Indians | Danny Salazar shaky in no-decision

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 19:45:16 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar allowed four runs - three earned - and four hits with two walks and five strikeouts over four innings in a no-decision Tuesday, July 26, against the Washington Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: Salazar's ERA has slowly crept up from 2.22 to 2.89 in four starts since June 29. Despite the fact he has allowed 14 earned runs over 22 innings during the shaky stretch, he remains a must-start in all fantasy formats.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmermann hitting seventh Tuesday

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 13:38:15 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmermann will hit seventh in the lineup Tuesday, July 26, against Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar.

Fantasy Tip: The team is easing his bat into the lineup by not putting Zimmermann right at the top or in a hit-producing position. All the pressure should be off. See how Zimmermann does in his first one or two games before activating him.

Nationals | Jayson Werth in fifth spot

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 13:27:22 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth will hit in the fifth spot Tuesday, July 26, against Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar.

Fantasy Tip: Why the Nationals are doing this is a mystery. Werth hasn't exactly done anything wrong. He's had six hits in his last seven games, including two homers. On the other hand, you could argue this places Werth in a better position to mop up at the plate. Either way, Werth belongs in your lineup in all formats.

Nationals | Ben Revere batting ninth Tuesday

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 13:22:21 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere is hitting in the ninth spot Tuesday, July 26, against Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar.

Fantasy Tip: Revere only has three hits since July 9, so the team may be trying to jump-start his bat a bit by taking the pressure off. The problem is batting this low means Revere will get fewer opportunities, and that will reduce his fantasy value.

Indians | Danny Salazar set to start July 19

Mon, 11 Jul 2016 15:54:01 -0700

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar (elbow) is scheduled to start against the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, July 19.

Fantasy Tip: Salazar has been a fantasy star to this point with 10 wins, a 2.75 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP and 118 strikeouts over 104 2/3 innings. There are slight concerns about his current elbow injury, but it isn't expected to be a serious ailment, and Salazar's track record suggests he should be started confidently in all fantasy formats.

Indians | Danny Salazar won't miss a start

Mon, 11 Jul 2016 15:00:09 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar (elbow) said his elbow injury is "nothing bad," and there is a "100%" chance he will pitch the fourth or fifth game following the All-Star break.

Fantasy Tip: Salazar was roughed up in his latest outing allowing six runs over 5 2/3 innings. However, through his previous 16 starts, he went 10-3 with a 2.36 ERA and 113 strikeouts over 99 innings. Unless the injury lingers, and that doesn't seem to be the case, expect Salazar to return to being a dominant starter following the break.
