Offensive line and the secondary are two key areas the Indianapolis Colts could look to bolster in the offseason. The Colts surrendered 41 sacks this season. "Andrew (Luck) has to get hit less, we know that," general manager Ryan Grigson said. "Andrew took a lot of shots this year but also keep this in mind, and I say this with a lot of conviction, there was only I believe four games this year where our starting offensive line played together. How can you have a cohesive unit?"

The Indianapolis Colts head into the offseason with 58 players already signed to contracts and more than $40 million available under a salary cap that is expected to come in at about $121 million. General manager Ryan Grigson said the Colts will be able to sign high-priced free agent, but could also opt to find bargains if it will improve the team. "I don't have to rub two nickels together to find a key position. Now, if there's something that I really want that I feel is going to get us over the hump in a certain area, I could at least take a crack at him," Grigson said. "I feel almost in a sense like I don't want to go after a name just because that's easy. There's guys out there, that to me, that if you really scout this league and you really know this league, you can find guys that are under the radar that are right under people's noses, just because you dig a little harder and you have a better feel for some guys than the next team does."

Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said he wants to retain offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, even though Arians has received interest from teams regarding head coaching vacancies. "We would try to do whatever we could to keep Bruce, but again, he's his own man and will make his own decisions," Grigson said. "It's kind of a great situation we have here. It's pure speculation, but we'd love to have him back."

New Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said Thursday, Feb. 2, he has spoken with QB Peyton Manning (neck). "We had a nice discussion," Grigson said. "We spoke for 20 minutes or so. It's been amicable. It's been a normal thing. We talked like regular guys, I felt. It was an open conversation and I told him what I knew. Whatever I knew, I told him. It was a straightforward, man-to-man conversation. It was fine." Grigson admitted that the Manning situation is in a "holding pattern," and he has not watched Manning throw.

New Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson indicated QB Peyton Manning's (neck) future wouldn't factor into the team's search for a head coach. Grigson is not yet ready to discuss whether Manning will return to the team in 2012. "In regards to Peyton, we're not even there with anything involving Peyton Manning quite yet," Grigson said. "We have to know about his medical, there are so many things. I'm not there yet."

Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said he will not make changes just for the sake of it. Grigson said he would like to salvage the roster if possible. "I've been on teams before where guys were ran out just for the sake of running them out. I like to salvage things," Grigson said. "If there is ability, why get rid of it if it's going to help us get to where we want to go."
