Bengals | Tyler Eifert undergoes knee procedure

Sat, 18 Nov 2017 09:11:02 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back, knee), who is already out for the season due to back surgery, recently had another procedure to remove a cyst in his knee.

Fantasy Tip: With Tyler Kroft playing well and Eifert seemingly unable to play more than a few games in a row without breaking down, Eifert is a strong candidate to be allowed to test the unrestricted free agency market at the end of the season. Given his lack of durability, he should be considered no more than a TE2 regardless of where he ends up.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert done in Cincinnati?

Sat, 14 Oct 2017 20:14:11 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back), who is out for the year, will be a free agent after this season, and Paul Dehner Jr. of The Cincinnati Enquirer believes Eifert has played his last game for the franchise.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert has been a monster in the red zone when healthy, but his career has been repeatedly stalled by injuries. He will be worth drafting wherever he plays next year, but don't count on him playing all 16 games.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert placed on IR

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 12:27:32 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Oct. 12. Eifert will undergo surgery Thursday and will miss the rest of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Another Tyler will take over as the starting tight end for the Bengals: Tyler Kroft. He is a worthy pickup for those who are in a tight spot at the position, but don't rely on him as an every-week starter as opposed to Eifert.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert will undergo surgery

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 17:24:59 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) is scheduled to undergo season-ending back surgery Thursday, Oct. 12, and will be sidelined for four to six months, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Tyler Kroft likely will be the starting tight end for the Bengals for the rest of the season and has played well over the last few weeks. He can be a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues and can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end against certain opponents.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert could be out for year

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 13:51:32 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) is considering undergoing another surgery on his back that would end his season, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Death, taxes and Tyler Eifert not playing a full season. The oft-injured tight end has never played a full 16-game season in his five-year career and has only played 10 games the last two seasons. If he does have the surgery then he can be dropped in traditional leagues. Names like George Kittle, Tyler Kroft or Ed Dickson can be picked up to replace Eifert in such a case.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert sits again

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 14:22:47 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert likely will miss this week and could miss more time because of his injury. Tyler Kroft has been playing well over the last few weeks and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues or a bye week replacement.

Bengals | John Ross, Tyler Eifert out of practice again

Wed, 04 Oct 2017 10:29:16 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (knee) and TE Tyler Eifert (back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Both players are expected to miss Week 5 versus the Buffalo Bills, and it wouldn't make much sense to push them with a bye coming up in Week 6. Ross should have already been dropped in the majority of redraft leagues, while owners should have already been prepared for a long-term replacement plan regarding Eifert given his injury history.

Mon, 25 Sep 2017 15:04:21 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) is expected to miss several weeks because of his back injury but will not need surgery, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Tyler Kroft likely will continue to be the starting tight end with Eifert out but only posted 28 yards in Week 3. Owners should be able to find a better short-term option until Eifert returns and can avoid Kroft.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert ruled out

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 09:27:04 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back, knee) has been ruled out for Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: It's an expected outcome after missing practice all week, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating for his fantasy owners. Already one of the league's most injury-prone players, Eifert produced only four catches for 46 scoreless yards in his first two games. Owners should not hesitate moving on from him if they need the room on their roster or, at the very least, add a player like Benjamin Watson or Zach Miller to help them through Eifert's absence. Cincinnati will use C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Kroft to replace him.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert out of Friday practice

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 08:41:42 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back, knee) is out of practice Friday, Sept. 22, and unlikely to play in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Tyler Kroft figures to take over, but the entire offense has been a mess this season. Look elsewhere for a tight end in fantasy.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert out of practice

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 08:45:26 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (knee, back) is out of practice Thursday, Sept. 21, and appears unlikely to play in Week 3, in the opinion of ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: The entire offense has sputtered, and Tyler Kroft looks like he'll be the starter against the Green Bay Packers. He's only a basement option in DFS formats.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert a no-go Wednesday

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 11:05:49 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (knee, back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Perhaps the league's most injury-prone tight end, Eifert has been a victim of the Bengals' woeful offense the first two weeks of the season, as Cincinnati has yet to score a touchdown. Perhaps the change at offensive coordinator to Bill Lazor will spark the offense, but Eifert can be benched in most leagues - assuming he can play in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers - until the offense shows some signs of life.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert iffy for Week 3

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 08:52:22 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back, knee) is battling back and knee injuries, and his status for Week 3 is uncertain.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert has been less than durable for a few seasons now, and he, along with the entire offense, has struggled to open the season. If he suits up, you're still probably better off finding a different option for now.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert being looked at by trainers

Thu, 14 Sep 2017 19:42:01 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (undisclosed) exited against the Houston Texans and is being worked on by trainers on the sidelines Thursday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert appeared to be having his leg and hip stretched, but stay tuned for updates. He is a TE1 candidate whenever he suits up, but injuries continue to be a problem.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert nearly invisible in loss

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 18:22:09 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert was targeted just once in Week 1 against the Ravens, posting a four-yard reception.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert has had some difficulty staying on the field in recent seasons, but all indications are he is 100 percent heading into this season. It was a disappointing start for a tight end with TE1 ability, especially as a red zone threat. He'll try to bounce back in Week 2 against Houston on Thursday.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert ready to play

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 12:38:38 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 8, and is not on the injury report for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert should receive a solid amount of targets in Week 1 and will be a factor in the red zone. He will be a weekly starting option this season as long as can stay healthy.

Bengals | Full practice for Tyler Eifert

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 12:33:48 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert's injury history is extensive, but he has an unquestioned nose for the end zone when he is on the field. As Andy Dalton's second favorite target, Eifert is cemented in TE1 territory until the injury bug bites again.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert takes part in full practice

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 13:47:19 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (knee) was able to participate in a full practice on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert, who has had trouble staying on the field in recent seasons due to a multitude of injuries, has the potential to be a high-end No. 1 fantasy option at his position if he can stay healthy. He figures to be among the team's target leaders and he is always a big threat in the red zone.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert back on the field

Mon, 04 Sep 2017 16:40:06 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (knee) participated in practice Monday, Sept. 4. Eifert did not play in the final two preseason games because of the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert recorded 394 yards and five touchdowns in limited playing time last season but should be ready to play in Week 1. He should receive a good amount of targets this season as long as he can stay healthy and will be a No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert fully healthy

Fri, 28 Jul 2017 10:00:21 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert claims he has been healthy for a "couple months" and is cleared the start of training camp after undergoing back surgery in December.

Fantasy Tip: Good news for the oft-injured tight end, who has missed 26 of 48 games over the last three seasons. When healthy, Eifert is on par with Rob Gronkowski in terms of his ability to find the end zone. Consider him a high-risk, high-reward TE1 in fantasy.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert expected for camp

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 06:52:05 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) is expected to be ready for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a 13-touchdown performance in 2015, Eifert has struggled with the injury bug. He has played in just 22 games over the last three years. With the depth of the position on the come up, there is ample risk taking him in the midrange TE1 portion of fantasy. Monitor him throughout camp.

Bengals | Mason Schreck a threat in passing game

Sat, 29 Apr 2017 19:29:11 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Mason Schreck said his game is similar to that of TE Tyler Eifert, and head coach Marvin Lewis said Schreck is a big, physical receiver and "just a good all-around prospect."

Bengals | Tyler Eifert unsure of readiness for camp

Mon, 17 Apr 2017 19:04:14 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) said that while his back "feels great" after offseason surgery, he doesn't know if he'll be ready in time for training camp. "I don't know," Eifert stated. "I'll have to see how I'm feeling and go from there. I've still lost a lot of strength with the nerve issues and all of that stuff. Just working through some of that. Once I get my strength back I'll be fine."

Fantasy Tip: Only about a week ago, it seemed Eifert would indeed be healthy enough by the time training camp rolls around, but now his status looks to be up in the air. It's definitely concerning, considering the 26-year-old missed eight games last season, but hopefully it doesn't affect his status going into Week 1. He's still worth the investment in drafts as a TE1 for his mega potential to lead all players at his position.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert says back feels 'great'

Mon, 10 Apr 2017 21:46:58 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) said that he continues to get better and his back feels great. "I'll be ready and healthy and strong and be ready to go by the time it's go time," Eifert stated. "I'm close." The 26-year-old added that he doesn't know when he'll be cleared to resume regular workouts, but he did mention he'll be ready for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: It's good to see Eifert is progressing well, as it appears he'll be healthy for the start of the upcoming season, which wasn't the case a year ago, when he missed the first four games of the 2016 campaign. If the four-year veteran can just stay healthy, he has the potential to be arguably the most impactful TE1 in the league. For that type of upside, he's always worth the risk in drafting him.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert has knack for scoring

Sun, 19 Feb 2017 19:05:13 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert had five touchdowns in eight games in 2016, and he has 18 touchdowns in 21 games over the last two seasons combined.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries keep derailing Eifert, but when he is on the field, he is a monster in the red zone. Even with the injury risk, he is worth the gamble as a midrange TE1.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert back by camp

Mon, 02 Jan 2017 08:33:04 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) said the prognosis on his back is good, and he'll definitely be back for training camp. He has a meeting with a doctor in a couple of days.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert was productive when he was on the field after ankle surgery kept him out for the start of the season. He's an injury risk, but no doubt he'll be among the midrange TE1 area in next year's drafts.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert undergoes surgery

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 06:10:04 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) underwent back surgery Tuesday, Dec. 28, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert was productive in his injury-shortened season. The back surgery isn't expected to cut into the 2017 season, but his inability to stay healthy gives him some questions as a high-end TE1.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert may need surgery

Tue, 27 Dec 2016 08:05:11 -0800

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) had surgery recommended to correct a disc problem in his back, which has become more uncomfortable in recent weeks, according to multiple sources. The 2017 season isn't in jeopardy.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert performed well in spurts, but it was mostly a lost season plagued by injuries. He'll be a high-end tight end to target next season with another caution label.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert placed on IR

Mon, 26 Dec 2016 11:55:42 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 26.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a big surprise when players go to the IR this late in the season with one game left to play. Cody Core played a huge role in the Bengals' offense last week with Eifert out. He should be a factor again in Week 17 for those still in contention and want to replace Eifert.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert will not play Week 16

Fri, 23 Dec 2016 10:55:45 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) has been ruled out for Week 16 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: It's been a wasted season for Eifert, who missed the first six games of the season recovering from ankle surgery as well as a back injury. Tyler Kroft is also injured, leaving C.J. Uzomah as the last man standing at the position. He won't be worth using in fantasy, however, as the Texans have been stout against tight ends for most of the season.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert injury update

Wed, 21 Dec 2016 15:09:09 -0800

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) missed practice Wednesday, Dec. 21, because of a back injury.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Eifert is in any danger of missing the team's Week 16 game, so owners should check on his status later in the week. He was held to only one catch for nine yards in the last game but did have four touchdowns in the previous three games. Eifert can be a decent No. 1 tight end option if he plays.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert out of practice

Wed, 21 Dec 2016 08:49:23 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (undisclosed) is out of practice Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: It could just be a maintenance day, but Eifert was held to one catch for nine yards after a string of four TDs in three games. The Houston Texans present the second-worst matchup for him after a five-week stretch where they've allowed a 17-155-1 line to tight ends. He's a risky TE1 with A.J. Green (hamstring) expected back.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert has two touchdowns

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 14:19:58 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert caught five passes for 48 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 23-10 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert has responded strong following injuries that hampered him to start the season. He is back to a TE1 threat, satisfying fantasy owners that held on to him through the worst of times.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert posts 25 yards, TD

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 20:29:50 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert posted two catches for 25 yards and a touchdown in the Week 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was targeted just two times.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles do not give up a lot to opposing tight ends, so the fact he found the end zone for his fantasy owners is impressive. He will look for an even bigger line in a much more favorable matchup on the road against the Cleveland Browns in Week 14.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert targeted 11 times

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 14:04:00 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert was targeted 11 times by QB Andy Dalton and caught five passes for 68 yards and a touchdown in a 19-12 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Given the fact Baltimore had the league's second-rated defense, Eifert's output came as a bit of a surprise. The Ravens are known for shutting down top targets, and Cincinnati was without top players like A.J. Green and Giovani Bernard. This should cement Eifert as a surefire TE1.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert facing double coverage

Tue, 22 Nov 2016 11:58:27 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert was double covered more often than usual in the Bengals' Week 11 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Bills could afford to send more help against Eifert with WR A.J. Green (hamstring) exiting the game early. Eifert can expect to see more of the same in Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens with Green sidelined.

Fantasy Tip: The Ravens are already one of the best defenses against tight ends, but Eifert will be in for an extra doozy with Green out. He's still in TE1 territory as he should see more volume, but don't get your hopes too high for Eifert's Week 12 output.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert held in check

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 15:10:54 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert caught three passes for 37 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert should see more targets moving forward with Green expected to miss time because of a hamstring injury. Eifert has played well since returning from his offseason surgery and should be considered as a No. 1 tight end against most opponents.

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 14:51:24 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 18, and is not on the injury report for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert has made a big impact since returning from his offseason ankle injury and will continue to be a focal point in the passing game. He should be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.
