Indians | Danny Salazar using new sinker grip

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 17:16:19 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Since the All-Star break, Salazar ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) is 3-2 with a 1.76 ERA in six outings. FantasyScore owners can always rely on him to rack up high strikeout totals - he has recorded four double-digit strikeout games this season and has fanned 156 batters in 139 2/3 innings.

Indians | Danny Salazar going deeper into games

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 10:30:20 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar has struck out 10 or more batters four times this year, but he hasn't done so since June 6. He's 3-0 in his last four starts and has gone six innings or more each time but hasn't struck out any more than eight batters in those games. Salazar is averaging 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings in his 222 starts after averaging 9.8 strikeouts per nine in 20 starts last year. His walks and hits allowed are also down from last season. Salazar's batting average against is .210, second lowest in the American League. He's allowed one or fewer runs and gone six or more innings in each of his last four starts.

Fantasy Tip: What you're seeing is the maturation of a pitcher with an excellent fastball with above-average dominance on the mound. Salazar ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) has morphed into an ace for fantasy owners, and although his strikeout numbers have been down of late, he's giving you much for efficiency and better overall numbers. He'll remain a strong pitching option on FantasyScore for the rest of the year.

Marlins | Indians pitchers on the block?

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 09:45:39 -0700

Cleveland Indians SPs Carlos Carrasco and Danny Salazar could be being scouted by the Miami Marlins, according to the Miami Herald's Clark Spencer. The Marlins have scouts in Cleveland.

Fantasy Tip: The Marlins will lose two-thirds of their rotation, Mat Latos and Dan Haren, to free agency after the 2015 season. Pitching in the National League in spacious Marlins Park, which ranks 19th in runs scored, would benefit any pitcher and especially two with the strikeout ability of Carrasco and Salazar.
