Wilson said he believes the formation is effective because the team likes to throw out of the formation. "Yeah, it's tough to stop," Wilson said. "I think the thing with us, and why it works so efficient for us, is we love throwing the ball out of the formation. We do a lot of things, a lot of play action, a lot of different looks."

Theoretically, the Seahawks could simply cut Wilson and sign him to a new contract, if he clears waivers; however, he would not clear waivers.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly may have changed his mind about coaching at the pro level after watching Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson and San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick perform in the divisional round playoffs last weekend, according to former NFL head coach Tony Dungy. "Could it be that Chip Kelly watched the playoffs and watched Russell Wilson run a little bit of his read option in the spread offense, and watched Colin Kaepernick run a little bit more of it?" Dungy said. Dungy added he believes Kelly watched the playoffs thinking, "My offense is way farther advanced than that, and maybe if this is going through the NFL, it might not be so tough."

Seahawks | Russell Wilson top rookie QB?

Mon, 03 Dec 2012 04:28:22 -0800

Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman believes QB Russell Wilson is actually the best rookie quarterback of this season's class; he just isn't as hyped by the media like Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck and Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III are. "They're going to hype who they're going to hype, and you're in the Seattle market, and it doesn't matter what you do," Sherman said. "He's beat the Bears, the Packers, the Patriots. You show me another quarterback with his resume, and I'll show you a great quarterback. But he doesn't get the credit because they don't want to give him the credit. They don't want to make him a big name. They make the guys a big name who they want to make a big name. He's a great quarterback, and he's probably a little better than those guys."

"He's a rookie so he's not (as) experienced as somebody like Tom Brady or something," DE Muhammad Wilkerson said. "So we've got to just get after him ... (We need to) give him different looks. Get hits on him and try and put pressure on him and get him uncomfortable. They're 4-0 at home so of course he's going to feel like he can do it all at home. You just gotta make him feel uncomfortable."

Seahawks | Russell Wilson says height not a factor

Tue, 16 Oct 2012 14:09:12 -0700

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson said that his height (5-foot-9) has not been an issue. "My height's not a factor at all," Wilson said. "My height does not define my skill set. I try to have a high, quick release, throw the ball on time. Sometimes I may have to find a lane just like any quarterback who might be 6-2. Some of these guys are 6-7 on the other side of the ball, so sometimes you've just got to make a play and find ways to be on time with the football. You know where your guys are and where they're going – you just have to deliver the ball accurately and on time."

Seahawks | Do not see Russell Wilson as running QB

Thu, 13 Sep 2012 12:28:03 -0700

Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said the team does not see QB Russell Wilson as a running quarterback but is fine if Wilson moves around to get a pass off. "We're not saying he's a running quarterback,"Bevell said. "That's really not what we're trying to do. Obviously it's a long season, and he's going to take his hits and stuff. But we're not really trying to design the thing for him to run. What's probably been best about him is when he's moved, he moved with merit. And then when he's moved in the passing game, he's moved to throw down the field and make explosive plays. That's what we need to continue to do."
