Mariners | Nori Aoki hits A's well

Tue, 03 May 2016 23:41:49 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Nori Aoki has hit safely in all 14 games that he has had an at-bat against the Oakland Athletics in his career.

Fantasy Tip: Aoki is hitting just .226 with five RBI on the season. He's a low-end option against the A's in DFS, but he's not worth starting in traditional leagues.

Mariners | Nori Aoki not in the lineup

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 16:31:37 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Nori Aoki is not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh Wednesday, April 27. OF Seth Smith will start in left field in place of Aoki. SS Ketel Marte will be batting first in the starting lineup with Aoki out. 1B Dae-ho Lee will start at first base and is batting seventh, while 1B Adam Lind will serve as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Marte likely will not lead off often but should receive an extra at-bat or two Wednesday. He has gone 10-for-25 with two RBI over the last seven days and could be an attractive option in some daily fantasy leagues. Lee has received limited playing time this season but six of his hits have been home runs. Lee could be a starting candidate for some owners, but most owners should be able to find better players to use.

Mariners | Leonys Martin, Adam Lind out

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 15:10:25 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Leonys Martin and 1B Adam Lind are not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros left-handed SP Dallas Keuchel Tuesday, April 26. OF Nori Aoki moves to center field, OF Franklin Gutierrez is in left field and batting fifth, and 1B Dae-ho Lee is at first base and is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Keuchel hasn't flashed the Cy Young form he had last year, but he's bound to turn it around eventually. That makes Gutierrez and Lee not all that attractive Tuesday night. If you want one to help you save salary cap space, choose Guti. He hit .317 with eight home runs in 104 at-bats against lefties in 2015.

Mariners | Nori Aoki back from injury

Fri, 08 Apr 2016 14:08:52 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Nori Aoki (shin) is back in the starting lineup and is leadoff off against Oakland Athletics SP Eric Surkamp Friday, April 8.

Fantasy Tip: Aoki's injury wasn't serious at all, so he just sat out one game. Against the journeyman Surkamp making a spot start Friday, Aoki could be a successful cheap daily flyer for his speed and on-base skills. Give him a look.

Mariners | Seattle outfield rotation still in flux

Tue, 08 Dec 2015 12:13:50 -0800

Seattle Mariners OF Nori Aoki will play every day in the Mariners' outfield, according to general manager Jerry Dipoto. In center field, the Mariners will use a combination of OFs Franklin Gutierrez, Nelson Cruz, Leonys Martin and Seth Smith.

Fantasy Tip: In short, the Mariners are content to let this settle out on the field. It's no surprise Aoki will start and should be drafted in middle AL rounds and middle to late mixed rounds. Of the others Cruz is the most draftable.

Mariners | Nori Aoki to bat leadoff for Mariners

Thu, 03 Dec 2015 16:21:06 -0800

Seattle Mariners OF Nori Aoki is expected to be the club's leadoff hitter for the 2016 season and will play all three outfield positions, primarily in left field, according to general manager Jerry Dipoto.

Fantasy Tip: Given his track record of being able to get on base, Aoki could potentially be a steal in all fantasy formats, hitting in front of proven run-producers like Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz. That is, of course, if the Mariners stand pat with their two big boppers in the heart of the order.

Giants | Nori Aoki could re-sign

Tue, 10 Nov 2015 11:44:59 -0800

The San Francisco Giants are interested in re-signing OF Nori Aoki (concussion), who is said to be "100%" after suffering a late-season concussion, according to his agent, Nez Balelo.

Fantasy Tip: Aoki missed a lot of time in his first year with the Giants in 2015. He's a scrappy leadoff hitter type that has very little power that fantasy owners can lean on. He might be in a platoon role if the Giants re-sign him, too, which would likely limit his value to NL-only leagues.
