Los Angeles Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (elbow) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, July 19, because of elbow tendinitis. The move was retroactive to July 9.
Fantasy Tip: Owners should keep an eye out on the situation because Ryu recently had Tommy John surgery. Ryu allowed six runs in his only start of the season and has struggled with injuries over the last few seasons. Owners in standard leagues may want to consider dropping Ryu if they need another pitcher.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (elbow) may be dealing with an elbow issue, according to sources, and he's likely to miss his next start. Ryu will visit with team doctors.
Fantasy Tip: Ryu has proven he can be a serviceable fantasy starter in most formats when healthy, but the problem is he just can't stay out of the trainer's room. The Korean southpaw made his season debut July 7 and allowed six earned runs to the weak-hitting Padres. A shoulder injury previously held him back, so this doesn't look promising. Don't feel compelled to wait him out in mixed leagues at this point.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Bud Norris, SP Brandon McCarthy and SP Kenta Maeda will start the first three games after the All-Star break against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and SP Scott Kazmir and SP Hyun-Jin Ryu will start the next two games against the Washington Nationals.
Fantasy Tip: Clayton Kershaw is expected to be back soon, but the Dodgers will make at least one turn through the rotation without their ace.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu gave up six runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings with four strikeouts and two walks Thursday, July 7, in a 6-0 loss to the San Diego Padres. It was Ryu's first start since September 2014.
Fantasy Tip: It is not the first start Ryu fans should be concerned about. If Ryu continues to struggle upon his return the Dodgers will likely reduce his workload. This is why you should stay far away for the time being, although it is nice to see Ryu back after nearly two years.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) has been activated from the 60-day disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: This is just standard procedure ahead of Ryu making his first start Thursday evening against the San Diego Padres. It's actually Ryu's first start since the 2014 postseason, and considering he went 28-15 with a sweet 3.17 ERA over his first two years in the majors, he's worth a look in all leagues. Owners should be paying close attention to how he fares this evening due to his long-term potential.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder), who is making his season debut against the San Diego Padres Thursday, July 7, was hitting only 90 mph and averaging 86 mph with his fastball in his most recent rehab start, according to manager Dave Roberts.
Fantasy Tip: Ryu has never been much of a hard thrower, and he posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 8.2 K/9 back in 2014 with the Blue. He's a speculative add in deep mixed and NL-only leagues, but keep expectations tempered in his first start back, as he might not go deep into the game. With full health, he can be useful in most leagues in the second half.
