Baltimore Orioles OF Henry Urrutia (leg) has been cleared to play this season. The Cuban outfielder has had all of his paperwork submitted and approved. The team must decide where to assign Urrutia, who remains at extended spring training. He has been battling a "leg issue," according to manager Buck Showalter, and that has been preventing him from playing. The team wanted him to play at Double-A Bowie last summer, but he was detained in Haiti while waiting for his work visa.

Baltimore Orioles OF Henry Urrutia is in camp and is expected to report in a day or two after have problems with his visa. He's expected to be assigned to minor league camp.

However, it's unclear if he'll be ready to join the team in time for spring training. Urrutia is expected to need time in the minors, and he's projected to start at Class AA.

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Orioles OF Henry Urrutia is still unable to enter the United States because of visa issues. The 25-year-old native of Cuba has declared residence in Haiti and executive director of international scouting Fred Ferreira is hopeful that he will be able to report soon to Sarasota, Fla.

Baltimore Orioles executive director of international recruiting Fred Ferreira said the team believes OF Henry Urrutia will be able to move through the minor league system fast and that he could join the team in September. Urrutia is expected to begin with Double-A Bowie.

The Baltimore Orioles agreed to terms with Cuban free-agent OF Henry Urrutia on a minor-league deal Wednesday, July 11, according to a club source. Urrutia received a signing bonus of $778,500. Executive vice president Dan Duquette said the team hasn't officially signed Urrutia, but he said the player was taking a physical.

The Toronto Blue Jays worked out Cuban OF Jorge Soler in the Dominican Republic Wednesday, Feb. 15, along with Cuban P Armando Rivero, OF Henry Urrutia and P Omar Luis. The Baltimore Orioles are expected to visit with Soler Sunday, Feb. 19. The New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs are other interested parties.
