Wed, 19 Feb 2014 10:18:45 -0800

Tue, 18 Feb 2014 19:42:36 -0800
If the Washington Redskins part with one of their three quarterbacks during the offseason, head coach Jay Gruden might jettison QB Rex Grossman, who is no longer needed to mentor QBs Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins.
Tue, 18 Feb 2014 19:42:03 -0800
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins isn't expected to be traded unless some team grossly overpays for him. It is believed Cousins hurt his stock and value by struggling in three starts in December, and will not come close to fetching a high-round draft pick.
Thu, 13 Feb 2014 16:29:39 -0800
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins (eyes) underwent Lasik surgery Tuesday, Feb. 11, in order to improve his vision. Cousins has been playing with contacts but said the surgery will improve to 20-15 vision, which will help his play. "The more you can see out of the corner of your eye - blitzes, pass protection, open receivers - all of it is effective. When you have strong peripheral vision you can take in a lot of information at once," Cousins said.
Wed, 12 Feb 2014 11:24:35 -0800
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins said he is open to being traded because he would like to lead an organization as a starting quarterback. Cousins said he likes his current situation and is willing to wait for a starting opportunity in the future.
Wed, 05 Feb 2014 06:22:05 -0800

Mon, 03 Feb 2014 10:09:30 -0800
With the Cleveland Browns hiring former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, there is speculation that the Browns could make a play to trade for Redskins backup QB Kirk Cousins, after he expressed a desire to be traded in order to be a starter with a team. Sun, 02 Feb 2014 17:23:23 -0800
Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins has not asked for a trade at this time. Cousins is not unhappy with his current situation, but would welcome the chance to be a starting quarterback elsewhere.
Sun, 02 Feb 2014 07:50:10 -0800
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins is open to being traded in hopes of becoming a starting quarterback. Cousins has already talked to the team about possibly being moved. One team that could show interest in Cousins is the Cleveland Browns.
Sun, 29 Dec 2013 18:31:44 -0800
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins completed only 19 of his 49 pass attempts for 169 yards with two interceptions and a lost fumble in the Week 17 game against the New York Giants. His record dropped to 0-3 as a starter this season. Beat writer Tarik El-Bashir feels that previous talk of Cousins being traded for a second-round draft pick might have been premature.
Mon, 16 Dec 2013 17:02:18 -0800
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said Monday, Dec. 16, that the team did not alter the offense for QB Kirk Cousins, who started in Week 15 against the Atlanta Falcons. "First off, I'm not really sure what people mean. I think the obvious things are you don't run the zone read as much," Shanahan said. "You've got (QB Robert Griffin III) who has that speed and the ability to make some plays running the football and can do some things off the play-action pass, but other than that we have the same offense." WR Pierre Garcon also said he did not see any difference in the offense.
Fantasy Tip: Cousins had a strong showing, although he also made some mistakes which will need to be cleaned up. Still, he is auditioning for a starting job somewhere in 2014, and if he keeps playing well, his stock will improve, and so will the return on investment for Washington.
Sat, 14 Dec 2013 08:32:37 -0800
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said the team could get a first-round draft choice for QB Kirk Cousins this offseason if Cousins plays well in the final three games of the season.
Wed, 11 Dec 2013 12:00:45 -0800
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan continues to say that owner Daniel Snyder and general manager Bruce Allen were "100 percent" on board with his decision to shut down QB Robert Griffin III for the rest of the season. The three men decided collectively that it would be the best for the team if QB Kirk Cousins played out the season to give Griffin a chance to go into the offseason healthy. "The chance of coming back (from another injury)," Shanahan added, "would be very, very tough."
Wed, 11 Dec 2013 10:51:38 -0800
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins said QB Robert Griffin III is still the team's franchise quarterback even though he is starting Week 15.
Wed, 11 Dec 2013 10:33:28 -0800
Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III said that he's been shut down for the remainder of the season.
Fantasy Tip: You can obviously drop RG3 in all single-year formats. Kirk Cousins will see action in the final three games, and he is a sleeper one-week play against a struggling Atlanta Falcons defense in Week 15.
Wed, 11 Dec 2013 09:31:27 -0800
Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III did not receive any snaps during the media-access portion of practice Wednesday, Dec. 11. QB Kirk Cousins received the first snaps during practice and was followed by QB Rex Grossman.
Wed, 11 Dec 2013 06:14:02 -0800
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins will start over QB Robert Griffin III against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15.
Fantasy Tip: Atlanta is one of the worst teams against the pass in 2013, and Cousins has a great opportunity to shine this week. Robert Griffin III owners can cut bait at this point, except maybe in dynasty leagues. Cousins is a decent option for a one-week play. However, it's hard to suggest starting such an unknown in your fantasy playoffs with a lot of conviction.
Wed, 11 Dec 2013 05:24:32 -0800
The feeling inside the Washington Redskins' facility is that head coach Mike Shanahan will star QB Kirk Cousins in Week 15 unless QB Robert Griffin III can talk him out of it.
Tue, 10 Dec 2013 16:06:30 -0800
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan has yet to name a starting quarterback between QBs Robert Griffin III or Kirk Cousins for Week 15 against the Atlanta Falcons. Shanahan is expected to make his decision Wednesday, Dec. 11.
Fantasy Tip: The longer we wait for a decision, the more likely it seems that Cousins will get the nod. If you've been starting Griffin in your league, it's time to look for a replacement just in case.
Tue, 10 Dec 2013 11:29:08 -0800
Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder reportedly will not intervene if head coach Mike Shanahan benches QB Robert Griffin III for the final three regular season games this year. "He won't step in and interfere with that," a person familiar with the situation said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the topic. "He's not going to step into a personnel decision that way." Shanahan said he'll decide by Wednesday, Dec. 11, whether to sit Griffin in favor of QB Kirk Cousins.
Fantasy Tip: It's risky to rely on RG3 this weekend, as it looks as though the chances are increasing that he won't play again this year. Cousins has looked good the few times he's filled in for Griffin, but it wouldn't be smart to trust him with your season on the line.
Sun, 08 Dec 2013 19:22:04 -0800
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan declined to name a starting quarterback for the Week 15 game against the Atlanta Falcons. QB Robert Griffin III was pulled during the Week 14 blowout against the Kansas City Chiefs, giving way to QB Kirk Cousins. "We'll talk about that later," Shanahan said Sunday, Dec. 8. "That's with anybody in any position. We'll look at injuries, we'll look at where we are and what direction we're going."
Fantasy Tip: Griffin's frustrating season continues. The 'Skins have a nice matchup against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 15, making whoever starts at QB for Washington a sleeper choice as a midrange QB1. However, in the fantasy playoffs, it'd be tough to go that route.
Mon, 02 Dec 2013 12:30:25 -0800
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he does not plan on playing QB Kirk Cousins in the final four games of the season unless QB Robert Griffin III gets injured.

The Washington Redskins are keeping QBs Robert Griffin III, Kirk Cousins, Rex Grossman and Pat White on their active roster for now.
Mon, 26 Aug 2013 21:17:35 -0700
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins (foot) said Monday, Aug. 26, that there is "no doubt at all" that he will be ready for the regular season opener Sept. 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was able to practice Monday, but said he isn't quite 100 percent when it comes to rolling out or quick changes of direction. Cousins has been getting three or four treatments per day.
Fantasy Tip: There is still uncertainty if Robert Griffin III (knee) will be ready to go, so Cousins could conceivably be called upon to start in Week 1. He wouldn't be worth using in standard formats, but certainly is worth keeping an eye on in 2 QB leagues if Griffin isn't healthy.
Sat, 24 Aug 2013 12:34:03 -0700
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins (foot) won't play in the third preseason game Saturday, Aug. 24, due to a mid-foot sprain.
Wed, 21 Aug 2013 10:17:37 -0700

"So that's a good sign."
Mon, 19 Aug 2013 19:07:20 -0700
Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins (foot) had X-rays on his foot, which came back negative. The injury is being called a mid-foot sprain.

Mon, 24 Jun 2013 07:50:00 -0700
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins said he'll be ready to play, but QB Robert Griffin III (knee) will be ready to play in Week 1. "Robert looked awesome, and I'm not just saying that," Cousins said. "He is a bit of a freak in terms of his athleticism, he has healed very quickly."
Fri, 21 Jun 2013 11:44:08 -0700
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins said he is still preparing as if he will be the starting quarterback Week 1 even though QB Robert Griffin III (knee) appears on track to be ready for the start of the season.
Tue, 07 May 2013 05:51:50 -0700
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins said he knows he has to prepare as if he will be the team's Week 1 starter at quarterback in case QB Robert Griffin III (knee) is not ready. "You feel that added excitement or added urgency to be ready to go," Cousins said. "We don't know what it's going to look like. He may be ready by mid-August. He may be ready mid-September, mid-October. I don't know. That's not my job. My job is to get myself ready and when called upon, deliver. And I'm going to do all I can between now and then to do that."
Sun, 21 Apr 2013 11:02:08 -0700
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins said he will be ready to start Week 1 if QB Robert Griffin III (knee) is not ready to come back from his knee injury. "What I do know is I need to be ready and I will be," Cousins said. "And I will benefit greatly from the reps I get throughout (off-season workouts) as well as training camp and preseason games this coming August. I do believe he's gonna heal very quickly. I don't want to put any pressure on him to heal as fast as an [Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson], did but it wouldn't surprise me."
Fri, 05 Apr 2013 12:11:50 -0700
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins said he believes he can run the read-option offense but would have to be crisper in his ball handling and decision making because he is not as fast as QBs Robert Griffin III (knee) or QB Pat White. Cousins said he would be willing to work on the read-option plays during offseason workouts and training camp if the coaches want him to work on them.
Tue, 19 Mar 2013 12:56:35 -0700
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he is not sure if QB Robert Griffin III (knee) will be ready for Week 1. He said Griffin will not return to the lineup until he is completely healthy. Shanahan indicated QB Kirk Cousins will receive all of the reps during offseason workouts but that Griffin will be watching film and workouts to get in mental reps.
Fantasy Tip: Griffin's recovery will be one of the biggest stories during the offseason and training camp. Griffin is definitely a starting quarterback in all fantasy formats, but owners that want Griffin will have to take a high-end No. 2 quarterback that they can use in case Griffin misses at least one regular season game. Cousins could be a short-term starter in deep leagues if Griffin misses some time but it will depend on the matchup.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (knee) is officially out for the remainder of the NFC Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday, Jan. 6. QB Kirk Cousins will try to rally the team from a 24-14 deficit with 5:26 remaining.

Wed, 19 Dec 2012 07:58:40 -0800
Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson said there is little difference between QBs Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins as far as guiding the offense. "I honestly don't think it was that much different at all because both of those guys are high energy guys, they both come in the huddle with a whole lot of confidence, they talk to us a lot and I think they pretty much come in the same way," Hankerson said. "Even though Kirk hasn't been a starter for the past 13 games, he always in practice, he always comes in with high intensity and he talks to us all the same like he has been the starter. Kirk, he's a guy that prepares hard each and every week like he is the starter and it obviously showed on Sunday."
