Yankees | Several Yanks regulars resting Saturday

Sat, 21 May 2016 11:12:29 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann, OF Brett Gardner and SS Did Gregarious are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Sean Manaea Saturday, May 21. OF Aaron Hicks will bat sixth and play left field, 2B/OF Rob Refsnyder will play right field and bat seventh and C Austin Romine will start behind the plate and bat eighth. In addition, 3B Chase Headley is back in the starting lineup to play the hot corner and will bat fifth, while INF Ronald Torreyes bats ninth and plays shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Of the replacements, Refsnyder is the player with the most offensive upside for DFS purposes. The 25-year-old hit .302 with two home runs and five RBI in 43 at-bats last season and was hitting .293 through 34 games for Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this year.

Yankees | Chase Headley not in the lineup

Sun, 15 May 2016 08:30:11 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez Sunday, May 15. 3B Ronald Torreyes will start at third base and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Torreyes has only two hits in his last eight games and probably can be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Yankees | No Didi Gregorius vs. White Sox

Fri, 13 May 2016 12:58:16 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 13. SS Ronald Torreyes is starting at shortstop and batting ninth against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Gregorius has an underwhelming .221/.241/.356 slash line to start the season, and at this point, his ownership should be limited to cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Torreyes is a career .316 hitter, but he is still nothing more than a desperation start in all fantasy formats facing Sale Friday.

Yankees | Starlin Castro out vs. Royals

Mon, 09 May 2016 12:41:23 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro (rib cage) is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 9. 3B Ronald Torreyes is starting at second base and batting ninth against Kansas City Royals SP Chris Young Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Castro left the game Sunday, May 8, after tweaking his rib cage diving into third base. The injury isn't expected to be serious, but you'll want to replace him where you can in seasonal lineups and even consider benching him in weekly leagues. Torreyes is 11-for-35 during his career and could be a potential low-priced flier for daily contests Monday. He is also a viable depth option for AL-only leagues.

Yankees | Chase Headley out again

Fri, 06 May 2016 13:59:51 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day Friday, May 6. 3B Ronald Torreyes is starting at the hot corner and is batting ninth against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello.

Fantasy Tip: With Headley hitting only .151 with no home runs this year, we could see more of this in the future. That limits his fantasy value strictly to AL-only leagues for the time being. Torreyes doesn't move the fantasy needle much, either, and is a desperation dart throw in daily leagues.

Yankees | Brett Gardner, Chase Headley sitting

Thu, 05 May 2016 12:52:52 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner and 3B Chase Headley are not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 5. OF Aaron Hicks is starting in left field and batting seventh, while 2B Ronald Torreyes is at the hot corner and is hitting ninth against Baltimore Orioles SP Kevin Gausman. 2B Starlin Castro moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner and Headley are really struggling right now and could see more bench time in the near future while the Yanks look to get going offensively. Downgrade them both in deep mixed and AL leagues. Hicks and Torreyes don't move the needle much for daily gamers, while Castro's value receives a slight boost with the move up the lineup.

Yankees | Didi Gregorius out Sunday

Sun, 01 May 2016 16:01:42 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius is not starting Sunday, May 1, against the Boston Red Sox. SS Ronald Torreyes is in the lineup and will bat eighth against Red Sox SP David Price.

Fantasy Tip: With Price pitching for the Red Sox, Gregorius will take a seat and avoid the lefty vs. lefty matchup. Torreyes has no batting average against Price, so for the moment he has little fantasy value.

Yankees | No Didi Gregorius Wednesday

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 14:39:52 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius is not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers left-handed SP Martin Perez Wednesday, April 27. 2B Ronald Torreyes is starting at the 6 and is hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Torreyes has eight hits in 17 at-bats (.471) in backup duty this year. While that's impressive, it's a small sample size and shouldn't influence your decision to choose Torreyes in daily games while hitting at the bottom of New York's lineup.

Yankees | Chase Headley not in lineup

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 15:15:38 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley (rest) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 26, opposite Texas Rangers SP A.J. Griffin. 3B Ronald Torreyes gets the start in his place.

Fantasy Tip: It's just a routine day off for the former RBI champion. Meanwhile, Torreyes is probably one of the last people in all of Major League Baseball to even be considered for a spot on fantasy rosters in any format. He has zero upside in his current situation.

Yankees | Brian McCann, Didi Gregorius resting

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 12:27:56 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann and SS Didi Gregorius are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics left-handed SP Rich Hill Thursday, April 21. C Austin Romine is doing the catching and hitting eighth, while 3B Ronald Torreyes is at the keystone and batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Torreyes has produced with the bat in limited opportunities this year (6-for-12 with a double and triple), but he'll remain a low-end middle infield commodity in daily formats Thursday. Romine is nothing more than a desperation source of salary cap relief.
