Fri, 14 Jun 2013 09:56:15 -0700 New York Giants RB David Wilson's number of kickoff returns will be affected by his workload at running back, hinted special teams coordinator Tom Quinn. "We'll see how that all plays out," Quinn began. "Obviously, he would like to do it. He's done it very well, but we'll have to see how it all comes down with where he is on the depth chart and what he's doing on offense. It might be maybe for one or two or you don't need him for one or two, but we've got other guys that we feel good about. They feel good about the scheme and the system that's in place." Fantasy Tip: In other words, however much time Andre Brown earns over Wilson in the backfield affects however many kickoffs the Giants will feel that Wilson can handle. Fantasy owners, in most formats, would prefer to see the smallish Wilson participate on special teams less often, but that sounds unlikely unless he becomes the featured back -- which is unlikely. Still, he's obviously an intriguing RB2 or RB3.
Fri, 07 Jun 2013 15:00:00 -0700 New York Giants running backs coach Jerald Ingram said he believes RB David Wilson is in position to earn the starting running back job during training camp. "I think he's grown. He has a fairly good understanding of the offense right now. He's definitely in position to be the guy, but I think just like what we've done in the past here, we're going to be a rotation type team and what certain backs do best, we'll play. I think he's a playmaker. He's definitely going to contribute and help us out. There are some goals that he has to accomplish for us. He's definitely on a better track than he was a year ago in understanding our protections and doing those kinds of things," Ingram said. Wilson has attended every offseason workout this offseason.
Fri, 07 Jun 2013 11:21:15 -0700 New York Giants RB David Wilson said he is not concerned about splitting carries with RB Andre Brown in 2013. "I ain't worried about the carries, I'm not worried about yards, or who's got the most touchdowns. I'm just worried about both of us working together and being effective for the team and having a positive running game."
Thu, 16 May 2013 15:05:55 -0700 New York Giants RB Andre Brown could be poised to start in 2013. "This is my year," Brown said. "I have to go out there and I have to produce. I feel like this is a very important season and I have to go out there and show the world what Andre Brown is made of." Fantasy Tip: Brown will compete with David Wilson for the starting job in 2013, but the end result may be closer to a split in carries. Keep an eye on how the two running backs are used in training camp and preseason games to get a better idea of what the Giants plans are.
Thu, 16 May 2013 12:01:40 -0700 The New York Giants likely will continue to use RB David Wilson as their kick returner after being unable to sign Oakland Raiders WR Joshua Cribbs. It was believed Wilson would have his return duties reduced because he is expected to be the starting running back.
Sat, 11 May 2013 11:22:42 -0700 New York Giants special teams coordinator Tom Quinn said he believes RB David Wilson can still be a kick returner this season even though he is expected to be the starting running back. "With his expanded role (in the offense), we'll see where it leads," Quinn said. "He said he'd like to do both, but it all depends on the game and his carries and what his role is in the offense." Fantasy Tip: The team likely will look to decrease Wilson's return duties even if he wants to handle the role because he is expected to be the team's main runner. Wilson likely will be an every-week starter this season as long as he is healthy.
Thu, 25 Apr 2013 06:15:00 -0700 New York Giants RB David Wilson has improved his pass protection skills, according to running backs coach Jerald Ingram.
Thu, 21 Mar 2013 10:38:47 -0700 New York Giants RB David Wilson said he hopes to continue his role as the kick returner even if he wins the starting running back job.
Thu, 21 Mar 2013 10:28:59 -0700 New York Giants RB David Wilson said he does not expect the starting running back job to be handed to him and is ready to compete with the other running backs on the roster for the job. RBs Andre Brown, Ryan Torain and Da'Rel Scott are also expected to compete to playing time. Fantasy Tip: Wilson is the clear favorite to win the starting job and would be a starter each week if he does win the job. Brown is considered the favorite for the No. 2 RB job and could be a complementary back to Wilson. The roles for Torain and Scott are not known at this point, so their value is not easy to determine.
Thu, 21 Mar 2013 10:11:47 -0700 New York Giants RB David Wilson (hand) recently underwent minor hand surgery to remove a bone chip near his wrist. He said the surgery his not affected his offseason training. Fantasy Tip: It does not appear like the surgery will affect his availability for offseason workouts or training camp. Wilson likely will be an every week starter for owners in 2013.
