Kansas City Royals OF Norichika Aoki (groin) said he is making good progress in his recovery from a groin injury. He is expected to go on a rehab assignment before he returns but there is no timetable for that at this point.

Kansas City Royals OF Norichika Aoki (groin) isn't expected to rejoin the club on their current road trip, per manager Ned Yost.

Fantasy Tip: The last game of the road trip is Wednesday, July 9, so he may return next week, at earliest. But he's in jeopardy of losing playing time to Jarrod Dyson anyway.

Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said the plan at this point is for OF Norichika Aoki (groin) to return the starting lineup when he comes off the 15-day disabled list, but Yost indicated the plan could change when Aoki is healed. Aoki could be part of a platoon with OF Jarrod Dyson when he returns, because he hits better against left-handed pitchers than he does right-handed pitchers.

The Kansas City Royals have placed OF Norichika Aoki (groin) on the 15-day disabled list because of a groin injury. The team has also purchased the contract of OF Justin Maxwell from Triple-A Omaha.

Fantasy Tip: With Aoki out, Jarrod Dyson probably will receive most of the time in the outfield until Aoki returns. Dyson could be a decent short-term option for owners in deeper leagues.
