Patriots | Dwayne Allen comfortable with new offense

Sun, 13 Aug 2017 08:08:30 -0700

New England Patriots TE Dwayne Allen is running better than he was in the spring and seems more comfortable with the offense, according to ESPN.com's Mike Reiss.

Fantasy Tip: Allen is expected to fill the No. 2 tight end void left behind by Martellus Bennett, who finished last season with 55 catches for 701 yards and seven touchdowns in part because Rob Gronkowski was only able to play eight games. Also no stranger to missing games due to injury, Allen may be able to enjoy similar success if Gronk struggles to stay on the field again. The former Indianapolis Colts is well worth a late-round flyer as a TE2.

Patriots | Dwayne Allen seeing a ton of red zone work

Tue, 08 Aug 2017 10:20:04 -0700

New England Patriots TE Dwayne Allen has been the recipient of "a ton of targets in the red zone" during training camp, according to the Boston Globe's Ben Volin.

Fantasy Tip: Martellus Bennett's TE10 finish last year in PPR leagues - albeit helped by the amount of time Rob Gronkowski missed - should be enough proof for owners that New England can have two tight ends worth using in fantasy. Allen's biggest problem throughout his career has been staying healthy, however, so he figures to remain a highly volatile TE2.

Patriots | Dwayne Allen not a lock

Thu, 13 Jul 2017 07:18:27 -0700

New England Patriots TE Dwayne Allen isn't considered a lock to make the team, in the opinion of beat writer Mike Reiss.

Fantasy Tip: Allen had a 35-406-6 line last year, and he caught eight touchdowns in 29 receptions in 2014. With so many options to throw to in New England, Allen is a very risky TE2.

Colts | Indy trades Dwayne Allen

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 14:05:36 -0800

The Indianapolis Colts traded TE Dwayne Allen and a sixth-round draft pick to the New England Patriots in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Jack Doyle will take over as the starting tight end for the Colts and could see more targets with Allen traded. Owners should consider Doyle a low-end No. 1 tight end or a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Patriots | New England acquires Dwyane Allen

Wed, 08 Mar 2017 13:19:22 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen was acquired by the New England Patriots Wednesday, March 8, according to a source. It is not known what the Colts will receive in the trade.

Fantasy Tip: Allen likely will replace Martellus Bennett in the team's offense and should have a solid role in the passing game. He will have to share targets with the other pass catchers on the team and probably should be a No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Colts | Dwayne Allen held to just one grab

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 18:18:02 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen managed just one catch for 13 yards on two targets in the Week 15 game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: After a three-touchdown effort in Week 13 at N.Y. Jets he has just one catch in two games since. He cannot be trusted from a fantasy perspective heading into Week 16.

Colts | Dwayne Allen will play in Week 15

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 09:19:12 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (hip) is officially active for the team's Week 15 game.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has been an inconsistent option for owners this season and will be facing a solid Minnesota Vikings defense in Week 15. Owners probably should look for other options and can keep Allen on the bench.

Colts | Dwayne Allen questionable for Week 15

Fri, 16 Dec 2016 12:59:14 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (hip) is being considered questionable to suit up in the team's Week 15 game Sunday, Dec. 18, versus the Minnesota Vikings. Additionally, he was upgraded to full at practice Friday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Well it certainly bodes well for his chances of playing that he was able to get in a full practice on Friday, but after logging zero catches last weekend against the Texans, owners would be making a very peculiar decision in electing to start Allen opposite Minnesota's tough defensive unit. He should remain on benches and waiver wires this week.

Colts | Dwayne Allen limited

Thu, 15 Dec 2016 14:58:42 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (hip) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Allen's fantasy ceiling can't be reached as long as he's splitting time with Jack Doyle, save for the game when he scored three touchdowns in one half. He's not reliable enough to consider starting in the fantasy playoffs.
