Bengals | Limited practice for Tyler Eifert

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 15:33:15 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert is already considered unlikely to play this week, especially since the Bengals are playing Thursday night. C.J. Uzomah has been a decent replacement, but he hasn't produced enough to warrant starter consideration. Wait at least another week before starting Eifert.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert expected to sit out Week 4

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 09:16:25 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) has yet to make it through a full practice or participate in 11-on-11 drills, making it unlikely he will be ready to play in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, Sept. 29, according to ESPN's Bob Holtzman. A team source told Holtman a Week 5 return versus the Dallas Cowboys "is possible".

Fantasy Tip: Eifert has stated publicly he "feels good" and would leave it up to the coaches whether or not he would see the field versus the Dolphins, but he's shaping up to be a game-time decision at best. Considering he'd have so little practice time under him and be on a snap count, he'd be very difficult to trust in fantasy. With athletic freak Byron Jones usually responsible for tight end coverage for the Cowboys in Week 5, Eifert may not be relevant in fantasy until Week 6 at the earliest.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert feels good

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 07:31:10 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) said he had no soreness after running routes last week, and he said it's up to the coaches if he plays in Week 4 Thursday, Sept. 29.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals face off against the Miami Dolphins this week, but Eifert is a sketchy play in fantasy if he suits up. It's probably best to give him another week even if he makes his debut.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert limited Monday

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 15:52:30 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) was limited during practice Monday, Sept. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert is believed to be close to returning, but it is not known if he will have a chance to play in Week 4. Owners will need to keep an eye on his practice participation during the week to have a better idea of his status. Owners may want to see him play in a game before considering him for their starting lineups.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert nearing return

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 12:42:43 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is close to returning, according to head coach Marvin Lewis. Eifert has missed the first three weeks of the season following ankle surgery in the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: A.J. Green has been the make beneficiary of Eifert's misfortunes, but C.J. Uzomah has filled in well. Unfortunately, Uzomah doesn't produce enough to warrant a place in starting lineups. It may be best to keep Eifert on the bench when he returns, too, as he may be eased in.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert likely will miss at least one more game but should return in the near future. Owners may want to see him play in a game or two before using him in their starting lineups.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert to be limited upon return

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 11:37:59 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) will not play in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos per head coach Marvin Lewis and see his snaps limited when he does return.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals play the Thursday night game at home versus the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, so it is conceivable Eifert will get his partial game in on a short week, giving him a true full week of practice and recovery in hopes he can play a normal complement of snaps against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5. Given the difficulty of that matchup, owners may want to wait until Week 6 to start him in fantasy.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert unlikely this week

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 05:56:28 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is unlikely to play in Week 3, in the opinion of beat writer Katherine Terrell.

Fantasy Tip: Tyler Kroft has just three catches for 35 yards as the tight end spot has been invisible from the passing attack. That'll change when Eifert returns, and he should remain stashed.

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 08:46:37 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) will return to practice Wednesday, Sept. 21, but he's unsure if he'll play in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: If Eifert returns this week, he'd have some rust to kick off, and there are better options to roll with in fantasy.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert out Week 2

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 09:28:15 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) has been ruled out for the Week 2 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: C.J. Uzomah started in place of Eifert last week, and Uzomah caught two of five targets for 59 yards. Tyler Kroft and Ryan Hewitt are also in the mix, but neither were targeted in Week 1 and both played just seven offensive snaps. Uzomah is the only viable starting option for desperate fantasy owners. Additionally, Eifert's absence likely just means A.J. Green and the receiving corps are going to be leaned on heavily again in Week 2. Eifert is worth stashing in all settings.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert still sidelined

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 17:15:20 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert is expected to miss a few more weeks, but he should be stashed in all formats. Tyler Kroft should start in the meantime, but he is nothing more than a shot-in-the-dark DFS option.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert likely weeks away

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 06:10:40 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is likely a few weeks from returning, according to a source. He's only running at half speed and is out for Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Tyler Kroft didn't catch a pass in Week 1, and he's not a suitable replacement. If you own Eifert, keep him stashed because he could wind up being a midrange TE1 before the end of the season.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert misses practice

Wed, 14 Sep 2016 14:36:09 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert probably will not be ready to play this week and could miss a few more weeks because of his ankle. Tyler Kroft should continue to start at tight end but can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Fri, 09 Sep 2016 12:12:02 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) did not practice Friday, Sept. 9, and has been ruled out for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: No surprise here ... make sure Eifert is deactivated in all formats. TE Tyler Kroft (knee) was a full go in practice and could see a bigger role in conjunction with TE C.J. Uzomah. Neither player should be used in typical leagues.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert will not practice this week

Mon, 05 Sep 2016 11:47:25 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) will not practice at all prior to his team's Week 1 game against the New York Jets, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert isn't expected back until around Week 4, so this should come as no surprise. Backup Tyler Kroft has a shot to play in the opener, but his knee injury makes his questionable at best, which leaves C.J. Uzomah as the last man standing. Owners are advised to avoid this situation entirely until Eifert is cleared to go.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert hopeful of Week 4 return

Fri, 26 Aug 2016 11:32:52 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is targeting Weeks 4-6 for his return from ankle surgery. He is hopeful it will come in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert only just started jogging, so that estimate sounds about right pertaining to when the former Notre Dame product will be back on the field. With Eifert still out and Tyler Kroft sidelined for about a month, second-year tight end C.J. Uzomah will get a brief opportunity to step up and could be a decent placeholder.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert to begin jogging

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 09:34:12 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) said he'll try to jog for the first time Monday, Aug. 22. Eifert said he has been running on a treadmill in the pool, and his ankle feels good. He has been lifting and receiving multiple treatments per day without setbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert is one of the top tight ends in fantasy despite his potential to miss a game or two. He could come at a discount in drafts because of the injury.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert resumes running

Fri, 05 Aug 2016 19:28:14 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) ran on the side field for the first time during training camp Thursday, Aug. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert could miss a game or two to open the year, but when healthy, he might be the best fantasy tight end not named Rob Gronkowski. He is still a solid TE1 option, and the injury could allow you to grab him at a discounted price.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert to shed boot soon

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 13:09:16 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is expected to have the walking boot on his surgically repaired ankle removed at some point next week. He will test his ankle with mobility and other range-of-motion exercises when the boot is removed. Eifert said his rehab is going well but does not have a timetable for his return.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert could miss at least one regular season game, so owners should keep an eye on the situation during training camp. He should be one of the top targets in the passing game this season and should still be considered a No. 1 tight end in all fantasy leagues.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert goes to PUP list

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 16:38:42 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, July 26. Eifert underwent right ankle surgery in late May.

Fantasy Tip: It's still unclear if Eifert will be ready to play by Week 1. His status should be monitored closely throughout training camp and the preseason. If it looks like he'll be good to go before the season starts, he should still be considered a mid TE1.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert's rehab on schedule

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 12:17:06 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is reportedly progressing as planned following right ankle surgery on May 27, according to a league source.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert is still in a race against time to be ready for Week 1. Fantasy owners shouldn't count on him making it either, just to be on the safe side. Eifert could easily be one of the more popular medium-risk, high-reward players on draft day over the next month-plus, as he is regularly available in the sixth and sometimes even the seventh round of 12-team drafts.

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 16:12:56 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is expected to miss the early part of the season, according to director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

Fantasy Tip: Even if he misses a handful of games, Eifert is still a TE1 candidate, albeit more of a mid-range option. Meanwhile, his absence early in the year could speed up the growth of rookie receiver Tyler Boyd.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert's injury didn't improve

Sun, 29 May 2016 18:19:12 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert's (ankle) ankle injury didn't improve as expected following the initial evaluation, and surgery became the only option.

Fantasy Tip: In hindsight, it would have been better for Eifert to have surgery immediately following the injury, which occurred at the Pro Bowl. As it stands, he will likely miss a couple of regular seasons games but should still be viewed as a top five fantasy tight end.

Bengals | More on Tyler Eifert operation

Wed, 25 May 2016 07:01:50 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) is having surgery to repair a loose ligament on the side of his foot.

Fantasy Tip: The three-month recovery window likely includes six to eight weeks to recover and a month to have his "training camp." Tyler Kroft could be a sleeper in the first couple of games for DFS play, but he's not worth drafting unless Eifert's timetable changes. Eifert could slip into the midrange of starting tight ends in fantasy, but he shouldn't far too far in drafts.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert could miss multiple games

Wed, 25 May 2016 06:39:58 -0700

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) will undergo surgery on his ankle Wednesday, May 25, and he could miss the first couple of games of the regular season, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: It would be a huge blow to the team, but the fantasy ramifications aren't crippling to his draft stock. At worst, Eifert would fall into the glut of midrange TE1s. When analyzing what's left at the position after the first few are off the board, Eifert is likely to be the first one taken even if he misses two games. So his value doesn't plummet. Tyler Kroft could be a sleeper in the first couple of games for DFS play, but he's not worth drafting unless Eifert's timetable changes.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert a valuable scorer

Tue, 24 May 2016 12:05:19 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) scored on 18.6% of his 70 targets (13 touchdowns). No one with at least 20 targets had a higher percentage of targets result in touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert will certainly be missed if he misses any playing time during the regular season. He is in jeopardy of missing Week 1 after his upcoming ankle surgery. Tyler Kroft would likely fill in as the starter if Eifert can't play. He'd be worth a long look as a cheap tight end, specifically in daily contests, if Eifert is out for Week 1.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert may miss Week 1

Tue, 24 May 2016 11:20:45 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) may not be ready for the start of the regular season, according to a source. Eifert will have surgery on his injured ankle in the near future. His expected recovery time is three months.

Fantasy Tip: As stated earlier, Eifert's fantasy value could be affected depending on how long it takes him to recover. If Eifert isn't ready for Week 1, or if he's sluggish out of the gate, then Tyler Kroft could be a nice sleeper, even if for a week, specifically in daily formats.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert to have ankle surgery

Tue, 24 May 2016 10:43:36 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) will undergo a "minimal procedure" on his left ankle soon, and he is expected to need three months to recover, according to multiple sources. Eifert initially injured the ankle in the Pro Bowl and initial estimates for his recovery were promising, but his ankle hasn't responded since.

Fantasy Tip: Even though the surgery isn't complicated, this injury could affect Eifert's availability for the regular season opener, and he could be slow out of the gates whenever he returns. Depending on how quickly he recovers and gets on the field, his status as a TE1 will suffer. Cincy's receiving depth took a hit in the offseason when Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones departed in free agency, so A.J. Green could see even more targets but also more double teams. Brandon LaFell and Brandon Tate could be relied on more to open the year, as well as Giovani Bernard in a pass-catching role out of the backfield.

Bengals | Cincinnati wants to keep Tyler Eifert

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 20:03:47 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert has exceeded all expectations, according to head coach Marvin Lewis, and beat writer Paul Dehner Jr. believes the Bengals will try to sign Eifert to a long-term extension in September of 2017.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert enters the 2016 season as the No. 2 option in Cincinnati's passing attack, and other than Rob Gronkowski, he has much upside as any tight end.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert's option picked up

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 11:54:46 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert had his 2017 option exercised Wednesday, April 13.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert really broke out in 2015 and is currently the Bengals' second best receiving option behind A.J. Green. Eifert could see even more targets in 2016 with Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu gone, too, and he's still an elite scoring option. If he stays healthy he should finish as a top fantasy tight end again.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert has sprain

Tue, 02 Feb 2016 14:14:40 -0800

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Benglas TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) suffered an ankle sprain in the 2016 Pro Bowl. He simply needs rest and will be fine for all offseason activities.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals can officially breathe a sigh of relief after a little bit of a scare from this year's Pro Bowl. Eifert is coming off a career year in which he scored 13 touchdowns. Eifert is comfortably in the TE1 conversation for next season's fantasy drafts.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert to have more tests

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 21:52:36 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (foot) did not suffer a break in his foot at the Pro Bowl Sunday, Jan. 31, but he is in a walking boot and plans to underdog furthet tests in Cincinnati to confirm he only has a bone bruise. He is likely to meet with a foot specialist when he returns to Cincinnati early this week.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert does not appear to have suffered a long-term injury which will affect him into training camp and the preseason. However, although it is just speculation, he could be forced to miss some time in organized team activities (OTAs) if he has a weeks-long injury.

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (concussion) returned from a two-game absence and caught four passes for 51 yards and a touchdown in a 24-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert picked up where he left off, and he finished the year with 13 touchdowns. He should be one of the best options at his position at FantasyScore in the postseason and a high-end TE1 next season.

Bengals | AJ McCarron, Tyler Eifert have full practice

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 13:20:16 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB AJ McCarron (wrist) and TE Tyler Eifert (concussion) were full participants in practice Thursday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Eifert ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) hasn't played in a couple weeks, so there could be a little bit of rust in the season finale. Plus, The Baltimore Ravens have only allowed two touchdowns to tight ends all season, so you may want to look elsewhere for your FantasyScore tight end. McCarron ($4,800, 9.6%) won't be 100%, but he should still start this weekend against the Ravens. There are better FantasyScore options at quarterback, though, unless you want to spend more at other positions.

Bengals | Tyler Eifert officially out

Sat, 26 Dec 2015 11:17:35 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (concussion) has officially been ruled out for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: It could be a tough go Monday night for the Bengals against the Denver Broncos without Andy Dalton and Eifert. Marvin Jones ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) and Mohamed Sanu ($2,000, 4.0%) may see more targets in Eifert's absence, but Jones is the more reliable option if you're looking for a non-A.J. Green Bengal.

Thu, 24 Dec 2015 09:20:38 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Eifert has already been ruled out for Week 16 against the Denver Broncos, so make sure he's removed from your lineups on championship weekend. Cincy and AJ McCarron could struggle to move the ball through the air against the top defense, so Giovani Bernard ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) could be gold on FantasyScore with plenty of checkdowns out of the backfield.
