Wed, 11 Jul 2012 10:55:34 -0700 New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said P Jose Campos (elbow) has not been throwing yet because of a sore elbow but expects Campos to pitch again this season.
Thu, 19 Jan 2012 13:57:26 -0800 Seattle Mariners C Jesus Montero, who was acquired from the New York Yankees last week in exchange for Ps Michael Pineda and Jose Campos, is having trouble leaving Venezuela in order to undergo a physical exam. The trade that also involved SP Hector Noesi is being held up because of this issue. Montero is waiting for a passport and Visa to be issued.
Fri, 13 Jan 2012 17:28:05 -0800 The New York Yankees traded for SP Michael Pineda and P Jose Campos Friday, Jan. 13. They sent C Jesus Montero and P Hector Noesi to the Seattle Mariners for the two pitchers, according to a source. Fantasy Tip: Pineda joins a rotation which includes CC Sabathia, the newly-signed Hiroki Kuroda, A.J. Burnett, Freddy Garcia, Ivan Nova and Phil Hughes. Pineda will likely slot second or third in the rotation, with Garcia, Hughes and Burnett fighting for the final spot in manager Joe Girardi's rotation. Pineda had a fine 3.74 ERA in 2011, but he didn't get many wins with the lowly Mariners. With plenty of run support, he has 15-17 win potential in the Bronx.
Fri, 13 Jan 2012 17:27:29 -0800 The Seattle Mariners acquired C Jesus Montero, the top prospect in the New York Yankees system, along with P Hector Noesi Friday, Jan. 13, in exchange for SP Michael Pineda and P Jose Campos, according to a source. Fantasy Tip: Montero let his bat do the talking in a stint in the majors last season, posting a .328 average with four homers and 28 RBIs in 17 games. There are questions about his ability to catch in the majors, but his offense is very much majors-ready. The 22-year-old will see plenty of playing time alongside Miguel Olivo and at designated hitter, much like the Yanks planned on using him.
Fri, 13 Jan 2012 17:08:12 -0800 The Seattle Mariners are close to a trade which would send SP Michael Pineda and P Jose Campos to the New York Yankees for C Jesus Montero and P Hector Noesi, according to a source.
