Brewers | Consistency the key for Scooter Gennett

Mon, 18 May 2015 14:23:07 -0700

Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett was sent to Class AAA Colorado Springs (Colo.) to show more consistency, and then he will be recalled, according to general manager Doug Melvin. However, Melvin did not provide a concrete timeline.

Fantasy Tip: Gennett is safe to drop in the majority of seasonal leagues. Elian Herrera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) projects to receive the majority of starts at second with Luis Sardinas holding down shortstop until Jean Segura (finger) returns. Herrera is nothing more than a low-priced flier for FantasyScore players, and he has fleeting NL-only value.

Brewers | Scooter Gennett sent down

Mon, 18 May 2015 07:26:14 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett was optioned to Class AAA Colorado Springs (Colo.) Monday, May 18.

Fantasy Tip: Elian Herrera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is likely to stay in the fold at second with Luis Sardinas holding down shortstop until Jean Segura (finger) returns. Herrera doesn't hit well enough to have much FantasyScore appeal but does have four home runs. Sardinas needs more at-bats before we pull the trigger for our lineup.

Brewers | Jean Segura scratched Wednesday

Wed, 13 May 2015 15:37:49 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SS Jean Segura (finger) was scratched from the starting lineup Wednesday, May 13, due to soreness in his right pinkie finger. 2B Scooter Gennett will now play second base, with 2B Hector Gomez starting at shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Gennett ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) and Gomez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) are merely low-end second base plays tonight against Chicago White Sox starter Jose Quintana. Gennett doesn't have a hit against a left-hander in seven at-bats this season.

Brewers | Khris Davis back in two-hole

Wed, 13 May 2015 11:47:58 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Khris Davis is hitting second in the batting order for the second straight day against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Wednesday, May 13, with 2B Scooter Gennett not playing.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is starting to show signs of life after a slow start in April. He's 9-for-20 (.450) with two home runs, seven RBI and a 1.422 OPS since May 7. The fact that he's struggled against southpaws this year (.154/.154/.346) could make him even more of a value play at FantasyScore as a contrarian option today.

Brewers | Scooter Gennett moved to five-hole

Mon, 11 May 2015 13:25:09 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett is batting fifth against the Chicago White Sox Monday, May 11.

Fantasy Tip: Gennett ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is struggling in the early season, and he has also missed time with a hand injury. Batting fifth doesn't stand to have a significant impact on his fantasy value, outside of providing him with more RBI opportunities than when he was hitting closer to the top of the order. It certainly is better than batting lower in the lineup, though, which is where he has spent some time over the past two seasons. Still, until Gennett starts to string together some solid games, he is nothing more than a low-priced flier for FantasyScore contests.

Brewers | Scooter Gennett out Saturday

Sat, 09 May 2015 14:27:33 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett is out of the starting lineup Saturday, May 9, against the Chicago Cubs. Gennett recently returned from a hand injury, and is likely being given an extra rest day as he works himself back. 2B Hector Gomez will start at second base and hit second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has a batting average of .244 and an on-base percentage of .279 through 45 plate appearances, with one home run, six runs scored and five RBI. Due to the low on-base percentage, the two-hole is an odd spot to see Gomez. FantasyScore owners should be looking elsewhere.

Brewers | Scooter Gennett back in lineup

Tue, 05 May 2015 13:34:03 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett (hand) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting sixth in the batting order Tuesday, May 5, after being activated from the 15-day disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Gennett ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is available again at FantasyScore, but it wouldn't be wise to throw him into your lineups immediately tonight, especially since he's facing Los Angeles Dodgers starter Zack Greinke.

Brewers | Scooter Gennett back from DL

Tue, 05 May 2015 11:22:46 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett (hand) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, May 5, and OF Logan Schafer was optioned to Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Gennett ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) should immediately return to a starting role at second base, and it is another boost to the Brewers' weak-hitting lineup to start the 2015 season. They also got Carlos Gomez back over the weekend. Gennett profiles as a midrange second base option at FantasyScore most days.

Brewers | Scooter Gennett to begin rehab

Fri, 01 May 2015 16:50:16 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett (hand) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Class A Wisconsin Friday, May 1. He has been on the 15-day disabled list due to a hand laceration.

Fantasy Tip: Gennett had his stitches removed earlier this week. It's uncertain how long Gennett will be sidelined, but FantasyScore owners should avoid him at $2,600 (or 5.2% of cap) until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without setbacks.

Brewers | Scooter Gennett to get stitches out

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 19:09:02 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett (hand) is expected to get the five stitches in his left hand removed Wednesday, April 29. He was injured in a shower mishap forcing him to the 15-day disabled list April 21.

Fantasy Tip: Avoid Gennett until he can officially return and prove his health in at least one full game without any setbacks. Hector Gomez ($1,600; 3.2% of cap) held down the fort at second base Tuesday in Gennett's absence.
