Marlins | Indians pitchers on the block?

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 09:45:39 -0700

Cleveland Indians SPs Carlos Carrasco and Danny Salazar could be being scouted by the Miami Marlins, according to the Miami Herald's Clark Spencer. The Marlins have scouts in Cleveland.

Fantasy Tip: The Marlins will lose two-thirds of their rotation, Mat Latos and Dan Haren, to free agency after the 2015 season. Pitching in the National League in spacious Marlins Park, which ranks 19th in runs scored, would benefit any pitcher and especially two with the strikeout ability of Carrasco and Salazar.

Indians | Danny Salazar dominates

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 19:56:58 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar came within one out of a complete game, allowing an unearned run on five hits and striking out eight in a win over the Oakland Athletics Friday, July 10.

Fantasy Tip: Salazar ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) has excellent swing-and-miss stuff, but he has been inconsistent all year. He is definitely worth considering at FantasyScore when he draws a solid matchup, but he is either going to take your lineup to the next level or ruin it.

Indians | Danny Salazar in a little funk

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 10:03:58 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar gave up five earned runs in 4 2/3 innings in his last start against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he has gone fewer than five innings in three of his last four outings.

Fantasy Tip: Of course that other game in that span, Salazar ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) flirted with a no-hitter. He's always intriguing in daily games because he's fanning a whopping 10.8 hitters per nine innings this year. Salazar has also struggled more at home this year (4.41 ERA), but he remains in consideration for one of your pitching spots on FantasyScore because of his swing-and-miss stuff.

Indians | Danny Salazar flirts with no-hitter

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 20:17:04 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar allowed two runs - one earned - and two hits over 7 2/3 innings with two hits and two strikeouts in a win Tuesday, June 30, against the Tampa Bay Rays. He had a no-hitter into the sixth inning.

Fantasy Tip: Salazar ($7,200; or 14.4% of cap) actually let his FantasyScore players down with the two strikeouts, as he entered play in the Top 5 in K/9 ratio. Still, a win is a win and he remains a must-start more often than not.

Indians | Danny Salazar gets tuned up

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 21:45:10 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar allowed seven runs - six earned - and six hits over 4 1/3 innings in a loss Tuesday, June 23, against the Detroit Tigers.

Fantasy Tip: Salazar ($7,700; or 15.4% of cap) salvaged the line by picking up eight strikeouts, but it was an obvious poor matchup against David Price and the Tigers. There will be better days.

Indians | Danny Salazar strong at home

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 21:55:58 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar is the probable starter for Tuesday, June 23, against the Detroit Tigers. He is 3-0 with a 3.26 ERA in five starts at Progressive Field this season.

Fantasy Tip: Salazar ($7,700; or 15.4% of cap) is normally a solid FantasyScore play at home, and he is third in the majors with an 11.17 K/9 ratio. However, he is up against David Price who has eight wins and just one loss in 11 career starts against the Indians. It's probably a good idea to take a pass on Salazar this time around.

Indians | Danny Salazar looks for lucky No. 7

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 21:53:45 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar will face the Chicago Cubs Thursday, June 18, as he seeks his career-high seventh victory of the season. He has won three straight starts at home, posting a 3.16 ERA over 25 2/3 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Salazar ($7,700; or 15.4% of cap) is a tremendous FantasyScore option thanks to his 11.4 K/9 ratio which ranks third in the majors behind only Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale and Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw.

Indians | Danny Salazar punches out 10

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 19:35:44 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar improved to 6-1 on the year with a win over the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, June 6, allowing one run on six hits and striking out 10 over seven innings.

Fantasy Tip: Salazar ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) has struggled with consistency, but he has piled up 81 strikeouts in 61 2/3 innings. He makes a solid option at FantasyScore if you want to build an aggressive, high-upside lineup.

Indians | Danny Salazar had cut fingernail

Wed, 27 May 2015 11:04:49 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar (finger) had a small cut near his fingernail in the fifth inning of his outing Tuesday, May 26, but he managed to go 5 2/3 innings. Pitching coach Mickey Callaway said Salazar's finger was tender Wednesday, May 27. "We're going to take a day off from throwing today, get back to his bullpen (on Thursday)," Callaway said. "(We'll) probably do something like all fastballs. It really bothers him on his offspeed pitches. He really kind of yanks on that part of the finger. He should be fine for his next start."

Fantasy Tip: Salazar ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) allowed three earned runs to the Texas Rangers last night, and he struck out six. If Salazar is ready to make his next start, he should be a safe play at FantasyScore, but monitor his progress just in case. The right-hander leads the league with a 12.0 K/9 rate in 2015.

Indians | Danny Salazar shelled

Sun, 17 May 2015 06:51:36 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar was pulled Saturday, May 16, against the Texas Rangers, after allowing nine hits and five earned runs in just four and two-third innings.

Fantasy Tip: Salazar ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) possesses plenty of FantasyScore potential thanks to his high strikeout totals when things go according to plan. Saturday's outing should serve as a reminder for owners that Salazar carries a high amount of risk with him. Salazar's next scheduled outing is for Thursday, May 21, against the Chicago White Sox. FantasyScore owners should invest in Salazar at their own risk.
