Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict has dropped 15 pounds since the NFL Scouting Combine and reported to rookie minicamp at 248 pounds. Head coach Marvin Lewis said Burfict looked less winded during the two practices Friday, May 11, like he did during the combine and his Pro Day.

Bengals | Coach says Vontaze Burfict needs to be better player

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said LB Vontaze Burfict needs to work to improve his game and stop some of the things he did after the whistle in college. Lewis and the other coaches are not very fond on Burfict's lack of fundamentals lack of knee bend when playing. Lewis believes Burfict can be a good player if he is able to make the improvements.

Arizona State LB Vontaze Burfict said league officials haven't notified him of a failed drug test. "Nobody told me anything from the NFL," Burfict said. "I don't want to talk about it too much." According to an earlier report, NFL teams were informed this week of the failed test.

Arizona State LB Vontaze Burfict ran the 40-yard dash in 4.80 seconds at his Pro Day Friday, March 30, which is an improvement from the 5.09 seconds he posted at the NFL Scouting Combine. He also weighed in at 245 pounds with his down from the 260 he weighed at the combine.

Arizona State LB Vontaze Burfict measured 6-foot-1 3/4, 251 pounds at his Pro Day Friday, March 16. He ran the short shuttle in 4.68 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.42 seconds. He measured a 30-inch vertical jump and completed 16 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.
