Eagles | Damaris Johnson leaves early

Tue, 06 Aug 2013 16:18:32 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Damaris Johnson (hamstring) left practice Tuesday, Aug. 6, due to a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Tip: When healthy, Johnson is likely to get a chance to scoot up the depth chart. Jeremy Maclin (knee) and Arrelious Benn (knee) are both done for the year, leaving serious depth questions at the receiver position in Philly's expected up-tempo offense.

Eagles | WR spots up for grabs

Tue, 09 Jul 2013 16:06:00 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WRs DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant and Damaris Johnson are considered locks to make the team. One or two more spots will be filled by Riley Cooper, Arrelious Benn, Ifeanyi Momah, B.J. Cunningham and Russell Shepard.

Fantasy Tip: Benn could be a better keep than Cooper because he can play the slot and outside along with his return experience. Either way, the wide receivers in Chip Kelly's system take a hit from past years in Andy Reid's. Jackson and Maclin are merely WR3s, and these depth players aren't as attractive as fantasy flyers anymore.

Eagles | Will mix and match at WR

Fri, 21 Sep 2012 09:28:47 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said the team will "mix and match" at the wide receiver position with WR Jeremy Maclin (hip) out for Week 3. WR Damaris Johnson saw more repetitions when Maclin was hurt last week, but the majority of looks went TE Brent Celek's and WR DeSean Jackson's way. "Damaris has done a great job in practice, understanding the scheme and what we're trying to get done," QB Michael Vick said, so hopefully, he can step in and fill the void."

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin ruled out for Week 3

Fri, 21 Sep 2012 09:21:53 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin (hip) did not practice Friday, Sept. 21, and is ruled out for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners should've been preparing for Week 3 as if this were going to be the case, anyway. This sounds like a short-term injury, at least. DeSean Jackson and Brent Celek may get a few more looks, and they remain good plays. Riley Cooper (broken collarbone) also remains out. Quick rookie Damaris Johnson figures to start, but he's not worth playing, especially since head coach Andy Reid said that he plans to "mix and match" at receiver. Jason Avant should remain in the slot, at least, and could be a desperate flex solution for those in pretty deep leagues; QB Michael Vick has a rapport with him.
