Bengals | Tyler Eifert targeted 11 times

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 14:04:00 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert was targeted 11 times by QB Andy Dalton and caught five passes for 68 yards and a touchdown in a 19-12 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Given the fact Baltimore had the league's second-rated defense, Eifert's output came as a bit of a surprise. The Ravens are known for shutting down top targets, and Cincinnati was without top players like A.J. Green and Giovani Bernard. This should cement Eifert as a surefire TE1.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert facing double coverage

Tue, 22 Nov 2016 11:58:27 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert was double covered more often than usual in the Bengals' Week 11 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Bills could afford to send more help against Eifert with WR A.J. Green (hamstring) exiting the game early. Eifert can expect to see more of the same in Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens with Green sidelined.

Fantasy Tip: The Ravens are already one of the best defenses against tight ends, but Eifert will be in for an extra doozy with Green out. He's still in TE1 territory as he should see more volume, but don't get your hopes too high for Eifert's Week 12 output.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert held in check

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 15:10:54 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert caught three passes for 37 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert should see more targets moving forward with Green expected to miss time because of a hamstring injury. Eifert has played well since returning from his offseason surgery and should be considered as a No. 1 tight end against most opponents.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert should be in uniform

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 14:51:24 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 18, and is not on the injury report for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert has made a big impact since returning from his offseason ankle injury and will continue to be a focal point in the passing game. He should be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert practices in full

Thu, 17 Nov 2016 16:14:50 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (knee) practiced in full Thursday, Nov. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert was limited on Wednesday, so this should ease any concerns his owners might have. As is always the case when he's healthy, Eifert will be a TE1 in Week 11 against the Bills, with the potential to produce a big performance.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert limited

Wed, 16 Nov 2016 13:17:08 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: The prodigal tight end has totaled 198 yards in his last two games, scoring once. He and A.J. Green are easily Andy Dalton's favorite targets and should be started most weeks. This is one of those weeks as the Buffalo Bills have been subpar defensively against tight ends this year.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert totals 96 yards

Mon, 14 Nov 2016 20:59:56 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert posted three receptions for 96 yards in the Week 10 game against the New York Giants Monday, Nov. 14. The highlight of his night was a 71-yard reception in the first quarter. He was targeted five times.

Fantasy Tip: Considering how Eifert started out, his overall stat line was a bit disappointing. Still, he has 12 catches for 198 yards and a touchdown over his past two games and he has re-emerged as a bona fide TE1 in all fantasy leagues.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert catches TD pass

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 13:22:19 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert caught nine passes for 102 yards and one touchdown against the Washington Redskins in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert missed most of the season because of various injuries but appears to be fully recovered. He should be one of the main targets in the Bengals' passing game for the rest of the season and will be a weekly starting option for fantasy owners.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert likely to be more involved

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 10:21:45 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert should play a "much closer to full" role against the Washington Redskins in Week 8 after being limited to 15 snaps in a Week 7 versus the Cleveland Browns, according to ESPN's Katherine Terrell.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert is no longer on the injury report, so owners who have remained patient to this point are about to get rewarded. The Bengals go on their bye next week, however, meaning those same owners should probably keep another tight end on the roster for now. Eifert can be a difference-making TE1 in fantasy, so owners should not hesitate to start him this week.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert will have bigger role

Mon, 24 Oct 2016 13:40:10 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert's (back) role will expand going forward, according to head coach Marvin Lewis. Eifert was limited to just third downs and red zone plays.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert is one of the better tight ends in the league when he's healthy, but it might be better to take the wait-and-see approach at least for one more week. He's too risky to consider as a TE1 just yet after a serious injury.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert held to one catch

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 14:32:37 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert caught one pass for nine yards against the Cleveland Browns in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert likely will be more involved in the upcoming weeks, but this was his first game of the 2016 season. He could be a low-end No. 1 tight end at this point and probably will become a weekly starting option later in the season.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert active for Week 7

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 08:43:20 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back, ankle) is active for Week 7's game against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert makes a somewhat risky fantasy option because this is his first game of the year and he will likely see a limited number of snaps, although he has a favorable matchup and was a full participant in practice Friday, Oct. 21.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert expected to play

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 06:08:58 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back, ankle) is expected to make his season debut in Week 7's game against the Cleveland Browns, assuming that head coach Marvin Lewis gives him the green light to play. However, he could see limited snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Although Eifert was a full participant in practice during the team's sessions Thursday, Oct. 20, and Friday, Oct. 21, he should still be viewed as a somewhat risky fantasy option despite the favorable matchup because this is his first game of the season. If Eifert suffers a setback during pregame warmups, C.J. Uzomah would start at tight end but he is not a great option.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert officially questionable

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 14:42:17 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle, back) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 21, and is listed as questionable for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the inactive list to see if Eifert is active for the game. He will be a risky option if he plays against the Cleveland Browns but could be a starting candidate because of his matchup.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert's status yet to be determined

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 11:39:59 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) will not be a game-time decision, according to head coach Marvin Lewis, who said he'll make the call on whether the Pro Bowler will make his season debut in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Lewis plans on making the call Saturday, and the fact the Pro Bowl tight end has yet to be ruled out yet is a good sign. With Eifert still limited in practices this week, it would be unwise for owners to expect him to rediscover his 2015 form right away despite a very favorable matchup, however. In all likelihood, Eifert will share snaps this week with C.J. Uzomah and possibly even Tyler Kroft if he goes, making his a dicey fantasy start.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert practices in full

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 11:54:35 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle, back) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 20. He said he feels great and believes he can play in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Eifert has a solid chance to play this week, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. He could receive limited snaps if he is active since he has not played this season. Eifert is a risky option for owners this week, but he could be an attractive No. 1 tight end because of the matchup.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert back out there

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 08:15:25 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back, ankle) is practicing again Thursday, Oct. 20, and he doesn't have any protection or support on his surgically repaired ankle.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert may have considerable rust to kick off, but he'd be a mid-to-low TE1 against the hapless Cleveland Browns this week.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert needs practice to play

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 20:09:52 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) needs to go through a full practice in order to play in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns. The practice for Thursday generally is telling in terms of game planning.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert has been slow to return from an ankle injury, and then back issue. He was a red zone threat last season, and the Cincinnati offense has really struggled with Eifert on the sidelines. If he is available off the waiver wire, snatch him up now even if he is out again in Week 7. He will be a must-start TE1 when healthy.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert limited

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 15:16:03 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle, back) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert appears to have a chance to make his season debut in Week 7, but owners will see if he suffers any setbacks during the week. He would have a role in the passing game if he is active against the Cleveland Browns and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert to practice

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 09:19:26 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) will practice Wednesday, Oct. 19, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

Fantasy Tip: If Eifert is able to suit up this week, he'd face the winless Cleveland Browns. Eifert has been out all season due to ankle and back injuries, but he'd be worth consideration as a low-end TE1 or bye-week replacement.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert ruled out vs. New England

Fri, 14 Oct 2016 12:21:17 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) has been ruled out for the team's Week 6 contest Sunday, Oct. 16, versus the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: It's a very unfortunate development for his owners, as Eifert was drafted with the idea that he'd be back around this point from offseason ankle surgery, but then a back injury came into the picture as well. In his absence, expect C.J. Uzomah to pick up another start at tight end, but he's not a very inspiring option for most leagues, with just 16 catches and zero scores through the season's first five ballgames.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert remains out

Thu, 13 Oct 2016 08:48:17 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) is out of practice Thursday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert is really iffy against the New England Patriots in Week 6. Lean on the side of not playing him this weekend.

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 11:20:11 -0700

Bengals | Tyler Eifert could return next week

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 06:36:06 -0700

The Cincinnati Bengals believe TE Tyler Eifert (back, ankle) could make his season debut against the New England Patriots in Week 6, according to a club official.

Fantasy Tip: C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Kroft will continue to split time at tight end for Cincinnati while Eifert remains sidelined. Uzomah should be viewed as nothing more than a replacement option for bye weeks, while Kroft has no fantasy relevance.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert out Week 5

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 10:33:57 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back, ankle) will not play Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Kroft will once again fill the void for Cincinnati, which ranks last in the league converting red-zone trips into touchdowns this season (30.8 percent) without Eifert finishing sixth a season ago. Only Uzomah is worthy of streaming consideration, and he's a low-end option at that.

Bengals | Coach not ruling out Tyler Eifert

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 10:49:04 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle, back) is dealing with a sore back, but head coach Marvin Lewis said Eifert still has a chance to play in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should keep an eye on the situation over the next few days to see if Eifert is on track to play this week. Owners should probably look for other options to use because Eifert could be limited if he does play.

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 09:19:24 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle, back) is not participating in practice Thursday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert was on track to return to the lineup soon but is now dealing with a back injury in addition to his ankle injury. Owners should not expect Eifert to play in Week 5, but they can keep an eye on the situation to see if anything changes.

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 16:24:40 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle, back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see how long Eifert may be sidelined because of the new injury. He has not been able to play at all this season and should be avoided in fantasy leagues until he is able to return to the field.

Wed, 28 Sep 2016 14:39:17 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 26, and is listed as doubtful for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert likely will miss one more game but should be able to play in Week 5 if he does not suffer any setbacks. C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Kroft will continue to share time at tight end, but neither player is a strong fantasy option.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert listed as doubtful

Wed, 28 Sep 2016 12:41:42 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) was listed as doubtful for the Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins Thursday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert scored 13 touchdowns in 13 games last season, but fantasy owners will have to wait at least another week before sliding him into their starting lineups. C.J. Uzomah has been targeted 17 times through the first three games, but he has turned the hefty target share into just seven receptions and 99 yards. He's a desperation fantasy option.

Bengals | Limited practice for Tyler Eifert

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 15:33:15 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) was limited in practice Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert is already considered unlikely to play this week, especially since the Bengals are playing Thursday night. C.J. Uzomah has been a decent replacement, but he hasn't produced enough to warrant starter consideration. Wait at least another week before starting Eifert.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert expected to sit out Week 4

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 09:16:25 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) has yet to make it through a full practice or participate in 11-on-11 drills, making it unlikely he will be ready to play in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, Sept. 29, according to ESPN's Bob Holtzman. A team source told Holtman a Week 5 return versus the Dallas Cowboys "is possible".

Fantasy Tip: Eifert has stated publicly he "feels good" and would leave it up to the coaches whether or not he would see the field versus the Dolphins, but he's shaping up to be a game-time decision at best. Considering he'd have so little practice time under him and be on a snap count, he'd be very difficult to trust in fantasy. With athletic freak Byron Jones usually responsible for tight end coverage for the Cowboys in Week 5, Eifert may not be relevant in fantasy until Week 6 at the earliest.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert feels good

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 07:31:10 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) said he had no soreness after running routes last week, and he said it's up to the coaches if he plays in Week 4 Thursday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals face off against the Miami Dolphins this week, but Eifert is a sketchy play in fantasy if he suits up. It's probably best to give him another week even if he makes his debut.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert limited Monday

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 15:52:30 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Eifert is believed to be close to returning, but it is not known if he will have a chance to play in Week 4. Owners will need to keep an eye on his practice participation during the week to have a better idea of his status. Owners may want to see him play in a game before considering him for their starting lineups.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert nearing return

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 12:42:43 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is close to returning, according to head coach Marvin Lewis. Eifert has missed the first three weeks of the season following ankle surgery in the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: A.J. Green has been the make beneficiary of Eifert's misfortunes, but C.J. Uzomah has filled in well. Unfortunately, Uzomah doesn't produce enough to warrant a place in starting lineups. It may be best to keep Eifert on the bench when he returns, too, as he may be eased in.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert to be limited upon return

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 11:37:59 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) will not play in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos per head coach Marvin Lewis and see his snaps limited when he does return.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals play the Thursday night game at home versus the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, so it is conceivable Eifert will get his partial game in on a short week, giving him a true full week of practice and recovery in hopes he can play a normal complement of snaps against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5. Given the difficulty of that matchup, owners may want to wait until Week 6 to start him in fantasy.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert unlikely this week

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 05:56:28 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is unlikely to play in Week 3, in the opinion of beat writer Katherine Terrell.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert out Week 2

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 09:28:15 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) has been ruled out for the Week 2 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: C.J. Uzomah started in place of Eifert last week, and Uzomah caught two of five targets for 59 yards. Tyler Kroft and Ryan Hewitt are also in the mix, but neither were targeted in Week 1 and both played just seven offensive snaps. Uzomah is the only viable starting option for desperate fantasy owners. Additionally, Eifert's absence likely just means A.J. Green and the receiving corps are going to be leaned on heavily again in Week 2. Eifert is worth stashing in all settings.

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 15.

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is likely a few weeks from returning, according to a source. He's only running at half speed and is out for Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Tyler Kroft didn't catch a pass in Week 1, and he's not a suitable replacement. If you own Eifert, keep him stashed because he could wind up being a midrange TE1 before the end of the season.
