Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller carried 17 times for 53 yards and caught two passes for seven yards in a 26-16 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14.

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed 10 times for 57 yards in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts while adding three grabs for 34 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: Miller totaled just 13 touches, perhaps limited due to the knee injury which kept him on the sidelines at times during practice this week. He remains a decent RB2 heading into Week 10 against the Rams.

Texans | Lamar Miller limited

Thu, 02 Nov 2017 13:27:12 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Miller probably has a solid chance to play this week, but owners will have a better idea of his status later in the week. He has received at least 15 carries in six of his last seven games and has also been involved in the passing game. He can be a No. 2 fantasy back this week against the Indianapolis Colts.

Texans | Lamar Miller limited in practice

Wed, 01 Nov 2017 14:26:19 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Miller scored a pair of touchdowns in Week 8 against the Seahawks and there wasn't any report of an injury after the game. It's likely the normal dings and bruises that happen at this time of the year. Circle back around on Friday when the official injury report comes out. If he is healthy and ready for Week 9 against the Colts, he faces a very favorable matchup for fantasy owners.

Texans | Lamar Miller scores pair of TDs

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 19:02:59 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed 21 times for 54 yards and a touchdown in Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks, and he added three grabs for 19 yards and a score.

Fantasy Tip: After failing to find the end zone in his first three games, Miller has two multi-score games over his past four starts. He has been a low-end RB2 performers in most standard leagues and a solid RB2 in all PPR formats. Miller should have another nice stat line in Week 9 against the skidding Colts.

Texans | Lamar Miller quiet in Week 6

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 14:45:05 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed 15 times for 41 yards in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns while adding three receptions for 40 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: The total yardage was nice, but he had just 2.7 yards per rush to 4.9 yards per tote for D'Onta Foreman. Miller was used slightly less in the second half with the game out of hand, too. The team is off in Week 7 for its bye.

Texans | Lamar Miller wants big plays

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 21:51:59 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller said he feels he has room for improvement and needs to start breaking longer runs. "I feel like, me personally, I got to break some more runs, long runs," Miller said. "I don't think I've got a 20-yard run yet."

Fantasy Tip: While Miller's longest run of the year is just 19 yards, he is averaging 93.2 total yards and 19 touches per game. Expect volume-based RB2 production against the Cleveland Browns in Week 6.

Texans | Lamar Miller has 75 rushing yards

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 14:20:03 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller ran 19 times for 75 yards and scored one touchdown Sunday, Oct. 1, in a 57-14 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Miller cracked the 65-yard mark, which he had not done in the first three games of the season. This is a decent performance for Miller, but he could come back down to earth a bit in Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Texans | Lamar Miller rushes for 56 yards

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 14:25:31 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller rushed for 56 yards on 14 carries against the New England Patriots in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Miller has been fairly consistent over the first three weeks of the season but has not rushed for more than 65 yards in any of the games. He should continue to receive most of the carries at this time but may only be a flex option against the Tennessee Titans.

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 18:27:21 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller carried 17 times for 65 yards and caught two passes for 31 yards in a 29-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Miller managed a decent game despite a horrible showing from the Houston offense. He remains the unquestioned feature back, and he should be a volume-based RB2 against Cincinnati in Week 2.

Texans | Lamar Miller struggled with efficiency in '16

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 19:01:52 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller finished in the bottom eight of 42 qualifying running backs in 2016 for fantasy efficiency in five of six measured categories. Among running backs with at least 120 offensive touches, he ranked 35th or worse in fantasy points per game (36th), touchdown efficiency (36th), yards per touch (35th), standard fantasy points per touch (38th), and PPR fantasy points per touch (39th). Miller finished 18th in PPR points per game.

Fantasy Tip: He was overused and is better suited for situational duty, which may be the course of action with D'Onta Foreman impressing through a pair of preseason games. The veteran Miller needs to be kept fresh for a playoff push. Even still, gamers can rely on him as a No. 2 back in most setups.

Texans | Houston wants to keep Lamar Miller fresh

Wed, 21 Jun 2017 11:22:00 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller received 268 carries in 2016 but likely will see a drop in his carries this season so the team could keep him fresher later in the season. Running backs coach Charles London said the team has a diverse group of running backs, which will allow the team to balance Miller's workload.

Fantasy Tip: Miller finished in the top 10 in rushing with 1,073 yards and his 268 carries ranked sixth among running backs in 2016. He probably will lose some work to Alfred Blue and D'Onta Foreman this season but will continue to be the main focus in the running game. Owners in most leagues should consider Miller a low-end No. 1 fantasy running back.

Texans | Houston wants to manage Lamar Miller better

Sat, 06 May 2017 17:30:56 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller carried a career-high 268 times for 1,073 yards and five touchdowns in 2016. While head coach Bill O'Brien won't rule out a repeat performance, he acknowledged during the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine the team wants to be smart about managing his workload, especially early in the season. "I think he probably carried it a little bit too much early on. We were very, very dependent on him because he's that type of player. He's a guy that shows up every day, he's in excellent condition, plays through pain. Had an ankle, shoulder, ribs played through all of it, practiced through all of it. He's what you're looking for when you talk about a teammate and a guy in your locker room," O'Brien said.

Fantasy Tip: There is speculation Miller might slip into more of a lead-back role than remain a featured back in 2017 with the arrival of third rounder D'Onta Foreman. The smarter money is Foreman will take over Alfred Blue's old role and steal around 10 touches per game through the season's first month before Miller takes over as the bell-cow. Miller should remain a low-end RB1 for fantasy purposes.

Texans | Lighter load for Lamar Miller?

Sat, 04 Mar 2017 21:47:12 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller will likely see fewer carries, especially early in the year, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. "We feel like we have a pretty diverse group of running backs so I think in order to get him at his best in January, we probably need to cut down on that early in the year," O'Brien said.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Miller loses a few touches over the course of the year, he should still be the workhorse in Houston's backfield and a borderline RB1.

Texans | Lamar Miller handles another heavy load

Sat, 14 Jan 2017 21:15:28 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller ran for 73 yards on 19 carries and added 16 yards receiving on four catches in a Divisional Round loss to the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: It's about the kind of line we've come to expect this season from Miller, who got exactly what he wanted in terms of workload this season but rarely got much of a chance to show off his explosiveness as defenses typically loaded the box and dared Houston to throw. Miller could emerge as the RB1 he could have been this season in 2017, but the Texans need better quarterbacking and some improvements on the offensive line if that is going to happen.

Texans | No setbacks for Lamar Miller

Sun, 08 Jan 2017 09:57:09 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) said his ankle felt good during the Wild Card playing game and did not have any setbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Miller received 31 carries during the game, so it appears like he is healthy after missing the last two regular season games. He will be facing a tough defense in the Divisional Round playoff game but can still be a No. 1 or No. 2 running back in fantasy leagues.

Texans | Lamar Miller returns to heavy workload

Sat, 07 Jan 2017 16:59:09 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller returned from a two-week absence due to an ankle injury and carried 31 times for 73 yards and a touchdown in a Wild Card playoff win over the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Miller scored from four yards out midway through the first quarter and also busted loose for an 18-yard run, but Houston's offensive line did him very few favors otherwise. With a likely date in Foxboro against the New England Patriots next weekend, Miller will be no more than a RB2.

Texans | Lamar Miller on track to play

Fri, 06 Jan 2017 14:17:45 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 6, and is not on the injury report for the Wild Card game against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Miller should see plenty of work in the playoff game because of the team's quarterback situation. Miller sat out the last two regular season games to allow his ankle to heal but did have a touchdown in his last two games played. Miller should be considered a No. 1 or No. 2 running back in all fantasy leagues.

Texans | Full practice for Lamar Miller

Thu, 05 Jan 2017 17:14:54 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Jan. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Miller should be ready to roll after sitting out the final two regular season games, and the ball should be in his hands early and often against Oakland. He should have one of the higher floors among running backs in play this weekend.

Texans | Lamar Miller practices in full

Wed, 04 Jan 2017 14:13:22 -0800

Houston Texans WR Lamar Miller (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Jan. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Miller appears to be on track to play in the Wild Card playoff game against the Oakland Raiders after missing the previous two games because of his ankle injury. Miller should receive most of the work at running back and can be a starting back in all fantasy leagues.

Texans | Lamar Miller ready for playoffs

Tue, 03 Jan 2017 15:11:03 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) feels rejuvenated and ready to go against the Oakland Raiders this weekend after sitting out the last two games of the regular season. "I think [the break] helped me out a lot," Miller said. "I feel fresh right now. I feel good. Missing my first two games [of the season], it was kind of tough. It was different for me, but I'm happy I'm back and I'm looking forward to helping this team."

Fantasy Tip: For those in fantasy playoff leagues, Miller is one of the best options for the first round of postseason action. He faces an Oakland Raiders defense that surrendered 141.6 total yards per game and 18 total touchdowns to running backs in the regular season. Miller should also be considered a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 for next season.

Texans | Lamar Miller 'set to return' in playoffs

Mon, 02 Jan 2017 21:25:55 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) is "set to return" for the team's AFC Wild Card postseason game Saturday, Jan. 7, versus the Oakland Raiders. He has been running and has made steady progress in his recovery after missing the final two games of the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Even with Houston's uncertainty under center, Miller should be a good option to deploy in fantasy at running back if he indeed suits up, which looks very likely now. It's also possible that the Texans continue to implement backup running back Alfred Blue a bit more than usual, but even so, Miller will get plenty of work, with Houston trusting him far more than their inconsistent quarterbacks.

Texans | Lamar Miller ruled out for season finale

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 14:54:08 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) has been ruled out for the team's Week 17 finale Sunday, Jan. 1, against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: No surprise here, as Miller also missed the team's Week 16 contest before sitting out a full week's worth of practices. With the Texans already in the playoffs, there is really no reason to force him into action. While he's out resting his ankle, Alfred Blue will once again step in and should garner RB2/FLEX consideration this weekend.

Texans | Lamar Miller sits out again

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 11:34:15 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) is not participating in practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Fantasy Tip: The Texans have a playoff spot wrapped up, so there is a good chance that Miller receives another week off to rest his ankle. Owners probably should avoid Miller this week because he likely would see limited work if he is active for Week 17. Alfred Blue would receive most of the work if Miller sits and can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option.

Texans | Lamar Miller not on the field

Wed, 28 Dec 2016 11:39:03 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Tip: There is a good chance that Miller sits out again in order to be ready for the playoffs. Owners should check on his status later in the week to see if he will play. He would be a risky option if he plays since he could receive limited snaps. Alfred Blue would receive the start if Miller sits and would be a fine No. 2 running back.

Texans | Lamar Miller feeling better

Mon, 26 Dec 2016 15:43:48 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) is feeling better after sitting out Week 16 because of an ankle injury, but head coach Bill O'Brien said he is not sure if Miller will play in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should keep an eye on Miller's practice participation this week to see if he has a chance to play in Week 17. He may receive limited playing time even if he plays and would be a risky option for owners. Alfred Blue played well in place of Miller in Week 16 and can be at least a flex option in leagues if he starts.

Texans | Lamar Miller unsure of status for finale

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 12:58:26 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) said he is not sure if he will play in Week 17 since the team has already clinched a playoff spot. He said he is not dealing with a long-term injury and probably could play if he was needed.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should keep an eye on the situation because there is a decent chance the Texans decide to hold Miller out for one more week. Alfred Blue rushed for 73 yards and one touchdown in Week 16 and would be a No. 2 running back or a flex option if Miller sits out.

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 07:25:08 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) appears unlikely to play in Week 16's game against the Cincinnati Bengals but is expected to return to action in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Miller did not participate at all in practice this week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Alfred Blue is likely to see the majority of the snaps at running back versus the Bengals but he is only worthy of consideration as a flex option in deeper fantasy formats.

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 23, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) is listed as questionable to play in the team's Week 16 game Saturday, Dec. 24, versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Yikes, this is a pretty difficult situation for fantasy owners, with Houston slated to play after most other teams this weekend. Considering Miller hasn't practiced all week, he appears to be a true game-time decision, so owners should certainly rush to the waiver wire for Alfred Blue's services as a handcuff if he's available, just in case. Of course, considering Miller hasn't missed a game since his rookie season in 2012, there's still hope the former Dolphin suits up.

Fantasy Tip: Miller's status for Week 16 is uncertain at this point, but owners should know more later in the week. He should be considered a No. 2 running back if he plays, but owners will need other options ready to go if Miller is ruled out.

Texans | Lamar Miller misses practice

Wed, 21 Dec 2016 17:09:13 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Miller suffered the injury late in last week's game, so his status for Week 16 was uncertain at this point. He has received at least 15 carries in six of the last seven games and has four touchdowns during that span. He should be considered a No. 2 running back if he is able to play.
