Seahawks | Bruce Irvin will be situational rusher

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll went the unconventional route once again with the selection of DE Bruce Irvin in the first round. Irvin was considered a second-day pick and the Seahawks passed on the likes of Quinton Coples, Melvin Ingram and Chandler Jones, who were all available when they took Irvin, a situational pass rusher. Carroll said Irvin is the type of player who puts fear in offensive tackles. He is expected to solely be a pass rush option to begin with, but Carroll and general manager John Schneider believe he can eventually develop into an every-down end.

The New England Patriots acquired the No. 21 pick overall in the NFL Draft from the Cincinnati Bengals, and they will select Syracuse DL Chandler Jones. The Patriots gave the Bengals the No. 27 pick overall, and a third round pick (No. 93 overall).
