Yankees | Didi Gregorius sitting out

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 14:04:26 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius is not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 25. SS Stephen Drew is playing shortstop and batting sixth, and SS Gregorio Petit is playing second base and batting ninth against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to avoid all three middle infielders Thursday. Drew ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is just returning from a paternity leave, and Petit offers little upside and has no track record of success in the majors. Plus, Keuchel is a capable starter.

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 09:30:11 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius is batting second in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez Sunday, June 21.

Fantasy Tip: Gregorius ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has picked up at least one hit in seven of his last eight games and has hit a home run in each of the last two games. Owners on FantasyScore could consider Gregorius as a starting option.

Yankees | Yanks middle infield resting

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 09:23:48 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Stephen Drew and SS Didi Gregorius are both out of the starting lineup Wednesday, June 10. 2B Jose Pirela is starting at the keystone and hitting eighth, while SS Brendan Ryan is starting at shortstop and hitting ninth against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez.

Fantasy Tip: Both Pirela ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) and Ryan ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should be avoided everywhere by daily gamers this afternoon.

Yankees | Jose Pirela starting at keystone

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 16:38:31 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Jose Pirela is starting at second base and hitting seventh in the batting order against Seattle Mariners SP Mike Montgomery Tuesday, June 2. 2B Stephen Drew shifts over to shortstop, while SS Didi Gregorius starts on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Pirela ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has only eight hits in 36 at-bats (.222) with no home runs and no RBI. That right there should indicate that he should be left alone on FantasyScore.

Yankees | Jose Pirela starting at keystone

Tue, 19 May 2015 13:13:18 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Jose Pirela is starting at second base and hitting seventh in the batting order against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Tuesday, May 19. SS Didi Gregorius is on the bench, and 2B Stephen Drew has shifted over to shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Both Pirela ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) and Drew ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) qualify as low-end second base options at FantasyScore.

Yankees | Didi Gregorius not starting

Sat, 16 May 2015 14:23:34 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius isn't in the starting lineup Saturday, May 16, against the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Gregorius ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is just 1-for-his-last-16 plate appearances and he has drawn only a single walk in that time as well. With Jose Pirela stealing more and more playing time, Gregorius will need a serious hot streak to become relevant again.

Yankees | Didi Gregorius back at SS

Sun, 10 May 2015 07:31:49 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius is back in the lineup Sunday, May 10, against the Baltimore Orioles. 2B Jose Pirela is out of the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gregorius ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) draws back in as the Yankees' infield shuffle continues. Gregorius is just 2-for-14 in his last four games and shouldn't be considered for FantasyScore purposes.

Yankees | Didi Gregorius not in lineup

Sat, 09 May 2015 09:03:02 -0700

New York Yankees SS Didi Gregorius is not in the starting lineup Saturday, May 9. 2B Stephen Drew will be the starting shortstop for the Yankees.

Fantasy Tip: Gregorius ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has struggled at times at the plate and is receiving a day off. Drew ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is only hitting .179 but does have four home runs and 10 RBI. Owners on FantasyScore may be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

Yankees | Jose Pirela making debut

Wed, 06 May 2015 14:28:20 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Jose Pirela is making his season debut at second base and is hitting ninth in the batting order against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle Wednesday, May 6. SS Didi Gregorius is not in the lineup, while SS Stephen Drew shifts over to shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Pirela ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) had eight hits in 24 at-bats (.333) in seven games last year. He could eventually take more starts away from Drew at second base if the veteran continues to struggle. Look to add Pirela for help in AL-only leagues. Pirela can save you plenty of loot at FantasyScore tonight against a struggling pitcher, but he's merely a shot in the dark.

Yankees | Jose Pirela to be activated Wednesday

Tue, 05 May 2015 16:03:03 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Jose Pirela will be activated for the game Wednesday, May 6, against the Toronto Blue Jays. Manager Joe Girardi said he will take things day-by-day regarding choosing starters between Pirela, incumbent 2B Stephen Drew and SS Didi Gregorius.

Fantasy Tip: Pirela ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) was hitting .579 through 20 at bats for Class AAA, with one home run and zero strikeouts. With Drew and Gregorius both struggling, Pirela could make a strong case for playing time if he's able to get off to a quick start at the major league level. Owners in deep leagues or AL-only leagues can go ahead and scoop up Pirela, while moderate-sized, mixed league owners should keep a watchful eyes on the Yankees' daily lineups.
