Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said he'll continue to use a platoon at second base between 2Bs Scooter Gennett and Rickie Weeks until one player gets hot and separates himself.

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks has made some mechanical adjustment to his stance this swing, and manager Ron Roenicke is loving the early returns in camp. Weeks had consistently kept his hands low in his stance, but now, he's altered the position of his hands after input from former minor league hitting coach Nate Oliver. "Keeping things smooth, really," Weeks said when asked to describe the tweak. "If you keep it smooth, everything kind of falls into place. The biggest thing is slowing down. My hands are a tad bit higher. It's a minute (difference)."
He's gone 4-for-9 with a home run and four walks in his first four spring games and is feeling great at the dish. He's also in the final year of his contract and is in a battle for playing time at second base with 2B Scooter Gennett. The Brewers are saying the keystone is an open competition. Milwaukee may decide to trade one of their second baseman later in camp, or they could go with a platoon.

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks and Scooter Gennett are set for an open competition at second base this spring. Weeks is a full go after rehab following surgery last year for a hamstring injury. "The only setback I probably had was I started out too early, too fast. You know me -- I wanted to go out there and run right off," Weeks said. Manager Ron Roenicke could see a scenario where both players see playing time, especially during interleague series.
Fantasy Tip: Gennett is believed to have a leg up in the competition; Weeks will really have to prove he's healthy in order to have a shot. In the long run, neither is very attractive in mixed formats, but the winner could be worthy of an NL-only spot as middle infield depth.

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks (hamstring) underwent successful surgery on his left hamstring Thursday, Aug. 15, and he'll need four to six months of rehab.
Fantasy Tip: Scooter Gennett has taken over at second base for Weeks and should be considered in cavernous mixed formats for middle infield depth.

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks (hamstring) is expected to undergo surgery on his hamstring and miss the rest of the year.
Fantasy Tip: This boosts Scooter Gennett's NL-only league value for the remainder of the year. Weeks can be dumped in all formats.

The Milwaukee Brewers placed 2B Rickie Weeks (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring Thursday, Aug. 8, and they'll recall 2B Scooter Gennett from the minors Friday, Aug. 9.
Fantasy Tip: Expect Gennett to see most of the PT at the keystone in Weeks' absence. Pick up Gennett if you're hurting for middle infielders in NL-only leagues.

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks (hamstring) will head for an MRI exam on his left hamstring, and he's likely to land on the disabled list. Weeks is hitting only .209 with 10 home runs and 24 RBIs this year.
Fantasy Tip: Jeff Bianchi filled in at the keystone last night and will likely do so again today. Scooter Gennett, who was just sent to the minors recently, will likely be recalled if Weeks lands on the DL. Gennett would likely start regularly over Bianchi, so look to acquire him in NL leagues if he comes back up.
