Arkansas RB Knile Davis posted a time of 4.37 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine Sunday, Feb. 24. Utah State RB Kerwynn Williams had a time of 4.48 seconds, UCLA RB Johnathan Franklin posted 4.49 seconds, Louisiana State RB Michael Ford checked in at 4.50 seconds and Boise State RB DJ Harper and Oregon RB Kenjon Barner posted times of 4.52 seconds. Miami RB Mike James and North Carolina RB Giovani Bernard posted 4.53 seconds, while Texas A&M RB Christine Michael rounded out the Top 10 among running backs with a time of 4.54 seconds.

Nebraska RB Rex Burkhead and Texas A&M RB Christine Michael posted a total of 10-foot-5 in the broad jump at the NFL Scouting Combine Sunday, Feb. 24. Notre Dame RB Cierre Wood managed a total of 10-foot-4, Oklahoma State RB Joseph Randle had a total of 10-foot-3, while North Carolina RB Giovani Bernard, Oregon RB Kenjon Barner, Vanderbilt RB Zac Stacy and Clemson RB Andre Ellington managed a total of 10-foot-2. Arkansas RB Knile Davis and Auburn RB Onterio McCalebb had a total of 10-foot-1, while Boise State RB DJ Harper checked in at 10-foot-0.

University of Miami RB Mike James had 28 reps of 225 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine Sunday, Feb. 24. Texas A&M RB Christine Michael and Vanderbilt RB Zac Stacy followed with 27 reps. Louisiana State RB Michael Ford checked in with 25 reps, while Michigan State RB Le'Veon Bell had 24 reps. Boise State RB DJ Harper had 23 reps, while Cincinnati RB George Winn had 22 reps. Nebraska RB Rex Burkhead and Florida State RB Chris Thompson checked in with 21 reps, while Stony Brook RB Miguel Maysonet, Oregon RB Kenjon Barner and Rutgers RB Jawan Jamison posted 20 reps apiece.

The Philadelphia Eagles could consider taking a running back in the middle or later rounds of the 2013 NFL Draft. Oregon RB Kenjon Barner and South Carolina RB Marcus Lattimore could be options if the team decides to take a running back.

Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said the team is searching for a running back in this year's draft. "We need that shifty back that can come in and be that change-of-pace guy who can catch passes out of the backfield, a guy that can run routes and get one-on-one with a linebacker," Mayhew said. "That's what Jahvid gave us, a guy with some juice, some elusiveness." Oregon RB Kenjon Barner, Stanford RB Stepfan Taylor and Florida RB Mike Gillislee were the most impressive at the Senior Bowl this week, and Taylor is the most complete back of the three.
