Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington said INFs Jurickson Profar and Leury Garcia will split time at second base with 2B Ian Kinsler (intercostal) on the disabled list. Garcia started at second Sunday, May 19. Profar hit two home runs with Triple-A Round Rock Saturday, May 18, to extend his hitting streak to eight games. He had 14 hits in his last 33 at-bats with six runs, two doubles, three home runs and eight RBIs. Profar is likely to go back to the minors when Kinsler returns, because the team wants him playing every day. Manager Ron Washington said Kinsler could be out only five to six days.

Fantasy Tip: Profar should be owned in all leagues, even if his stay in the majors is short-lived this time around. Kinsler is known to be a slower healer, though, so that could buy Profar a little more time.

Texas Rangers INF Leury Garcia played center field during the final innings of the team's exhibition game Saturday, March 30. It marked the first time he had played the position this spring.

The Texas Rangers will have SS Jurickson Profar begin the season at Triple-A Round Rock, with INF Leury Garcia serving as the utility infielder. OF Jim Adduci, C Eli Whiteside and SP Nate Robertson are also heading to Round Rock. P Coty Woods has cleared waivers, and the Rangers are trying to work out a trade with the Colorado Rockies.

Fantasy Tip: Profar will be up eventually this year and is still worth grabbing in the late rounds in mixed formats if you can stash him. He should be owned in every AL-only and keeper league.

Texas Rangers OF Nelson Cruz and INF Leury Garcia are the only two position players on the roster to have had their nation advance in the World Baseball Classic. Both players represent the Dominican Republic. SP Derek Holland helped Team USA to a win Sunday, March 10, and the USA marches into the next round as well.

Texas Rangers INF Leury Garcia has been invited to play for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic, and he'll likely be used in a limited utility role if he accepts the invite. Garcia is the team's No. 19 prospect.

The players were P Wilmer Font ($491,000), INF Leury Garcia ($490,000), P Roman Mendez ($490,000), 1B Mitch Moreland ($502,700), SP Alexi Ogando ($506,600), P Joe Ortiz ($490,000), SP Martin Perez ($492,000), SS Jurickson Profar ($491,000), RP Tanner Scheppers ($493,600), P Matt West ($490,000) and P Coty Woods ($490,000).

The Texas Rangers are looking for a utility infielder who can play shortstop as spring camp gets underway. The team is prepared to let SS Jurickson Profar handle duties on Opening Day, but the team may either go with INF Leury Garcia and move Profar somewhere else in the infield or go with an outside candidate.

The Texas Rangers have not revived trade talks for Arizona Diamondbacks OF Justin Upton, with one source saying the two sides have agreed to "move on" after the Seattle Mariners also failed to land the slugger. The Rangers were prepared to offer Arizona a four-player package including 3B Mike Olt, but that was before Upton nixed the trade to Seattle. Ps Martin Perez or Cody Buckel also would have been sent to the D-backs, along with SS Leury Garcia and one other prospect, according to sources. Texas is still waiting to make one more big move this offseason, meaning they are candidates to sign free-agent OF Michael Bourn (Braves) or SP Kyle Lohse (Cardinals).
