St. Louis Cardinals CL Trevor Rosenthal threw 41 pitches in a four-out save Wednesday, June 25. The announcers stated on the telecast that it was the most pitches he has ever thrown in a save opportunity.
Fantasy Tip: He's highly unlikely to be available if a save opportunity arises. Pat Neshek only threw nine pitches yesterday and should be the one called upon in a save chance.

St. Louis Cardinals CL Trevor Rosenthal blew his third save Wednesday, June 4.
Fantasy Tip: In his defense, he entered with two runners on in a 2-0 game. He didn't get a borderline call on a 3-2 count to load the bases, gave up a broken-bat groundout that scored a run and a clean single to score the second run. He has been inconsistent all year, but teams are catching up to his heater. Keep an eye on this situation with Jason Motte back. Pat Neshek is a possibility, as well.

St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said RP Trevor Rosenthal will be unavailable to pitch Tuesday, May 20.
Fantasy Tip: Rosenthal had a string of four straight outings over the weekend that culminated with a blown save Sunday. He's due for some rest. Jason Motte, who was just brought back from the DL, could get the nod in the ninth in his first game back.

St. Louis Cardinals RP Trevor Rosenthal blew his second save of the year against the Atlanta Braves Sunday, May 18, and he's 0-2 with a 4.98 ERA so far, with 14 walks in 21 2/3 innings. Rosenthal's velocity is also a bit down, as he's averaging 96.2 mph on his fastball and hasn't reached triple digits on the radar gun. He was working for the fourth straight day Sunday night. "Physically I felt good and mentally I was ready to go," Rosenthal said. "No one feels worse than me, walking in the run that eventually loses the game. But you have to bounce back. There will be another opportunity. You just have to learn from it."
Fantasy Tip: Rosenthal's slight dip in velocity is a bit concerning. He should still be seen as one of the elite closers in baseball, though, but perhaps the league is starting to adjust to his high fastball usage and sit on those pitches.

St. Louis Cardinals CL Trevor Rosenthal blew his first save of the season Tuesday, May 13.
Fantasy Tip: Rosenthal has been a shell of himself this season with a 5.19 ERA, 15 hits and 11 walks allowed in 17 1/3 innings. He still has 21 strikeouts, but he's going to have to figure himself out soon. RP Jason Motte (elbow) is on the mend and could become a closer candidate soon.

St. Louis Cardinals RP Trevor Rosenthal is unlikely to be available to pitch Tuesday, May 6, after throwing 39 pitches in back-to-back days. RP Carlos Martinez also may not be available after working three days in a row. RP Kevin Siegrist could appear in the eighth or ninth innings as a result.

St. Louis Cardinals CL Trevor Rosenthal allowed two runs in a non-save situation Monday, April 7. It was the first runs he has allowed at home since Aug. 15.
Fantasy Tip: Rosenthal didn't pitch all weekend, and clearly his command was off. His ERA shot up to 5.40 on the season.

St. Louis Cardinals RP Trevor Rosenthal (groin) threw a 15-pitch live batting practice session Wednesday, March 5, and he plans to make his spring debut by the end of the weekend. He hasn't had any setbacks with his groin strain. "Everything felt normal," he said. "I feel strong. I'm excited. My schedule is normal now." Rosenthal wants to make "at least six or seven" appearances this spring.
Fantasy Tip: Rosenthal, as a reliever, has more than enough time to be ready for opening day. He's just beneath the group of top-tier closers for fantasy baseball. Although he's young an inexperienced in the role, he has the stuff to be dominant in the ninth inning.

St. Louis Cardinals RP Trevor Rosenthal (groin) will throw live batting practice Wednesday, March 5. This is believed to be his final test before returning to game action.
Fantasy Tip: He still has plenty of time to get ready for the start of the season. He could be a bit overvalued because of his electric stuff and great rookie season. He's still unproven as a closer, but his strikeout potential puts him in the upper echelon of relievers.
