Bengals | Tyler Eifert hopeful of Week 4 return

Fri, 26 Aug 2016 11:32:52 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is targeting Weeks 4-6 for his return from ankle surgery. He is hopeful it will come in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert only just started jogging, so that estimate sounds about right pertaining to when the former Notre Dame product will be back on the field. With Eifert still out and Tyler Kroft sidelined for about a month, second-year tight end C.J. Uzomah will get a brief opportunity to step up and could be a decent placeholder.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert to begin jogging

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 09:34:12 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) said he'll try to jog for the first time Monday, Aug. 22. Eifert said he has been running on a treadmill in the pool, and his ankle feels good. He has been lifting and receiving multiple treatments per day without setbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert is one of the top tight ends in fantasy despite his potential to miss a game or two. He could come at a discount in drafts because of the injury.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert resumes running

Fri, 05 Aug 2016 19:28:14 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) ran on the side field for the first time during training camp Thursday, Aug. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert could miss a game or two to open the year, but when healthy, he might be the best fantasy tight end not named Rob Gronkowski. He is still a solid TE1 option, and the injury could allow you to grab him at a discounted price.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert to shed boot soon

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 13:09:16 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is expected to have the walking boot on his surgically repaired ankle removed at some point next week. He will test his ankle with mobility and other range-of-motion exercises when the boot is removed. Eifert said his rehab is going well but does not have a timetable for his return.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert could miss at least one regular season game, so owners should keep an eye on the situation during training camp. He should be one of the top targets in the passing game this season and should still be considered a No. 1 tight end in all fantasy leagues.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert goes to PUP list

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 16:38:42 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, July 26. Eifert underwent right ankle surgery in late May.

Fantasy Tip: It's still unclear if Eifert will be ready to play by Week 1. His status should be monitored closely throughout training camp and the preseason. If it looks like he'll be good to go before the season starts, he should still be considered a mid TE1.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert's rehab on schedule

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 12:17:06 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is reportedly progressing as planned following right ankle surgery on May 27, according to a league source.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert is still in a race against time to be ready for Week 1. Fantasy owners shouldn't count on him making it either, just to be on the safe side. Eifert could easily be one of the more popular medium-risk, high-reward players on draft day over the next month-plus, as he is regularly available in the sixth and sometimes even the seventh round of 12-team drafts.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert set to miss games?

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 16:12:56 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is expected to miss the early part of the season, according to director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

Fantasy Tip: Even if he misses a handful of games, Eifert is still a TE1 candidate, albeit more of a mid-range option. Meanwhile, his absence early in the year could speed up the growth of rookie receiver Tyler Boyd.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert's injury didn't improve

Sun, 29 May 2016 18:19:12 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert's (ankle) ankle injury didn't improve as expected following the initial evaluation, and surgery became the only option.

Fantasy Tip: In hindsight, it would have been better for Eifert to have surgery immediately following the injury, which occurred at the Pro Bowl. As it stands, he will likely miss a couple of regular seasons games but should still be viewed as a top five fantasy tight end.

Bengals | More on Tyler Eifert operation

Wed, 25 May 2016 07:01:50 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is having surgery to repair a loose ligament on the side of his foot.

Fantasy Tip: The three-month recovery window likely includes six to eight weeks to recover and a month to have his "training camp." Tyler Kroft could be a sleeper in the first couple of games for DFS play, but he's not worth drafting unless Eifert's timetable changes. Eifert could slip into the midrange of starting tight ends in fantasy, but he shouldn't far too far in drafts.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert could miss multiple games

Wed, 25 May 2016 06:39:58 -0700

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) will undergo surgery on his ankle Wednesday, May 25, and he could miss the first couple of games of the regular season, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: It would be a huge blow to the team, but the fantasy ramifications aren't crippling to his draft stock. At worst, Eifert would fall into the glut of midrange TE1s. When analyzing what's left at the position after the first few are off the board, Eifert is likely to be the first one taken even if he misses two games. So his value doesn't plummet. Tyler Kroft could be a sleeper in the first couple of games for DFS play, but he's not worth drafting unless Eifert's timetable changes.
