The Philadelphia Phillies have optioned RPs Jake Diekman and Justin De Fratus to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. RP Cesar Jimenez and 3B Josh Fields were reassigned to minor league camp.

Philadelphia Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee said the bullpen competition is about to heat up. RP Phillippe Aumont is really the only pitcher that may have jumped ahead of the competition, with RPs Jeremy Horst, Raul Valdes, Justin De Fratus, Michael Stutes and Jake Diekman battling for the other two spots. Ps Tyler Cloyd (forearm) and B.J. Rosenberg (triceps) threw bullpens Thursday, March 7, and are close to game action.

The Philadelphia Phillies placed OF Laynce Nix (calf) and RP Chad Qualls (knee) on the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 11. RPs Jake Diekman and Raul Valdes and INF Hector Luna were recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in corresponding moves.

Philadelphia Phillies Ps Jake Diekman and Raul Valdes and INF Hector Luna are expected to be called up before the game Friday, May 11, with RP Brian Sanches and C Erik Kratz likely to be sent down. OF Laynce Nix (calf) is also a candidate to go on the disabled list with a strained left calf, although he's listed as day-to-day.

Philadelphia Phillies P Jake Diekman appears poised to receive a call-up soon to help out the team's bullpen depth. The bullpen has a 5.47 ERA, which is worst in the majors, along with six blown saves, good for third most on the league.
