Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison is the probable pitcher for Saturday, July 26, against the New York Yankees. He is 0-3 with a 9.22 ERA in three starts over 13 2/3 innings against the Yankees this season.
Fantasy Tip: If you were contemplating starting Hutchison in daily fantasy Saturday, don't do it. Plus, the Blue Jays have dropped 17 straight road games to the Yankees, and Hutchison hardly has the numbers to suggest that skid is going to end.

Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison has an 8.72 ERA in five home starts this season while posting a 2.03 ERA in eight road starts. Hutchison said he could not explain why he has so much trouble during home starts.

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said SP Drew Hutchison's next start will be pushed back to Tuesday, June 3. Gibbons said there is nothing physically wrong with Hutchison, but the team is concerned about fatigue.

The Toronto Blue Jays may consider pushing SP Drew Hutchison's next start back a few days in order to give him a few extra days off.

The Toronto Blue Jays are more likely to focus on "rental" pitchers in a trade than Chicago Cubs SP Jeff Samardzija. Kansas City Royals SP James Shields is seen as the preference for the Blue Jays should he hit the trade market. The Jays would also likely have interest in Cleveland Indians SP Justin Masterson, Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano and Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel. The Jays haven't been involved in talks for Samardzija, but sources say the Cubs would want SP Drew Hutchison plus either SPs Aaron Sanchez or Marcus Stroman in return for Samardzija.

The Toronto Blue Jays are among the teams scouting Chicago Cubs SP Jeff Samardzija. The Blue Jays are interested in acquiring him, but they are insistent on keeping SP Drew Hutchison.

Toronto Blue Jays SPs Drew Hutchison and Dustin McGowan won the final two spots in the team's starting rotation to begin the year. McGowan will start the home opener against the New York Yankees April 4. McGowan has pitched in only 30 major league games, with 25 relief outings last season, since he had right shoulder surgery in 2008. Ps Todd Redmond, Esmil Rogers and Jeremy Jeffress will work out of the bullpen.
Fantasy Tip: Hutchison is an up-and-coming pitching prospect that's worth a gamble late in deep mixed leagues. Due to McGowan's injury history, he's not worth the headache, and he might wind up being best served pitching out of the bullpen because of his limited innings since 2008.

Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison is in the lead for a rotation spot, according to manager John Gibbons. "Nobody's pitched better this spring than Hutch," he said. "The way he's pitching he's been dominating." Hutchison is likely in even if J.A. Happ (back) is healthy. Marcus Stroman remains in the mix for replacing Happ, but Gibbons wants prospect to tighten his command. Ricky Romero pitched four innings Wednesday, March 12, and apparently impressed Toronto brass, and he can't be counted out yet. Esmil Rogers and Todd Redmond are also in consideration.
Fantasy Tip: Hutchison could be a decent gamble in deep mixed leagues and should be in line for more AL-only confidence. Stroman should get a few starts this season, at least, and warrants a stash. Romero is worth watching.

Toronto Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ (back) threw a side session Tuesday, March 11, and had no ill effects the following day. Happ is expected to return to a spring game soon, but there is no immediate timetable. Happ's chance at a rotation spot could now be in jeopardy, with SP Drew Hutchison now a favorite for one of the open posts.
Fantasy Tip: Happ is running out of time to make an impression and win the final spot in the rotation. He should only be an option for those speculating that he wins the job in AL leagues.

Toronto Blue Jays SP Drew Hutchison's velocity is consistently in the mid-90s this spring after having Tommy John surgery in 2012, and he's receiving rave reviews from the team in camp. Hutchison could be considered a front-runner for the final rotation spot.
