Tue, 18 Jun 2013 09:18:18 -0700 Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman is confident that he can carry the load as the team's featured back this season, despite his size. "You get that when you're a smaller guy," Hillman said. "You can't take the pounding, but I just brush it off. Of course you hear things. I'm not going to sit here and say I don't hear what they say, but you just got to let it go." Hillman put on 15 pounds of muscle in the offseason, but the team has told him they'd like him to play around 190 to 195 pounds. Fantasy Tip: Hillman will compete with rookie Montee Ball for the majority of touches behind Peyton Manning in training camp. Hillman could enter Week 1 as the starter, but Ball will likely become the main back in Denver eventually. Draft Ball in the middle rounds of your draft as an RB3 with potential for more. Hillman isn't a bad late-round pick for running back depth.
Mon, 17 Jun 2013 17:49:33 -0700 Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman praised RB Montee Ball. "He's a good kid, I can't say kid. He's older than me," Hillman said with a laugh. "He's a good dude, he's learning, he's doing good things out on the field. He's going to be good."
Mon, 17 Jun 2013 17:48:12 -0700 Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman added about 15 pounds of muscle in the offseason and got his frame up to 200 pounds. The team would like him to play between 190-to-195 pounds.
Sat, 15 Jun 2013 21:54:52 -0700 The Denver Broncos could start RB Ronnie Hillman for Week 1, but he is expected to eventually give way to rookie RB Montee Ball, perhaps by the end of September. Veteran RB Knowshon Moreno likely will be used often, as he is the best pass-protecting running back on the team. Fantasy Tip: Watch how this situation plays out in training camp and note preseason reps among the backs. Ball still figures to have the most fantasy value, but Moreno may creep up draft boards as we near the regular season.
Tue, 11 Jun 2013 11:39:48 -0700 Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) was running routes during practice Tuesday, June 11. Moreno was previously only taking part in pass protection drills last week after having knee surgery early in the offseason. Fantasy Tip: It has to be taken as a good sign that Moreno continues to progress in the offseason program. Keep an eye on his progress as training camp gets closer and see how the depth chart is shaking out. The Broncos running back position will be tough to count on from a fantasy perspective with Willis McGahee, Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball all competing for carries.
Tue, 04 Jun 2013 09:18:09 -0700 Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) was back at organized team activities Monday, June 3, and he took part in some pass-protection drills. Moreno underwent an operation in the offseason in which stem cells were taken from the bone marrow in his pelvis and injected into his right knee. "It was nothing really too serious," said Moreno, who tore his right ACL in 2011. "This time it was just a cleanup pretty much. And it feels pretty good." Fantasy Tip: Moreno will be competing for a roster spot with Willis McGahee this offseason. Both runners are coming off pretty serious injuries, so the healthier back may eventually win out. Even if Moreno stays with Denver, he's going to lose valuable touches to Ronnie Hillman and rookie Montee Ball. It'll be a risky choice to draft Moreno this year.
Tue, 04 Jun 2013 09:07:55 -0700 Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball said his rookie "jitters are gone" during organized team activities without RB Willis McGahee (knee) participating in the offseason workouts. RB Ronnie Hillman has been practicing with the starters while Ball is getting one-on-one tutoring from QB Peyton Manning after practices. "We're going to count on him in a big way this year," Manning said. "He's a rookie but Coach (John) Fox is not going to bring him along slowly." Fantasy Tip: With McGahee, Knowshon Moreno and Hillman in front of Ball, predicting how much of an impact he'll make this year is tough. The Broncos plan to make him a part of their offense, though, and if injuries occur, he could be in line for a sizeable workload. Consider drafting him with a mid-round pick for running back depth.
Tue, 04 Jun 2013 07:41:09 -0700 Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman said he dropped to 180 pounds last season and is back up to 195 pounds.
Fri, 31 May 2013 11:12:37 -0700 Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) hasn't been cleared to take part in organized team activities after suffering a knee injury in the team's playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Fantasy Tip: Moreno and Willis McGahee are essentially fighting for one roster spot this summer, and the winner might be determined on who is healthier this offseason. If Moreno wins the No. 1 job, he could be considered a No. 3 back. However, Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball will eat into his time.
Fri, 24 May 2013 09:28:12 -0700 Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman said that last season he dropped to around 180 pounds, while team officials say it was closer to 175. He had weighed 200 pounds at last February's Scouting Combine, but early-season injuries probably played a role in his slow start to last season. Fantasy Tip: It's a crowded backfield, though, that also carries rookie Montee Ball (widely considered the favorite to start), Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno, so we'll have to see how the summer shakes out before confidently saying Hillman has sleeper draft value.
