Cardinals | Matt Adams to undergo surgery

Wed, 27 May 2015 21:07:25 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams (quadriceps) is scheduled to undergo surgery Friday, May 29, to repair his torn quadriceps.

Fantasy Tip: Adams ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) could miss the rest of the season because of his injury. Mark Reynolds ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) likely will see most of the playing time and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore to consider.

Cardinals | Matt Adams could miss season

Wed, 27 May 2015 18:55:15 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams (quadriceps) will miss three-to-four months with a grade two strain, according to an official team statement Wednesday, May 27. Team officials have said Adams could miss the rest of the season. 1B Mark Reynolds is listed as the next option at first base on the Cardinals' depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has been used mostly as a platoon option against right-handed pitchers this season. The Cardinals' are likely to look outside of the organization for Adams' replacement, with Ryan Howard's name among those rumored to be of interest.

Cardinals | Matt Adams facing lengthy absence

Wed, 27 May 2015 14:02:03 -0700

Updating a previous report, St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams (quadriceps) has a severe tear in his quadriceps which could require surgery, and he could miss significant time with the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to check back for updates on the severity of Adams' ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) injury and a recovery and return timeline. In the meantime, and for the duration of Adam's absence, Mark Reynolds ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) projects to receive everyday at-bats. Over the past six seasons, Reynolds has averaged 23 home runs with a .213/.316/.429 slash line and 402 at-bats per season. He has power potential, but it will come with a bad batting average. He is a matchup FantasyScore play.

Cardinals | Matt Adams put on DL

Wed, 27 May 2015 11:58:03 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams (quadriceps) was put on the 15-day disabled list, as expected, Wednesday, May 27. C Edward Easley was recalled from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: With Adams out for at least two weeks, Mark Reynolds ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is likely to become the starting first baseman. While Reynolds has plenty of power (three home runs, 12 RBI), he's also hitting just .250 (24-for-96). Reynolds is strictly a matchup play at FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Matt Adams suffers injury

Tue, 26 May 2015 19:38:45 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams (quadriceps) left the game early Tuesday, May 26, and has been diagnosed with a strained right quadriceps.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to look for a possible timetable for Adams ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) over the next day or two. Mark Reynolds ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) likely would start at first base if Adams misses some time and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore to consider.

Cardinals | Matt Adams bumped to sixth

Sat, 23 May 2015 14:03:17 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams will hit out of the sixth spot in the batting order Saturday, May 23, against the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Adams ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has gone 0-for-8 in his last two games. Adams can make for a nice option when facing a right-handed pitcher, but due to his cold streak he should be left for GPP tournaments.

Cardinals | Matt Adams drives in three

Wed, 20 May 2015 20:06:01 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI against the New York Mets Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Adams ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been struggling this month but did produce at this play Wednesday. He has at least one hit in only four of his last 12 games. Adams may not be the best option on FantasyScore at this point but could be an option if he produces at the plate on a more consistent basis.

Cardinals | Matt Adams back in cleanup spot

Wed, 20 May 2015 13:48:54 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams is back in the cleanup spot against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon Wednesday, May 20.

Fantasy Tip: Adams ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has slumped big time in may, hitting .160 (8-for-50) with 11 strikeouts and just one RBI. However, all three of his homers have come against righties in 2015. Consider Adams an under-the-radar FantasyScore option tonight as a way to gain an advantage on your competition.

Cardinals | Matt Adams sitting out Tuesday

Tue, 19 May 2015 12:46:40 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 19, against the New York Mets.

Fantasy Tip: Adams ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is off to a .246 start this spring and is 3-for-15 in his last five games. Mark Reynolds ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) gets the start and bats sixth. Reynolds has a .304 average (7-for-23) in the past week but has only two runs batted in, so don't go out of your way to put him in either.

Cardinals | Matt Adams starting Sunday

Sun, 17 May 2015 16:35:23 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams is starting and hitting fifth in the lineup against the Detroit Tigers Sunday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: The sample size is small, but Adams ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is hitting .429 in seven at-bats against Detroit starter Alfredo Simon with a home run and two doubles. He could add some serious pop to your FantasyScore lineup for a friendly price.
