Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said he assured head coach Dennis Allen that his job was not in jeopardy despite reports that Allen was on the hot seat after the team lost eight of its final nine games to finish 4-12 for the second straight year. "It was not an issue with me. I understand how things kind of go in different directions when it gets toward the end of the season throughout the league when (people are) predicting who's going to be in, who's going to be out. I understood all that. But I wasn't going to play into that," McKenzie said.

Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis indicated Monday, Dec. 30, that no official decision has been made on the status of head coach Dennis Allen, but he gave every indication that Allen is likely to be back in 2014. General manager Reggie McKenzie is on even firmer ground, and it seems likely the GM is sticking with Allen, too.

Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen said he intends to stick with QB Matt McGloin as his starting quarterback for now in remarks made at his press conference on Friday, Nov. 29. However, Allen also wants to get another look at QB Terrelle Pryor before this season ends. It is all part of Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie gathering as much information as possible on their quarterback situation before they head into the offseason.

"We have to identify our core, and we're still trying to do that," McKenzie said. "And once we've settled on that, try to maintain it and build around it.
