Thu, 30 May 2013 15:54:42 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Eric Chavez (oblique) will undergo an MRI exam after leaving the game early Thursday, May 30. The team may activate SS Willie Bloomquist (oblique) from the disabled list if Chavez has to land on the DL. Bloomquist has been rehabbing with Triple-A Reno. Fantasy Tip: Bloomquist's return would create more excess in the middle infield with Cliff Pennington and Didi Gregorius. It's unclear how the Snakes would let playing time shake out in that scenario, and there's a possibility that they send Gregorius back to the minors. Gregorius and Pennington are deep mixed infield depth until that situation presents itself.
Thu, 30 May 2013 13:18:06 -0700 Updating a previous report, Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Eric Chavez (oblique) left the game with a strained right oblique Thursday, May 30. Fantasy Tip: This will likely put Chavez on the DL. Didi Gregorius will gain more value in deep mixed leagues since he should be playing every day now at either shortstop or second base. Cliff Pennington should be a lineup mainstay as a result, too, at least until Aaron Hill (hand) returns.
Thu, 30 May 2013 11:16:19 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Eric Chavez (oblique) left the team's game Thursday, May 30, after suffering a possible oblique injury. Fantasy Tip: Oblique ailments typically require stints on the disabled list, especially for a player at the end of his career like Chavez. Martin Prado will likely move to third base again full time if that's the case, and Didi Gregorius would see more consistent playing time in the middle infield until Aaron Hill (hand) returns, which is still a ways off.
Fri, 10 May 2013 10:04:47 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks 2B Aaron Hill (hand) was told to leave his soft cast on for another week after he had some pain when he attempted to pick up a bat. He will visit with a doctor Sunday, May 12, and undergo a CT scan Monday, May 13. Fantasy Tip: This is a minor setback for Hill, depending what the doctor and CT scan find this weekend. The team was hoping he could return late this month, but that may have to be pushed back to early June. The D-backs will continue to mix and match in the infield with Martin Prado, Cliff Pennington and Didi Gregorius in the meantime. When Hill returns, Gregorius could be sent back to the minors if the Snakes feel he needs more minor league seasoning.
Sat, 04 May 2013 12:58:57 -0700 The Arizona Diamondbacks have activated SS Didi Gregorius (concussion) from the seven-day disabled list. In a corresponding move, the team optioned OF Alfredo Marte to Triple-A Reno.
Fri, 03 May 2013 16:44:24 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks SS Didi Gregorius (concussion) could return to the team Saturday, May 4, if he passes all of his concussion tests.
Sun, 28 Apr 2013 20:34:24 -0700 The Arizona Diamondbacks placed SS Didi Gregorius (concussion) on the 7-day disabled list Sunday, April 29, due to a mild concussion.
Sat, 27 Apr 2013 10:49:39 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks SS Didi Gregorius (head) is listed as day-to-day after suffering a contusion to the right temple when he was hit by a pitch from Colorado Rockies P Josh Outman Friday, April 26. He was down on the ground briefly before eventually sitting up and walking off the field. "They (trainers) brought him in and he completed the written test, he passed that with flying colors," manager Kirk Gibson said. "It shows no neurological problems. They are doing a CT scan for precautionary measures. We will see what that shows and there is a possibility of a seven-day DL (disabled list)."
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 11:14:00 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks SS Didi Gregorius hit his second career home run Sunday, April 21, and he's 6-for-11 with two homers and a double in his first three games with the team. "He sees the ball well," manager Kirk Gibson said. "He has a real good approach with two outs. He's a tough out. He doesn't surprise me. We thought a lot of him, obviously. We traded him for him." Fantasy Tip: Gregorius' is off to a great start with his new team, especially since he isn't known for his bat or his power. It remains to be seen what they'll do with him when Willie Bloomquist (oblique) returns from the DL, though, so for now, he's best left to NL-only leagues.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 11:30:31 -0700 Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Martin Prado is expected to play mostly second base with 2B Aaron Hill (hand) out, but SS Cliff Pennington is also an option at second base, and manager Kirk Gibson said he won't play 3B Eric Chavez at third base more than two days in a row. SS Didi Gregorius will be used primarily at shortstop for the time being. However, general manager Kevin Towers said the team will be conservative with Gregorius' playing time, suggesting he won't play every day. Fantasy Tip: The D-backs' infield alignment, minus first base, will be very fluid for the next few weeks with Hill on the disabled list. The only one that will be playing consistently is Prado. Temper your expectations for Gregorius, especially since it sounds like he won't be playing every day. He's strictly NL-only material for now.
