Texans | Lamar Miller logs 96 total yards

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 18:27:21 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller carried 17 times for 65 yards and caught two passes for 31 yards in a 29-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Miller managed a decent game despite a horrible showing from the Houston offense. He remains the unquestioned feature back, and he should be a volume-based RB2 against Cincinnati in Week 2.

Texans | Lamar Miller struggled with efficiency in '16

Tue, 22 Aug 2017 19:01:52 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller finished in the bottom eight of 42 qualifying running backs in 2016 for fantasy efficiency in five of six measured categories. Among running backs with at least 120 offensive touches, he ranked 35th or worse in fantasy points per game (36th), touchdown efficiency (36th), yards per touch (35th), standard fantasy points per touch (38th), and PPR fantasy points per touch (39th). Miller finished 18th in PPR points per game.

Fantasy Tip: He was overused and is better suited for situational duty, which may be the course of action with D'Onta Foreman impressing through a pair of preseason games. The veteran Miller needs to be kept fresh for a playoff push. Even still, gamers can rely on him as a No. 2 back in most setups.

Texans | Houston wants to keep Lamar Miller fresh

Wed, 21 Jun 2017 11:22:00 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller received 268 carries in 2016 but likely will see a drop in his carries this season so the team could keep him fresher later in the season. Running backs coach Charles London said the team has a diverse group of running backs, which will allow the team to balance Miller's workload.

Fantasy Tip: Miller finished in the top 10 in rushing with 1,073 yards and his 268 carries ranked sixth among running backs in 2016. He probably will lose some work to Alfred Blue and D'Onta Foreman this season but will continue to be the main focus in the running game. Owners in most leagues should consider Miller a low-end No. 1 fantasy running back.

Texans | Houston wants to manage Lamar Miller better

Sat, 06 May 2017 17:30:56 -0700

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller carried a career-high 268 times for 1,073 yards and five touchdowns in 2016. While head coach Bill O'Brien won't rule out a repeat performance, he acknowledged during the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine the team wants to be smart about managing his workload, especially early in the season. "I think he probably carried it a little bit too much early on. We were very, very dependent on him because he's that type of player. He's a guy that shows up every day, he's in excellent condition, plays through pain. Had an ankle, shoulder, ribs played through all of it, practiced through all of it. He's what you're looking for when you talk about a teammate and a guy in your locker room," O'Brien said.

Fantasy Tip: There is speculation Miller might slip into more of a lead-back role than remain a featured back in 2017 with the arrival of third rounder D'Onta Foreman. The smarter money is Foreman will take over Alfred Blue's old role and steal around 10 touches per game through the season's first month before Miller takes over as the bell-cow. Miller should remain a low-end RB1 for fantasy purposes.

Texans | Lighter load for Lamar Miller?

Sat, 04 Mar 2017 21:47:12 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller will likely see fewer carries, especially early in the year, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. "We feel like we have a pretty diverse group of running backs so I think in order to get him at his best in January, we probably need to cut down on that early in the year," O'Brien said.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Miller loses a few touches over the course of the year, he should still be the workhorse in Houston's backfield and a borderline RB1.

Texans | Lamar Miller handles another heavy load

Sat, 14 Jan 2017 21:15:28 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller ran for 73 yards on 19 carries and added 16 yards receiving on four catches in a Divisional Round loss to the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: It's about the kind of line we've come to expect this season from Miller, who got exactly what he wanted in terms of workload this season but rarely got much of a chance to show off his explosiveness as defenses typically loaded the box and dared Houston to throw. Miller could emerge as the RB1 he could have been this season in 2017, but the Texans need better quarterbacking and some improvements on the offensive line if that is going to happen.

Texans | No setbacks for Lamar Miller

Sun, 08 Jan 2017 09:57:09 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) said his ankle felt good during the Wild Card playing game and did not have any setbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Miller received 31 carries during the game, so it appears like he is healthy after missing the last two regular season games. He will be facing a tough defense in the Divisional Round playoff game but can still be a No. 1 or No. 2 running back in fantasy leagues.

Texans | Lamar Miller returns to heavy workload

Sat, 07 Jan 2017 16:59:09 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller returned from a two-week absence due to an ankle injury and carried 31 times for 73 yards and a touchdown in a Wild Card playoff win over the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Miller scored from four yards out midway through the first quarter and also busted loose for an 18-yard run, but Houston's offensive line did him very few favors otherwise. With a likely date in Foxboro against the New England Patriots next weekend, Miller will be no more than a RB2.

Texans | Lamar Miller on track to play

Fri, 06 Jan 2017 14:17:45 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 6, and is not on the injury report for the Wild Card game against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Miller should see plenty of work in the playoff game because of the team's quarterback situation. Miller sat out the last two regular season games to allow his ankle to heal but did have a touchdown in his last two games played. Miller should be considered a No. 1 or No. 2 running back in all fantasy leagues.

Texans | Full practice for Lamar Miller

Thu, 05 Jan 2017 17:14:54 -0800

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Jan. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Miller should be ready to roll after sitting out the final two regular season games, and the ball should be in his hands early and often against Oakland. He should have one of the higher floors among running backs in play this weekend.
