and the team has lost all three games. Sanchez has a favorable matchup against the New York Giants this week, but owners may want a better option.

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 15:45:49 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Mark Sanchez likely will continue to start while Foles is out of the lineup. Sanchez will be playing a Washington Redskins defense that has allowed the most points to opposing quarterbacks this season. Sanchez may be an attractive option on FantasyScore depending on his price.

Eagles | No updates on Nick Foles

Tue, 18 Nov 2014 11:01:29 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (collarbone), who cracked his clavicle in Week 8, is expected to miss at least another month, but head coach Chip Kelly said there have been no recent updates on his condition. "No," Kelly said. "He'll get a re-check at some point in time, but they said it's usually three to four weeks out before they ever take another x-ray. So he has not had that done yet." Foles has been working out, but not in game conditions.

Fantasy Tip: Foles shouldn't be a consideration for fantasy teams for the rest of the season. Mark Sanchez ($6,500) came back down to earth a bit in Week 11, but he still put up points, and he has a great opportunity against the Tennessee Titans this weekend.

Eagles | Nick Foles' long-term future cloudy?

Tue, 04 Nov 2014 13:47:33 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles' long-term future with the team was in doubt before he broke his collarbone in Week 9, according to people with knowledge of the team's plan. Foles' inconsistent play this year has "soured" some in the organization, including general manager Howie Roseman, according to sources. Foles has thrown 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this year for a quarterback rating of 81.9. The people that drafted Foles in 2012 are no longer with the team, too. Roseman and his scouts preferred Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins to Foles, but then head coach Andy Reid insisted on Foles.

Fantasy Tip: Many believe that Chip Kelly's system can make almost any quarterback successful, including Mark Sanchez, who will take over with Foles injured. Sanchez ($4,400) could be a fine sleeper play against the Carolina Panthers on Monday night.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (clavicle) will not need to undergo surgery on his fractured clavicle, according to a source. The team hopes Foles will be able to return in around six weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Mark Sanchez will be the starting quarterback while Foles is out. Sanchez should be considered a matchup play most weeks if owners are looking for a quarterback. Sanchez could be a solid starting option against the Carolina Panthers.

Mon, 03 Nov 2014 10:12:39 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (clavicle) underwent an MRI Monday, Nov. 3, and has been diagnosed with a cracked clavicle, according to head coach Chip Kelly.

Fantasy Tip: Foles likely will miss a few weeks because of the injury, so Mark Sanchez should be the starting quarterback during that span. Sanchez could be a cheap starting option on FantasyScore this week against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Foles is likely to miss multiple games, so Mark Sanchez is expected to take over under center. FantasyScore owners will be especially interested in Sanchez in Week 10 in a Monday night matchup against the Carolina Panthers and their leaky pass defense.

Eagles | Nick Foles needs to improve

Fri, 31 Oct 2014 10:10:20 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles knows that he needs to improve and limit his turnovers on game days. "A few plays, fundamentally I just missed it," Foles said. "I think I just have to continue to work through practice and in the game, just trust it. Trust my footwork, trust the pocket. Just because I made a few mistakes, I'm not going to not throw it when I don't have my feet under me. It's decision-making where I really have to get better."

Fantasy Tip: Foles, in his second season, is having his ups and downs after a surprising rookie season in 2014. It's a reminder that his owners should temper their expectations for him as a low-end QB1 based on the matchups. In Week 9 against the Houston Texans, he costs $7,700 (15.4% of cap) at FantasyScore.

Eagles | Nick Foles loses in Arizona return

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 17:51:19 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles completed 36 of his 62 pass attempts for 411 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 8 game against the Arizona Cardinals. His 62 pass attempts tied the franchise record set by former QB Randall Cunningham in 1989. Foles is also the first Eagles QB with nine interceptions through seven games since Cunningham, also in 1989.

Fantasy Tip: Foles had a big performance against a leaky Cardinals pass defense in his return to the state he played his college ball (University of Arizona). He remains a solid fantasy option when the matchup is right, although he has certainly taken a step back from last season's breakout performance.

Eagles | Nick Foles leads in turnovers

Mon, 13 Oct 2014 09:18:53 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles leads the league with 10 turnovers this year (seven interceptions and three fumbles). Last season, he had 29 touchdown passes, including the playoffs, and just two interceptions.

Fantasy Tip: Foles' excellent 2013 season was mainly a byproduct of Chip Kelly's new fast-tempo offense. He's still a serviceable quarterback with plenty of weapons, but we're seeing that he's still young and learning. Foles is a matchup play but is better as a QB2.

Eagles | Expectations too high for Nick Foles?

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 10:07:40 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles entered last season as the full-time starter and jumped into a situation with head coach Chip Kelly's offense catching other teams off guard because of its ingenuity. Also, the offensive line was mostly veteran and 100 percent healthy. Foles didn't have to do much to be successful. Coming into the season, expectations were that he'd be the franchise quarterback. However, Foles has struggled due to lack of experience and a changing scene around him. "He's playing on a team where we're less than perfect in a lot of ways," offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur acknowledged. Foles has made some terrible throws this year, and he isn't always setting his feet or sliding in the pocket. "I'm progressing. I'm continuing to learn. I might not go out there and have the stats that are perfect, but I'm going to keep on working to be the quarterback I know these (coaches) want me to be," Foles said.

Fantasy Tip: Foles' FantasyScore salary this week is $8,100 (16.2% of cap) against the New York Giants. He's a risk as your starter, and he's preferably a QB2 in standard leagues.
