The Colorado Rockies have activated 1B Todd Helton (hip) from thre 15-day disabled list. In a corresponding move, the team optioned P Edwar Cabrera to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

The Colorado Rockies recalled SP Tyler Chatwood from Triple-A Colorado Springs Friday, June 29, and optioned SP Edwar Cabrera to Colorado Springs in a corresponding move. Chatwood could be in line to start Sunday, July 1.

Colorado Rockies SP Edwar Cabrera was pounded for seven runs, five hits (including three home runs) over 2 1/3 innings Wednesday, June 27, against the Washington Nationals. "I need to command my fastball better. I couldn't get it inside," Cabrera said. "I made a lot of bad pitches." As such, manager Jim Tracy wouldn't commit to Cabrera for a start Sunday, July 1, or Monday, July 2.

The Colorado Rockies optioned RP Zach Putnam to Triple-A Colorado Springs Wednesday, June 27, to make room for SP Edwar Cabrera, who is making his major league debut against the Washington Nationals. SP Jeremy Guthrie will be available for up to 50 pitches if Cabrera gets in trouble.

The Colorado Rockies recalled SP Edwar Cabrera from Double-A Tulsa Tuesday, June 26, and he's likely to start Wednesday, June 27. He went 8-4 with a 2.94 ERA and 82 strikeouts with Tulsa this year, but he's allowed 15 homers in 98 innings.
