Blue Jays | Drew Hutchison rolls at home

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 22:51:17 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison allowed three runs and nine hits over five innings in a win Monday, June 22, against the Tampa Bay Rays. He struck out six and walked two batters. Hutchison has a 5.33 ERA overall, but he has received 8.27 runs of support, best in the majors.

Fantasy Tip: Hutchison has been a stud at home, and generally he has been good for FantasyScore players due to his high run support. At $4,200 (or 8.4% of cap) he is a decent play in FantasyScore, just know he allows plenty of runs and hits.

Fantasy Tip: Hutchison ($4,200; or 8.4% of cap) is 5-1 with a 2.38 ERA in seven home starts and 1-0 with a 9.46 ERA in seven road outings.

Blue Jays | Drew Hutchison loves home park

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 17:51:12 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison improved to 4-1 at home, allowing one run on six hits in 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Houston Astros Saturday, June 6. He owns a 2.72 ERA at home this year compared to a 7.80 ERA in six road starts.

Fantasy Tip: The split is pretty dramatic for Hutchison ($4,200, 8.4% of cap), and with his next scheduled start expected to be on the road against the Boston Red Sox, he should probably be avoided at FantasyScore. He allowed six runs on nine hits in four innings in a start at Fenway Park April 28.

Blue Jays | Drew Hutchison spins shutout

Tue, 26 May 2015 04:13:10 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison allowed four singles, walked none and struck out eight in a 5-0 shutout of the Chicago White Sox on Monday, May 25. It was Hutchison's first shutout since May 16 of last year.

Fantasy Tip: Hutchison ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has had his share of early struggles, which mainly revolved around the Blue Jays being unable to hit and support their starting pitchers. This is definitely a step in the right direction.

Blue Jays | Drew Hutchison takes first loss

Wed, 20 May 2015 19:24:59 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison lost for the first time in nine starts this season, Wednesday, May 20, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Hutchison allowed four runs and six hits in six and two-third innings.

Fantasy Tip: Hutchison ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) gave up a solo home run to Mike Trout but seemed to rebound before things fell apart in the seventh inning, Hutchison will continue to be a FantasyScore option, thanks to his potential for high strikeout totals.

Blue Jays | Drew Hutchison says everything is OK

Sun, 10 May 2015 14:11:10 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison told media everything is fine despite not making it past the fifth inning in three of his seven starts. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons also said there was nothing physical wrong with Hutchison.

Fantasy Tip: Hutchison ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has gotten off to a slow start this season but appears to be stabilizing his game. Still, keep an eye on his matchups and don't hesitate to go elsewhere if you suspect one matchup could give Hutchison trouble.

Blue Jays | Drew Hutchison shines in opener

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 15:29:55 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison allowed three hits while walking two and striking out three in six innings to get the win over the New York Yankees on opening day Monday, April 6. He held the Yanks hitless until a single with two outs in the fourth inning.

Fantasy Tip: Hutchison ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is a fine young pitcher that will be on the rise in 2015. He can struggle to keep the ball in the yard, though, with a 9.7% HR/FB rate in 2014. In the right matchups, Hutchison should continue to be a popular FantasyScore option.

Blue Jays | Drew Hutchison to start opener

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 19:11:15 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison has been named the team's opening day starter. He'll take the ball Monday, April 6, against the New York Yankees. "It's really exciting, opening day is special," Hutchison said. "At the end of the day, it's one game but as we all know it's opening day. The excitement, the energy that goes into it, it's exciting; so I'm really looking forward to the day and I'm just humbled and honored."

Fantasy Tip: Hutchison will make two starts in the first week, also working next weekend in Baltimore. At just $5,000 (or 10.0% of cap) he'll be a popular addition in FantasyScore for his strikeout potential.

Blue Jays | Drew Hutchison to start opener

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 09:13:40 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison will make his first ever opening day start against the New York Yankees in New York Monday, April 6. Hutchison is 1-2 with a 4.80 ERA in three career starts at Yankee Stadium. Hutchison went 11-13 with a 4.48 ERA in 32 starts in 2014, and he is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA in four spring training outings.

Fantasy Tip: Hutchison's ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) track record on the road against the Yankees doesn't scream for you to start him at FantasyScore on opening day. He should be a fine fantasy asset in deep mixed leagues in 2015, however, and he'll be a cheaper pitching option in the right matchups for daily lineups.

Blue Jays | Drew Hutchison might start opener

Fri, 20 Mar 2015 20:19:35 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison is one of the possible options to start in the team's opening day pitcher against the New York Yankees.

Fantasy Tip: Hutchison would then face the Yankees and Orioles in the first week of the season. At $5,000 (or 10.0% of cap) he isn't a bad start against the Yankees, especially since he'll likely have several punchouts win or lose. He posted a 2.54 ERA with a 0.872 WHIP in six starts with a .550 OPS against the O's last season, too, so remember him later in the first week.
