Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan declined to name a starting quarterback for the Week 15 game against the Atlanta Falcons. QB Robert Griffin III was pulled during the Week 14 blowout against the Kansas City Chiefs, giving way to QB Kirk Cousins. "We'll talk about that later," Shanahan said Sunday, Dec. 8. "That's with anybody in any position. We'll look at injuries, we'll look at where we are and what direction we're going."

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan was ready to quit after the 2012 season because he did not like how owner Daniel Snyder made QB Robert Griffin III feel like he bigger than the team. Shanahan decided to stay with the team because he did not want people to think he quit because of Griffin's knee injury.

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III's father originally rebuffed head coach Mike Shanahan's attempts to reach out after Griffin's knee injury in January. Robert Griffin Jr. appreciated the gesture but felt Shanahan should worry more about coaching than building a stronger bond with Griffin III. Griffin Jr. took issue with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's play-calling, which they felt put Griffin III at further risk after his initial injury.

San Francisco 49ers LB Ahmad Brooks does not think Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III should be playing in games right now due to his knee injury from last season. "He's a man, he has the heart of a warrior and is going to go out there and play regardless of the circumstance," Brooks told CSN Washington. "Everybody can see it. Everybody can see it. He shouldn't be playing."

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III reportedly called the wrong protection play on the final play of the team's Week 11 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in which he threw an interception. Griffin said in post-game comments that "no one got open" during the play.
Fantasy Tip: RG3's leadership has come into question the last couple of weeks as he's dodged issues with taking responsibility for his mistakes on the field. Griffin has plenty of maturing to do. The good thing is that his knee appears to be fully healthy, which will keep his owners smiling.

Washington Redskins WR Santana Moss took exception to comments made by QB Robert Griffin III about the final play of the Week 11 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and his failure to take responsibility. "As a leader, you understand that if you're involved in the situation, whether you're the receiver, the quarterback, the guys making the tackle, whoever. Regardless of the outcome, good or bad, you have to at some point, stand up and say me or I," Moss said in a radio interview Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said opposing teams are trying to stop the pass first against them this year, with more seven-man boxes to help with downfield coverage. QB Robert Griffin III complained after their Week 11 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that it seemed as though they always knew what was coming in the passing game. "Our first year everyone played us with eight-man fronts, sometimes almost nine-man fronts," Shanahan said. "When you do that you have guys wide open like we did last year. That's one reason the play-action was so good. This year (teams are saying), 'We're playing you more passing and you have to earn the right in that run game.'"

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan disagreed with QB Robert Griffin III's comments that indicated the Philadelphia Eagles knew the Redskins' plays in Week 11. "Our first year everyone played us with eight-man fronts, sometimes almost nine-man fronts," Shanahan said. "When you do that you have guys wide open like we did last year. That's one reason the play-action was so good. This year (teams are saying), 'We're playing you more passing and you have to earn the right in that run game.' Which we've been able to do. You're not always going to get that deep ball so you have to dump it off and be patient. That's part of the NFL. No matter what quarterback you're going against, no matter what system you go against, you have to relate or adjust your game plan accordingly. That's one of the reasons we ran the ball so much against a team that was very good at stopping the run."
