Cubs | Jorge Soler out of lineup

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 07:38:05 -0700

Chicago Cubs OF Jorge Soler is out of the lineup Thursday, April 28, with 2B Tommy La Stella hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: La Stella is hitting .364 without a lot of damage. He's a low-end consideration against Taylor Jungmann without a ton of upside.

Cubs | Tommy La Stella starting vs. Brewers

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 12:26:05 -0700

Chicago Cubs INF Tommy La Stella is starting at third base and batting sixth against Milwaukee Brewers SP Taylor Jungmann Wednesday, April 27. 2B Javier Baez and OF Jorge Soler are not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Le Stella is 8-for-22 to start the season with four extra-base hits, five runs and three RBI. His fantasy ownership should be limited to cavernous mixed and NL-only formats because of his lack of playing time, but when he's in the lineup, there is upside. He provides excellent value at a low salary in daily contests, too.

Cubs | Dexter Fowler, Ben Zobrist resting

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 08:22:35 -0700

Chicago Cubs OF Dexter Fowler and 2B Ben Zobrist will not be in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP Alfredo Simon Sunday, April 24. INF Tommy La Stella will lead off and play second base, OF Jason Heyward will play center field and bat second, OF Jorge Soler will bat fifth and play right field and OF Matt Szczur will start in left field and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Fowler is off to an excellent start at the plate this year, batting .385 with three homers and 13 RBI through his first 65 at-bats, but fantasy owners will have to do without the contributions of him and Zobrist Sunday afternoon. La Stella and Szczur are a combined 11-for-35 (.314) at the dish this season with a home run and eight RBI and should be viewed as inexpensive fliers for daily contests.

Cubs | Jorge Soler not in batting order

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 12:18:22 -0700

Chicago Cubs OF Jorge Soler is not in the starting lineup Friday, April 22, against Cincinnati Reds SP Jon Moscot. 3B Kris Bryant is in his spot in left field, while 2B Javier Baez is getting the start at third base.

Fantasy Tip: Soler has been underachieving greatly thus far in 2016, which is unfortunate for him considering the opportunity he has with Kyle Schwarber out for the year. Baez will be someone to consider in daily formats tonight, as he should provide solid value against a non-dominant pitcher like Moscot.

Cubs | Two Cubs sitting out

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 08:11:36 -0700

Chicago Cubs SS Addison Russell and OF Jorge Soler are out of the lineup Wednesday, April 20. OF Tommy La Stella is hitting sixth, and SS Javier Baez is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Baez is 4-for-9 (.444) on the young season, and albeit a small sample size, he's 2-for-3 lifetime against Carlos Martinez. He's worth the low-end start today, while La Stella doesn't pack the punch for a spot start.

Cubs | Jorge Soler in the lineup

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 08:19:49 -0700

Chicago Cubs OF Jorge Soler is hitting sixth Friday, April 15, against Colorado Rockies SP Chad Bettis.

Fantasy Tip: It's the fifth time in six games that Soler has drawn the start. However, the results haven't been there yet. He's 5-for-20 (.200) with a homer and four RBI. He's still worth consideration as a late daily outfielder based on promise alone.

Cubs | Jorge Soler out Thursday

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 11:45:51 -0700

Chicago Cubs OF Jorge Soler is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 14. 3B Kris Bryant is moving to left field, while 2B Tommy La Stella starts at third base and is hitting sixth against Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias.

Fantasy Tip: Anyone in Chicago's lineup is worth a look in daily lineups, and that doesn't exclude La Stella when he sees a start. He has hits in half of his eight at-bats to begin the season. However, he's facing Cincy's ace and is more of a low-end daily pick Thursday.

Cubs | Jorge Soler hitting seventh

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 15:32:25 -0700

Chicago Cubs OF Jorge Soler is hitting seventh Saturday, April 9, against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke.

Fantasy Tip: While it doesn't mean much, Soler is actually 2-for-3 against Greinke in his career. He's a low-end DFS option today, and he must be owned universally in traditional leagues.

Cubs | Two Cubs could see more time

Fri, 08 Apr 2016 07:35:17 -0700

Chicago Cubs OF Jorge Soler and 2B Tommy La Stella could see more time after OF Kyle Schwarber's (ankle) injury, according to manager Joe Maddon. La Stella could see time at third base with 3B Kris Bryant in left field.

Fantasy Tip: Soler figures to benefit significantly, but Maddon will continue his rotation of players. So he might not play every day. If Soler is floating on any waivers, he needs to be picked up universally.

Cubs | No Jorge Soler against Arizona

Thu, 07 Apr 2016 14:06:36 -0700

Chicago Cubs OF Jorge Soler is not in the starting lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday, April 7.

Fantasy Tip: The Cubs have an abundance of capable daily starters all over the diamond, and Thursday, Soler is the odd-man out. As long as Kyle Schwarber holds up defensively in left field, Soler will likely be limited to the smaller side of a platoon and mainly facing left-handed pitchers. Soler remains a solid bench player in deep mixed leagues because of his power upside and his colleagues in a strong lineup.
