St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams is not in the starting lineup Saturday, May 2.
Fantasy Tip: Adams ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) probably is sitting since the team is facing a left-handed starter. Mark Reynolds ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will be starting in his place, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options.

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams is out of the lineup Thursday, April 16, against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Fantasy Tip: Mark Reynolds ($2,000, 4.0% of your cap) draws the start. He's a boom-or-bust option on FantasyScore because of his power. However, he has just one hit and three K's in five at-bats thus far. Avoid him for now.

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams is not in the starting lineup against the Cincinnati Reds Sunday, April 12. 1B Mark Reynolds is starting at first and batting fifth Sunday.
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Adams in all fantasy formats Sunday. For the season, he has gone just 2-for-13 with a single RBI. Reynolds ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has upside for daily contests with opposing pitcher Raisel Iglesias making his major league debut Sunday. Consider Reynolds a nice source of cap relief.

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams remaining an everyday player will be dependent upon him hitting left-handed pitching better. Last season, Adams hit .190/.231/.298 against southpaws. The Cardinals signed 1B Mark Reynolds in December as protection in case they need another option.
Fantasy Tip: The addition of Reynolds leaves Adams a short leash to prove he can perform better against lefties. That said, the fact he's being given an opportunity to prove himself should be viewed as a positive. Gamers are best served drafting Adams as a corner infielder or utility player.

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams faced exaggerated defensive shifts last year and went the opposite way to left field with some regularity to beat it. However, manager Mike Matheny would like to see Adams attempt more bunts to beat the defensive shifts in 2015. "I don't want him to show it more. I want him to execute it more," said Matheny. "He showed it. It just wasn't very effective. He's going to have to lay it down and lay it down fair."
Fantasy Tip: Struggles versus left-handers aside, Adams should be a fine profit play once again in a very strong St. Louis lineup. If his work against the shift continues and he improves against southpaws, a breakout could be coming.

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams could platoon with 1B Mark Reynolds in 2015. Adams had a .231 on-base percentage and a .298 slugging percentage in 130 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers last season. Adams did hit two huge home runs off Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw and San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner in the playoffs. Adams seemed to gain weight during the season last year, and the team could privately emphasize his conditioning more.
