Falcons | Mohamed Sanu working with teammates

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 15:44:47 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu is among a group of Falcons working together in Florida. QB Matt Ryan, RB Devonta Freeman and WR Julio Jones are also among the group of players, as reported earlier.

Fantasy Tip: This is a good decision by Sanu and the Falcons to get together before offseason activities start. It's an especially good move by the newly acquired Sanu, who can get a jumpstart on becoming familiar with his quarterback and his teammates. For now, Sanu is in WR4 territory as the Falcons' No. 2 wide receiver.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu to be No. 2 WR

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 21:36:07 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu will take over the No. 2 wideout job opposite WR Julio Jones. "Sanu is a legitimate No. 2 for us, is a great compliment to Julio Jones," general manager Thomas Dimitroff said in a satellite radio interview Monday, March 21.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu is the new Roddy White in Atlanta, and there is plenty of receptions, yardage and touchdowns despite the presence of Julio. Expect him to be a solid low-end WR2 or must-start WR3 or flex option into 2016.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu wasn't targeted often

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 12:39:03 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu was targeted on just 50 of the 383 routes he ran last year with the Cincinnati Bengals (13%), which was the fourth-lowest percentage in the NFL out of 133 players with at least 50 targets.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu was buried on Cincy's receiving depth chart during his time there, and he was often used on gimmick plays. That should change in Atlanta, where he'll be the No. 2 wideout opposite Julio Jones. Jones and a strong run game could take pressure off Sanu and allow him to put up WR numbers. But he's much safer as your No. 3.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu terms

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 11:36:31 -0800

Updating earlier reports, Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu agreed to a five-year, $32.5 million deal with $14 million fully guaranteed, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has WR2 potential in fantasy if he can find his niche in the talented offense.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu lands five years

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 11:30:21 -0800

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu agreed to a five-year deal with the Falcons, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu arrives in an attractive spot considering the amount of attention placed on Julio Jones and the success Devonta Freeman had running between the tackles last season. Sanu has WR2 potential in fantasy.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu to sign with Atlanta

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 14:41:30 -0800

Updating previous reports, free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu (Bengals) is visiting Atlanta to officially sign a deal worth $7 million per year with the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: As stated earlier, this move makes plenty of sense for the Falcons, who were in dire need of a wide receiver with the hole Roddy White left. Despite being in a relatively up-tempo offense, Sanu should not be regarded as more than a WR3.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu to visit Atlanta

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 13:26:22 -0800

Free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu (Bengals) will visit the Atlanta Falcons, who will try to sign him, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: This seems to be a pretty logical decision for the Falcons. Sanu is one of the best remaining free-agent wide receivers and Atlanta just released Roddy White, so a big need is there. If Sanu does ink with the Falcons, he's not more than a WR3 in the fantasy football world.

Falcons | Atlanta favorite for Mohamed Sanu

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 12:00:43 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu has been offered over $7 million per year from the Atlanta Falcons, who are favored to acquire Sanu.

Fantasy Tip: That's a good chunk of coin for a wide receiver who really has yet to prove himself in the NFL. The wide receiver market is fairly weak this year, though, and the Falcons have a big need at wide receiver after the release of Roddy White. If Sanu does end up in Atlanta, he shouldn't be considered more than a WR3.

Patriots | Two receivers have Pats' interest

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 06:04:46 -0800

Free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu (Bengals) and WR Rishard Matthews (Dolphins) have received interest from the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: The Pats rarely pay for wide receivers, and both figure to land lucrative deals in a weak WR market. They are both midrange wide receivers that could have upside in the right system.

Titans | Mohamed Sanu interests Titans

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 05:09:36 -0800

Free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu (Bengals) is drawing interest from the Tennessee Titans, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu will be a WR3 consideration in fantasy, but a larger role could allow him to reach WR2 status.

NFL | Three teams eyeing Mohamed Sanu

Mon, 22 Feb 2016 10:06:35 -0800

The Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants are all expected to express interest in Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu if he becomes available. Sanu had 33 catches for 394 yards and no touchdowns as his role diminished last year. He's seeking a larger role with a new team.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has been inconsistent in his career, but he has good body size to be an effective red zone weapon in the right offense. Stay tuned for where he lands in free agency, but he could be an undervalued late-round fantasy selection in 2016.

Browns | Cleveland eyeing Mohamed Sanu?

Sat, 20 Feb 2016 18:19:20 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu will likely be pursued by the Cleveland Browns. Head coach Hue Jackson loved his versatility while serving as the offensive coordinator for the Bengals, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Given Cleveland's lack of depth at the receiver position, Sanu would likely jump into a sizable role if he signs with Cleveland and could sneak into WR3 territory.

Bengals | Mohamed Sanu likely to bolt

Fri, 19 Feb 2016 06:37:30 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu has virtually no chance to re-sign with the Bengals, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu could be a sneaky WR3 in fantasy if he lands in an offense that spotlights him.

Giants | Mohamed Sanu of interest to Giants

Wed, 17 Feb 2016 15:27:05 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu is a topic of interest within the New York Giants organization, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu wouldn't be a bad fit with the Giants. Victor Cruz has dealt with more than his fair share of injuries over the years, and Rueben Randle hasn't really played up to his expectations. Mainly, Sanu would give the Giants another playmaker that would also fill in for Cruz if Cruz missed more time. For now, this is simply speculation, so don't make too much of it, but Sanu's value would be in the low-end WR3 to high-end WR4 range in New York.

Browns | Cleveland may pursue Cincinnati WRs

Mon, 15 Feb 2016 15:57:04 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WRs Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu may be pursued by the Cleveland Browns this offseason since head coach Hue Jackson worked with them when he coached with the Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Jones likely will be coveted by several teams this offseason, so the Browns may have to be part of a bidding war if they want to sign him. Sanu may be a more reasonable option for the team. The Browns do not have a solid plan at quarterback at this point, so fantasy value of Jones and Sanu could take a hit if they signed with the Browns.

Patriots | Bengals receivers of interest to Patriots?

Sat, 30 Jan 2016 11:40:05 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WRs Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu could be targets for the New England Patriots this offseason, in the opinion of ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. Reiss believes Jones' route-running ability would translate well in New England's offensive system, and that Sanu could draw interest as an alumnus of the Rutgers, a program for which the Patriots have high regard.

Fantasy Tip: Danny Amendola and Brandon LaFell have uncertain futures with the Patriots based on their 2016 contracts, as Reiss also notes, so they could definitely be in the wide receiver market this offseason. New England could also pursue the position through the draft, but Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman will remain their top two playmakers nonetheless.

Bengals | Free agency for three Bengals receivers

Tue, 26 Jan 2016 16:33:59 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WRs Marvin Jones, Mohamed Sanu and Brandon Tate are impending unrestricted free agents this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Jones will likely be the top free-agent priority, at least among their group of receivers, as he is coming off a career-high 816-yard season. Sanu has also shown flashes, but has not been as involved as Jones when Jones is healthy. Tate may be the odd man out and doesn't hold much fantasy value.

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 07:49:57 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu was on the field for 58 of 77 (75.3%) offensive snaps in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu caught two passes for 28 yards and ran once for six yards. He's a fringe matchup play and is best left for daily formats, like found on FantasyScore.com.

Bengals | Mohamed Sanu works in slot

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 18:36:40 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu entered practice Wednesday, Aug. 19, in the slot in a three-wide formation. It was the first time he worked in the formation during camp. WRs A.J. Green and Marvin Jones were the starters.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu is competing with Jones for the starting job opposite Green, but it appears he is behind in the race for the job and/or the team likes his skillset better out of the slot. He remains a decent WR4 or flex option in leagues of 12 or more fantasy teams.

Bengals | Mohamed Sanu in mix to start

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 18:01:46 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu is in the mix to start opposite WR A.J. Green, but with WR Marvin Jones (ankle, foot) healthy Sanu will have plenty of competition.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu is a player to monitor during training camp and the preseason. Cincinnati's offense, at least in terms of the wideouts, isn't a wide-open style where the top three or four wide receivers have fantasy appeal. If Sanu were to fall into the third wideout role he would have minimal appeal.

Bengals | Mohamed Sanu returns to practice

Thu, 27 Nov 2014 15:04:33 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu probably received a day off Wednesday, Nov. 26, and was able to return to practice. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had problems against wide receivers this season, which makes Sanu an option for owners on FantasyScore at $5,100.

Bengals | Mohamed Sanu misses practice

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 15:19:22 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu should be able to play in Week 13 since he is not dealing with an injury. Sanu has not put up terrific numbers over the last few weeks but did find the end zone in Week 12. Sanu costs $5,100 on FantasyScore and could be a good option against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Bengals | Mohamed Sanu makes big catch

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 10:10:13 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu caught a 48-yard pass in the first quarter of the team's Week 8 game.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has been playing well while A.J. Green has been out of the lineup. Sanu likely will continue to be a reliable target for the team even when Green returns and should be at least a weekly flex option for owners.

Bengals | Mohamed Sanu steps up game

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 17:26:39 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu posted a career-high 10 receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown in the Week 6 tie against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu stepped up his game with A.J. Green sidelined. With Green expected to sit again in Week 7, Sanu should be a solid WR2/3 or flex play for FantasyScore owners against the Indianapolis Colts.

Bengals | Cincy won't change offensive game plan

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 10:20:58 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) may not play in Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers, but offensive coordinator Hue Jackson refuses to change the game plan drastically if their receiving star doesn't play. "That's why I never put together a game plan based on one guy," said Jackson. "We're not going to crash our game plan. As a coordinator you just have to adapt. You never know what might happen." WR Mohamed Sanu is tied for the team lead with Green with 17 catches, and WR Dane Sanzenbacher can also be used.

Bengals | A.J. Green returns to practice

Thu, 18 Sep 2014 13:04:05 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) was back at practice Thursday, Sept. 18, and he hasn't ruled out the possibility of playing in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans. "If it's feeling good, then I'm going to go," Green said. "If it's not, then we'll go from there." Green lined up out wide and ran at a good pace during practice. He felt the injury all of last week during practice, and he wasn't able to get full extension when he ran in Week 2. Head coach Marvin Lewis expects Green to play against the Titans. If he doesn't play, WR Mohamed Sanu will replace him as the No. 1 receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Green will likely wind up being questionable and could be a game-time decision Sunday morning. It's a risk to put him in your FantasyScore starting lineups. Sanu, at $4,900, is a smart buy, even if Green suits up.

Bengals | A.J. Green has foot strain

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 07:56:10 -0700

Updating earlier reports, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (foot) has a strained ligament in his foot, as opposed to the original diagnosis of turf toe. It's unclear whether it's an aggravation of the injury that caused him to miss practice Thursday, Sept. 11, or if it's a new injury.

Fantasy Tip: Green's status for Week 3 is unclear. As previously stated, Mohamed Sanu's value rises to a good WR3 option for the upcoming week, even if Green plays.

Bengals | A.J. Green could miss time

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 06:57:25 -0700

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) doesn't have a significant injury and would likely return for Week 5 after the bye week if he's unable to play in Week 3. The injury was related to the injury that forced him to miss practice Thursday, Sept. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Mohamed Sanu's value is on the rise with the question mark on Green. He caught three balls for 84 yards and a touchdown in Week 2. He would make a decent flex option in Week 3, depending on his price on FantasyScore.

Bengals | Mohamed Sanu a multi-use weapon

Tue, 12 Aug 2014 08:36:50 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu has been impressive this preseason, and he can be used as a receiver, rusher or even occasional quarterback. Sanu has picked up the slack in the passing game in the absence of WR Marvin Jones (foot).

Fantasy Tip: The loss of Jones will make Sanu a little bit more intriguing early in the regular season, especially if he continues to be versatile on the field. In deep leagues, he's worth a speculative flier selection.

Bengals | Andrew Hawkins could become third option

Thu, 31 Oct 2013 08:50:36 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Andrew Hawkins, who was just activated from the Injured Reserve list, could become a third wide receiver option behind WRs A.J. Green and Marvin Jones in the team's Week 9 game Thursday, Oct. 31, against the Miami Dolphins with WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) questionable for the game. Hawkins was third on the team last year in receptions (51) and receiving yards (533).

Fantasy Tip: Hawkins is a player to keep an eye on in deep point-per-reception universes. The Bengals may bring him along slowly, but they'll surely utilize him when he's ready.

Wed, 30 Oct 2013 11:52:43 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to wait for the inactive list before finding out if Sanu will play in the game. If he does play, he probably would be a risky flex play in deeper leagues.

Bengals | Mohamed Sanu misses practice

Tue, 29 Oct 2013 13:15:07 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) missed his second straight day of practice Tuesday, Oct. 29. If he can't play in the team's Week 9 game Thursday, Oct. 31, against the Miami Dolphins, then WR Marvin Jones will replace him in two-receiver sets with WR Dane Sanzenbacher taking some snaps out of the slot position. WR Andrew Hawkins, who's expected to be activated to the active roster before the game, is another option.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu figures to be a weak play coming off injury on a short week. Jones, after his four-touchdown performance last weekend, is likely to be the hottest waiver wire commodity. Jones' snaps have been limited to mostly red zone duties, but he'll see more work if Sanu misses the game.

Bengals | Marvin Jones, Mohamed Sanu looking good

Wed, 31 Jul 2013 08:49:03 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu (foot) appears to be over a foot injury which required season-ending surgery last November. WR Marvin Jones has also impressed, showing good separation and speed in training camp.

Fantasy Tip: The two second-year receivers are on the rise. Sanu is expected to start opposite A.J. Green, and has big-play ability. Sanu is worth a look as a low-end WR3 or must-start WR4 or flex play because of his expected starting role, while Jones is worth a roll of the dice late on draft day for depth at the receiver spot.

Mon, 18 Mar 2013 06:52:15 -0700

The Cincinnati Bengals have been criticized for not pursuing a veteran wide receiver in free agency; however, head coach Marvin Lewis points to the development of WR Mohamed Sanu as a reason for standing pat. According to Lewis, Sanu is ahead of where former WR Chad Johnson was entering his second season in the NFL. "I'll go on record saying that," Lewis said. "That's the uneducated putting dumb thoughts in people's minds. It's why you have an opportunity to go after these guys and go get these guys. So you continue to make your team better. (It's) not a positive in making your team better when you keep adding old guys ... What did Randy Moss do (for the San Francisco 49ers) last year? He did nothing. He got in the way of a younger player performing."

Bengals | Mohamed Sanu out with fractured foot

Fri, 30 Nov 2012 09:42:01 -0800

Updating an earlier report, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said WR Mohamed Sanu (foot) could be out for the season after he suffered a stress fracture in his foot Thursday, Nov. 29. He'll have surgery Monday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Tough break for Sanu, who had four touchdowns in the last three games. Brandon Tate or Armon Binns will likely take Sanu's starting job, but we like Andrew Hawkins as Sanu's fantasy value beneficiary. His speed in the slot could be a weapon in the offense with defenses keying on A.J. Green and Jermaine Gresham. Gresham's fantasy value rises as well, as he becomes the second option in the passing game. Green's value stays about the same, with a potential slight hit if defenses double him and Gresham can't keep them honest.
