Redskins | Robert Griffin likely to play

Wed, 24 Dec 2014 14:14:57 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (shoulder) is likely to play in Week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys despite dealing with a sprained right shoulder, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Griffin was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 24. "He can throw the ball, it's just a little sore," Gruden said. "We just want to make sure he doesn't aggravate it more, give him another couple days of rest and be ready to go Friday."

Fantasy Tip: Griffin ($5,555) should play in the season finale, but he doesn't inspire much confidence for your FantasyScore lineups, especially if he's not 100 percent facing the Dallas Cowboys.

Redskins | Robert Griffin limited

Wed, 24 Dec 2014 09:36:03 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (shoulder) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 24, because of a sprained shoulder. Head coach Jay Gruden said he does not believe Griffin's injury is serious.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should watch Griffin's practice participation during the week to see if the injury affects his Week 17 status. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use than Griffin.

Redskins | Redskins looking for wins from QB

Mon, 22 Dec 2014 10:39:18 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III was benched earlier in the season in part because head coach Jay Gruden is looking for a quarterback that could lead the team to wins. "That is the No. 1 factor, and that is it," Gruden said. "Obviously you look at the production and all that stuff, and what he could've done maybe, but winning football games is the only thing that matters to me for a quarterback. And it doesn't matter if they go 12-for-24 for 80 yards and we win, or if they go 28-for-35 for 400 [yards] and we lose, you'd rather have the 12-for-24. The ability to manage a game, stay away from the big turnovers and get the W is all that counts."

Fantasy Tip: Griffin will be starting in Week 17 after having a decent performance in Week 16. Griffin will be facing a tough Dallas Cowboys defense this week and may not be the best option for owners this week.

Redskins | Robert Griffin III earns praise

Sat, 20 Dec 2014 17:44:43 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III was praised by head coach Jay Gruden following the team's 27-24 win over the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday, Dec. 20. "He competed, man...I'm happy for Robert," Gruden said.

Fantasy Tip: Although Griffin was efficient, he threw for no touchdowns and an interception and ran for just 11 yards. He has a long way to go before becoming a QB1 option for fantasy owners.

Redskins | Colt McCoy not expected to play in Week 16

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 13:06:26 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (neck) is not expected to be active for the team's Week 16 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. As a result, QB Robert Griffin III is expected to receive the start against the Eagles. "He's got every chance this week against the Philadelphia Eagles to take this position and run with it," head coach Jay Gruden said.

Fantasy Tip: With McCoy likely out, Griffin could be a sleeper option as your starting QB at FantasyScore. Griffin showed flashes of his old self in the Week 15 loss, and the Eagles have been pretty generous to opposing QBs all season long.

Redskins | Robert Griffin expected to start

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 11:58:49 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III is expected to be the starting quarterback for Week 16, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin has struggled at times this season but will be facing a Philadelphia Eagles defense that has had problems with opposing quarterbacks this season. Griffin is a very risky option on FantasyScore at any price, but he could be a starting candidate for owners looking to save some money at the position if his price is low enough.

Redskins | 'Skins starting QB up in air

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 09:34:28 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III was 18-for-27 for 236 yards and a touchdown in the team's loss to the New York Giants in Week 15, and head coach Jay Gruden is unsure if Griffin will start again in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Gruden wants to watch film and learn more about QB Colt McCoy's (neck) injury. "(Griffin) is obviously in the mix," Gruden said. "He came out here and competed, which I liked. Made some good throws and made some great plays with his legs, but from a consistent standpoint, the production on third downs and the lack of production in the second half (offensively) was concerning. I'll have to check the film to give him a total grade." McCoy headed for the locker room after the first series of the game.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles present whoever is starting at QB for the Redskins with a golden chance to put up some big numbers, especially if Washington is forced to go to the air early and often. The Eagles have allowed the third most fantasy points per week to opposing QBs this year (19.76). Consider McCoy or Griffin to be a sleeper at FantasyScore this weekend.

Redskins | RG3 needs to transition to pocket passer

Fri, 12 Dec 2014 16:20:26 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III needs to do a better job working to become more of a pocket passer and improve his decisiveness on the football field. The team is hoping Griffin will buy into the fact that he needs to transition into more of a passer, and ESPN.com's John Keim gets the sense that the 'Skins want him to work less in the weight room and more in the film room. As Griffin has lost explosiveness due to injuries, opposing teams are defending him differently, blitzing him more and forcing him to be more decisive as a pocket passer.

Fantasy Tip: You can likely forget about using Griffin for the rest of the season at FantasyScore now that Colt McCoy (neck) avoided a serious injury. As for next season, the expectations for Griffin's fantasy value have dropped significantly, and you'll likely be able to snag him late in drafts as a backup QB with upside.

Redskins | Colt McCoy to start if healthy

Thu, 11 Dec 2014 10:34:07 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (neck) will start in Week 15 if he is cleared to play by the doctors, according to head coach Jay Gruden. QB Robert Griffin III likely would start if McCoy is not able to play.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy was able to do some things during practice Wednesday, Dec. 10, but the next few days will be important for his status. Both McCoy and Griffin cost $4,200 on FantasyScore, but owners should stay away from the Redskins starting quarterback this week.

Redskins | Colt McCoy's status in doubt

Tue, 09 Dec 2014 10:17:42 -0800

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (neck) has no structural damage to his neck, and his injury is not believed to be career-ending. However, there is doubt that he'll be able to play in Week 15 against the New York Giants. The team wants to see some range of motion and flexibility from McCoy as the week progresses. McCoy visited with a specialist Monday, Dec. 8. QB Robert Griffin III would start if McCoy is out against the Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Neither McCoy ($4,200) or Griffin ($4,200) would be comfortable quarterbacks to run with at FantasyScore this weekend, even if they are facing the Giants.
