Cardinals | Yadier Molina starting at 1B

Wed, 04 May 2016 14:43:10 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina will start at first base against Philadelphia Phillies SP Adam Morgan Wednesday, May 4, and 1B Matt Adams and 1B Brandon Moss will start on the bench against a left-handed pitcher. C Eric Fryer will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Molina is hitting .333 with 10 RBI this season and should be a starting candidate in all leagues. Fryer is hitting .667 in his limited playing time and could be sleeper option for daily fantasy owners.

Cardinals | Matt Adams at first base Tuesday

Tue, 03 May 2016 15:25:59 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams is starting at first base and hitting cleanup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Nola Tuesday, May 3. 1B Brandon Moss will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Adams has been seeing pretty regular at-bats at first base of late, hitting .400 (6-for-15) with two long balls and four RBI. Mike Matheny may just be riding the hot hand, but whatever the case, Adams is a fine pick in daily formats tonight while hitting cleanup. If Adams is available in your mixed league and you're hunting for power, give him a look.

Cardinals | Matt Adams starting vs. Phillies

Mon, 02 May 2016 12:31:38 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams is batting sixth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson Monday, May 2. OF Randal Grichuk is not in the starting lineup Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Adams has been better of late with an active 8-for-26 stretch leading into Monday, including two runs, three RBI and a .879 OPS over 29 plate appearances. He checks out as an upside option in daily contests Monday. Grichuk is off to an incredibly slow start with a .179/.261/.359 slash line, however, he has made the most of that horrible line with 15 runs, three home runs, 12 RBI and two stolen bases. Still, Grichuk's fantasy value and playing time are dwindling.

Cardinals | Stephen Piscotty not starting

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 08:52:26 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Stephen Piscotty is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross Saturday, April 30. 1B Brandon Moss will start in right field, while 1B Matt Adams will start at first base and is batting fourth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Moss has five hits and three RBI over his last four games and could be a sleeper option for owners in daily fantasy leagues. Adams is coming off a 2-for-3 performance with one home run and three RBI in his last game and could be used in daily leagues.

Cardinals | Matt Adams starting vs. Nationals

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 13:25:33 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams is starting at first base and batting fourth against Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg Friday, April 29. 1B/OF Brandon Moss is not in the starting lineup Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Adams sports an underwhelming .211/.268/.342 slash line to start the season and draws a tough matchup to turn it around with Strasburg taking the hill. View Adams as a fringe own outside of cavernous mixed and NL-only formats, and he is a risky start in daily contests Friday. Moss figures to begin seeing more at-bats with Adams struggling, and Moss has started 2016 with a .544 slugging percentage and five home runs through 68 plate appearances.

Cardinals | Matt Adams, Kolten Wong sitting

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 15:26:21 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams and 2B Kolten Wong are not in the starting lineup Monday, April 25. 1B Brandon Moss is at first base and is hitting cleanup, while 2B Jedd Gyorko is at the keystone and is batting seventh against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke.

Fantasy Tip: Moss could be a sneaky target in daily games as a sleeper against Greinke. Moss has a home run in seven at-bats against Greinke in his career. Gyorko had a big game against his old team Sunday and could be stealing more playing time away from the struggling Wong, mainly against left-handers. Despite a strong game yesterday, Gyorko is a risky daily pick against Greinke, who he has just five hits off of in 17 plate appearances.

Cardinals | St. Louis resting several starters

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 13:10:01 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday, 1B Matt Adams and 2B Kolten Wong are not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Colin Rea Sunday, April 24. OF Brandon Moss will start at first base and is batting third in the lineup. OF Jeremy Hazelbaker will start in left field and is batting sixth, while 2B Jedd Gyorko will start at second base and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Moss and Hazelbaker have struggled at the plate recently but could still be decent options in daily fantasy leagues because of his success earlier in the month. Gyorko is hitting .333 with two home runs and four RBI over the last seven days and could also be an attractive starting option.

Cardinals | Matt Adams, Ruben Tejada in lineup

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 15:58:44 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams and SS Ruben Tejada are in the starting lineup facing San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner Friday, April 22. Adams is hitting cleanup and Tejada is hitting eighth. OF Jeremy Hazelbaker and SS Aledmys Diaz are the odd-men out.

Fantasy Tip: After hot starts, Hazelbaker and Diaz could see spotty playing time moving forward unless an injury opens up more time. Tejada is more of a defensive option and should only be owned in deep NL-only leagues. Adams has five hits (one homer and two doubles) in his last six games and figures to platoon at first with Matt Holliday and Brandon Moss. Against Cashner this evening, Adams is certainly worth investing in in daily leagues.

Cardinals | Matt Adams feeling normal

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 16:07:40 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams went 2-for-4 against the Chicago Cubs Tuesday, April 19, and he said his swing is feeling normal again. Adams has started only once in the previous seven games while involved in a time share at first base with 1B Brandon Moss and OF Matt Holliday.

Fantasy Tip: Adams has big-time power, but his fantasy upside is limited while sharing time with Moss and Holliday at first base. He's likely limited to NL-only and daily formats for now when he's in the lineup facing a nice right-handed matchup.

Cardinals | Matt Adams draws another start

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 08:12:36 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams is hitting cleanup Wednesday, April 20, for the second straight day. OF/1B Brandon Moss and OF Jeremy Hazelbaker are out of the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: "Big City" has four hits in his last 10 at-bats, including a homer, and he's a decent start against Kyle Hendricks at the right price.
