Tue, 07 May 2013 12:15:36 -0700 The St. Louis Cardinals activated 1B Matt Adams (oblique) from the disabled list Tuesday, May 7. Fantasy Tip: Adams won't play every day, but he's a nice power bat for cavernous mixed players looking for corner infield depth. He's probably widely available, too, after his disabled list stint.
Thu, 02 May 2013 06:50:57 -0700 St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams (oblique) will go on a rehab assignment at Double-A Springfield Thursday, May 2, and is expected to come off the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, May 7.
Fri, 26 Apr 2013 12:24:50 -0700 The St. Louis Cardinals placed 1B Matt Adams (oblique) on the 15-day disable list with an oblique strain Friday, April 26, and recalled INF Jermaine Curtis from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. Fantasy Tip: Oblique injuries can be very tricky and can sap players of most of their power if they return at less than 100 percent health. Adams was a valuable weapon off the bench but wasn't seeing consistent playing time with Allen Craig set at first base. Adams can probably be dropped in deep mixed leagues.
Wed, 24 Apr 2013 11:35:13 -0700 St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said 1B Matt Adams (oblique) is not expected to land on the disabled list.
Tue, 23 Apr 2013 14:58:02 -0700 St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams (oblique) remains out with tightness in his right oblique Tuesday, April 23, but he is improving. Adams took grounders and throws during batting practice, but he hasn't resumed swinging a bat. The team is optimistic that he won't land on the disabled list, though.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 14:34:13 -0700 St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams (oblique) was scratched from the lineup with tightness in his right oblique Monday, April 22.
Sun, 14 Apr 2013 21:25:21 -0700 St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams had a solo home run and single in four at-bats Sunday, April 14, against the Milwaukee Brewers. Adams has a hit in all five games he has played, going 11-for-18 (.611) with three homers and eight RBI. Fantasy Tip: Adams has homered in three straight games, and has emerged as a must-start in all NL-only fantasy leagues. He is also worth a roll of the dice in mixed formats for his power potential.
Wed, 10 Apr 2013 15:25:08 -0700 St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams had four hits and homered for the second straight day Wednesday, April 10. Fantasy Tip: Although playing time will be hard to come by for Adams in St. Louis, he remains an intriguing upside commodity in deep mixed leagues because of the way he can swing the stick. Speculate on his power.
Wed, 10 Apr 2013 08:21:31 -0700 St. Louis Cardinals 1B/OF Allen Craig is out of the lineup Wednesday, April 10, in favor of 1B Matt Adams.
Wed, 06 Mar 2013 23:37:31 -0800 St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams, who has a .471 batting average with two home runs and seven runs batted in this spring, may have a spot on the roster when the club breaks camp. "He has nothing left to prove (in Memphis)," manager Mike Matheny said. "The guy can hit. It's just a matter whether he fits in right. It's not a question anymore of can he perform in (the big leagues). He can hit here or anywhere. He doesn't need to show us more."
